Solid Build, But Lacking in Clarity

Disappointing Video Quality: Despite the 8MP and HDR specs, the actual video output is underwhelming. The image lacks the sharpness you’d expect at this resolution and often looks muddy or lower quality than advertised.

Premium Construction: The standout feature is definitely the metal housing. It’s incredibly sturdy and feels much more durable than the typical plastic camera modules you find.

True Plug-and-Play: Setup is effortless. It was recognized immediately on my PC without needing to hunt for specific drivers, which is a major plus for quick deployment.

Wide Field of View: The 101° wide-angle lens captures a lot of the room. It’s great for getting a broad perspective, though the wide angle doesn’t help the overall lack of detail in the sensor.

Exposed Lens: Because the M12 lens sits fairly far forward, you have to be careful during mounting or handling to avoid scratches, as there isn't much protection for the glass.

Struggles in Low Light: Even with the hardware ISP and HDR support, the image quality takes a significant hit if your lighting isn't perfect. It really needs a bright environment to function at its "best," which still isn't saying much.

Very durable metal housing, but the resolution is very questionable.

UPDATE: I have done some more thorough testing of this camera in various lighting situations, and I am a bit confused because it still appears much blurrier/low resolution than my old 2 mp nexigo webcam.... Not sure what I am missing here, but if customer service could let me know I would appreciate it! Thank you.

Original Review: The main positive - the housing is incredibly durable. It feels solid in the hand and doesn't have that "cheap plastic" vibe you get with many USB modules. It’s clearly built to last. However, the lens is very exposed. Because it sits so far out, I’ve found myself being extra cautious whenever I’m moving it or mounting it in a new spot. One wrong move and you’re looking at a scratch, so definitely handle it with care.

When the lighting is ideal, the image is crisp and impressively clear. The 101° wide angle gives a great field of view without too much distortion - it’s like a mini fish-eye lens.

Here is the reason I'm docking a star- the low-light performance. If you don’t have ideal lighting, the sensor really struggles. It’s like the resolution drops off a cliff; the image gets fuzzy and loses almost all its detail on my PC. It’s definitely not a "night vision" or low-light specialist, which it doesn't claim to be.
