We paid for a NEW product……..This is NOT a new product. When we opened it, wrapping for the unit was already torn. The bag that contained quick start information etc., had been opened before us and someone had sloppily pressed the sticker back down. There was no remote control.
This was my Husbands Christmas gift, very disappointed

I’m no audiophile, but I like the music to sound good. And by good, I mean clear and crisp. Here’s the problem with describing music – using words like “clear” and “crisp” could literally be assigned to glass and bacon. But to music? It’s all subjective and open to interpretation because we all hear things differently, IMHO.
This brings me to why I bought the Cambridge Audio AXC35 Single-Disc CD Player with High Performance Wolfson DAC and Remote Control. I had a Pioneer PD 202 Compact Disc Player, circa 1993-1994. I noticed that after playing the Pioneer for a short while it would begin skipping (highly annoying). I tried the usual stuff: cleaning the discs and cleaning the CD reader lens, but to no avail. So I decided to replace it.
I looked at various models and was leaning toward the Onkyo DXC390 6 Disc CD Changer, but it was too large to fit in my stereo cabinet. I’m glad I bought the Cambridge Audio CD player instead, even though it was more expensive. Full disclosure: I also bought the KabelDirekt 3ft RCA Stereo Audio Cable, since the cable I was using for the Pioneer PD 202 was just as ancient as the CD player.
After I connecting everything, I cranked up the volume and put on one of my favorite CD mixes. Boy, does it sound GREAT! The Cambridge Audio AXC35 works beautifully and the sound is clear and crisp. LOL! I’m not sure if I’m hearing more than I heard using the old Pioneer, but it certainly sounds good and no more skipping! The remote is easy to use and you can program the Cambridge Audio CD player to play only the tracks you want, but I haven’t done that yet. I will if I make a cassette. Yes, I have a dual cassette player (see photos). Old technology is fine, especially if you have an old truck with a cassette player, which I do.
I honestly don’t know how much the new wires affected the sound quality, but I think they made a difference. A better connection is, well, better. I think they were worth the money and I know it didn’t HURT the sound, right?
FYI, my system is made up of vintage/semi-vintage components: A Marantz Model 2235B Stereophonic Receiver, circa 1975-1976, a Fisher MT-32 Semi Automatic Turntable, circa early 1990s, and a Technics Stereo Cassette Deck RS-TR 373, circa early 1990s. The Cambridge Audio AXC35 fits right in and is a great addition to my system. I highly recommend it!

I've been playing around with various external DACs for the last year. The Wolfson DAC in this Cambridge CD player is night and day compared to what I had before. It's loud, dynamic, rich and meaty. Your CD collection will sound so much better and make you angry you didn't buy this earlier. For $350 it's absolutely amazing.

Love it! Just what I needed for my old CD collection. Love the analog and Digital outputs! Sounds great!

I purchased the player in April and it has very little run time. I tried to use it today (~6-months later) and it would not power up? I have reached out to Cambridge Audio USA, I hope their aftermarket customer service makes up for the disappointing product reliability.....
