Tomvision
It's an IMX477 camera, max 4K res at 10fps, good quality
This is an IMX477 camera for a Raspberry Pi. I am impressed with the quality of the camera, especially in the 4K mode. I tested it with a CM4 connected to the CM4 IO board. To get it working, you need to edit the boot configuration in /boot/firmware/config.txt to enable the camera. Add these two lines:
dtoverlay=imx477
camera_auto_detect=0 (or comment this out if it's currently set to 1)
When installing the camera on a Raspberry Pi CM4 IO board, the white ribbon cable contacts should be facing UP on the connection to the camera, and facing DOWN on the connection to the IO board. With my setup, the camera wouldn't work when connected to the CAM0 connector on the IO board. I had to connect it to the CAM1 connector.
To ensure the camera is being detected, first install the rpicam-apps package:
sudo apt install rpicam-apps
Then run 'rpicam-hello --list-cameras'
If it's connected properly and the imx477 module is loaded, the camera and its supported capture formats will be listed. You can also use rpicam-hello to turn the camera on and get a preview image. You don't need a window manager to do this. The camera preview will be rendered directly to the screen via DRM.
This camera supports the following formats and frame rates:
1332x990 - 120.05 fps
2028x1080 - 50.03 fps
2028x1520 - 40.01 fps
4056x3040 - 10.00 fps
Two different ribbon cables are included so you can choose the one that matches your setup.
This is a great camera for your Raspberry Pi that's easy to get working and shoots some nice pictures!
