Spot-on color accuracy, essential item for product photography
I shoot a lot of product photos and videos. Color has to be dead-on. Customers expect the physical item to match the listing exactly. No room for guesswork.
Setting custom white balance used to eat up time. Time is money. Picked up this Datacolor card to speed up the workflow. They are a known benchmark for color accuracy and this little piece of kit proves it.
It works exactly as advertised. You get a neutral white target and a 6-step grayscale strip. Slap it in your frame under your actual lighting setup. Take a custom reading in your camera. Locked in. It strips out weird yellow or green color casts before I even touch a computer.
Here is the catch on the build quality. The card is made of thick matte cardstock. Not plastic.
It is definitely an indoor-only tool. Keep it away from moisture. You have to handle it strictly by the very edges. If you get dirty hands or skin oil on the paper surface, it will stain and ruin the calibration. There might be a technical reason for the material choice. Just respect it.
Size is incredibly convenient. Exactly the footprint of a credit card, it fits in your pocket. It comes with a thin black storage envelope. That actually caused a minor headache for me. It blends in way too well inside a dark camera bag. I plan to wrap the sleeve in some bright tape so I can actually find it among all my other black gear.
Great value for a pro-grade tool. Highly recommended if you sell products or shoot serious content.
Five stars.

A photographers friend...
Add one of these to your photography kit and you'll soon realize that I didn't use it to adjust the photo I posted here... 😂 (gimme a break - i was in a hurry!)
These are a great way of telling Photoshop (and other software) what EXACTLY white/grey/black should look like. Use one test photo with this, Take another identical pic, then use a dropper selection for white balance, and it will make your photos pop right back into reality without any yellow or green cast, making the whole thing look so much better.
I really like how portable and discreet this little card is, but I do wish it came with a better way to protect it. It simply comes in a vellum wrap inside a cardboard sleeve. Not the worst thing in the world, but some sort of plastic sleeve with at least a little more protection would've been nice for the price.
Still, once I learned how to use these tools, it drastically reduced my "fiddling" time in PS and made things look much more accurate when it cam to color. You'll be amazed the first few times you use this to correct white balance.
Easily and highly recommended!!

Very small, but useful
I've got a more expensive color checker, but I don't usually use the color swatches since doing white, grey and black balance gets me close enough to what I need in most circumstances. But I keep the color checker in the studio. So I'm glad to have this less expensive grey card for taking with me.
It's pretty basic, and a bit small to eye dropper off of unless you are framed tight when holding it up. The swatches match my other color checker, except for one which is very slightly different.
The card does not come with a sturdy case. Instead it comes with a cardstock sleeve. The sleeve is helpful, but I wish it were sturdier and more protective since this is the checker I want to travel with rather than the bulkier, more expensive color checker.
Overall, though, I'm happy with this order even though it feels kind of expensive for what it is.

Gets the job done
If you're needing a quick check for white balance, this does the trick.
Pros: consistent color management through using the same card over and over. Works well if you have your monitor calibrated by a tool from the same manufacturer. Small and portable.
Cons: I'm worried about long term durability. It's made of paper with a plastic layer on top. I wouldn't want to get it wet. Living in the Pacific Northwest, this may be an issue. There is no convenient way to store or hang it either.
For the price, it gets the job done. I cannot complain. But I wish more thought was put into some quality of life improvements. I'll probably punch a hole in it and attach it to a lanyard.

Works as described and so much easier to adjust my settings now..
This white balance card is such a useful tool for anyone who enjoys photography. It makes it easy to achieve accurate colors and consistent white balance, whether shooting indoors or outdoors. The card is lightweight, durable, and easy to keep in my camera bag, so it's always available when I need it. It is made of heavy cardstock and comes with a protective envelope.
I've noticed a big improvement in the color accuracy of my photos, which also saves time during editing. It's well-made, easy to use, and works exactly as expected. For photographers of any skill level, this is a practical accessory that delivers great results at an excellent value.

Makes White Balance So Much Easier
This is a great little card to keep in a camera kit, especially if you care about getting your white balance right before you start shooting. It’s one of those simple tools that doesn’t look exciting, but it makes the setup process a lot cleaner.
What I like about this one is that it gives me a quick way to set a custom white balance instead of relying on auto white balance and hoping the camera figures it out. That’s especially helpful when filming indoors where lights can make everything look too warm, too green, or just slightly off.
I can see this being really useful before recording talking head videos, product shots, or any setup where skin tones and whites need to look more accurate. It’s small enough to keep in the bag all the time, so there’s really no reason not to have it nearby.
The grayscale strip is a nice bonus, but for me the main reason to use this is the white balance card itself. It helps get a more natural image from the start and cuts down on how much correcting I need to do later.

Can use to set white balance , not as flexible as grey card, expensive
I've been setting white balance with expensive datacolor or x-rite color check passports for the best part of a decade.
I've tried smaller key ring grey cards and not found a consistent neutral one, so was happy to try this SpyderCherkr white balance card.
Its larger than credit card sized and only slightly smaller than the plastic encased color checkers.
Instructions say it needs to be stored in its card sleeve and this adds to the bulk, so you can't slip this easily into a wallet
The card is neutral and matches well to the premium color calibration tools.
so it does its job, if you are within the required exposure range: Note Lightroom won't let you set white balance of a very bright white target , hence the grey target is more forgiving in more situations.
However, even though it works , I feel this particular white card is not good value and I do not feel datacolor make the case to use this white balance card over the very similar grey card they also sell.
The mid grey card has the advantage of being able to confirm 'correct' exposure in addition as setting the white balance so it gives an extra function over this white balance card.
At $20 each card these are expensive and I feel they could easily have had grey one side and white the other , especially as the card needs to be stored in a protective envelope.
Summary :
Expensive and for most users , the grey card offers more functionality and better value than this white card
Neither card provides the precise control over other colors that the passport style devices do, although the color control devices cost even more.
No instructions are provided , you have to scan on a QR code to download something so small is easier to read on a PC
My recommendation would be to choose the very similar grey card , rather than this white card.

Love This!
I did not know these cards existed and was super excited when I saw it! It is very well made and comes with a thick paper case to protect it. It's thin and a bit bigger than a credit card so it is easy to slip into your pocket or camera carrying case. All the shades look like true white, black, and grays.
This will make editing in Photoshop or camera raw so much easier! I don't have to trust my eyes alone to balance the color. It is made out of a thick, matte paper so there is no glare when light hits it. I would recommend this to any level of photographer!

Functional, but will it hold up?
Full-time wedding photographer here. I honestly don't typically pay much attention to white balance while I'm shooting. Though I recognize the benefit to "getting it right in-camera" in terms of exposure, with white balance it's not important if you're shooting RAW, as there's no loss of quality when adjusting it in post.
In addition, setting a custom white balance in-camera is not practical in most scenarios I find myself shooting in, because I'm often moving around the church or venue, with different light sources (cooler natural light from windows, warmer artificial light, and sometimes even mixed with daylight balanced bulbs if the person doing the shopping doesn't understand the difference) all blending together in varying amounts depending on where I am. So, as a result, any custom white balance that I shoot is quickly going to be obsolete when I move to a different part of the space.
However, there are a couple of scenarios in which I find it useful to at least take a shot of a white balance or grey card, to enable me to quickly set the white balance in Lightroom afterward for that particular series of photos. For instance, I might go ahead and capture this reference shot at the altar of the church, since this will likely be consistent during most or all of the ceremony.
Similarly, a white balance reference for the formal group shots (which, again, will be an extensive series of shots in the same lighting) can be useful. And no, you cannot use the bride's dress or a white shirt for this, because white clothing often contains UV brighteners, which appear with a blueish cast when photographed in daylight, so using these as your white balance reference will throw everything else off.
Enter this product. I ordered it intending to keep it in my belt pouch to have handy for the above mentioned examples. And it works fine for this. But I was a little disappointed when it arrived and I found it's just paper/cardstock. Though the item details don't mention it specifically, I was expecting (for the price) that this would be a plastic-encased product. So, I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up over the course of being used. A paper sleeve is included, but it's a bit large, making it a little more challenging to store in the pouch.

Useful little white balance card for more accurate product photos
I got this SpyderCheckr Photo White Balance Card because I take a lot of product photos, and lighting can really change how colors look in pictures. This is compact and easy to keep nearby when I’m taking photos, especially for items where the color needs to look accurate.
The card has a large white balance area and a grayscale strip on the side, so it is helpful for checking exposure and tones. I like that it comes with its own black sleeve/envelope to protect it when not in use. The card itself feels lightweight but sturdy enough for regular photo use.
It is especially useful when taking photos under different lighting, like daylight, indoor lamps, or flash. I can include it in a test shot first, then use it as a reference when editing so the whites and colors look more natural. For product reviews, this is helpful because I want the photos to show the item as close to real life as possible.
This is a simple but practical tool for anyone who takes product photos, content photos, or wants better color accuracy. It is small, easy to use, and helpful for getting cleaner, more consistent-looking images.

Yellow streak!
Mine came new out of the box with a yellow streak. Poor quality control from a typically good brand. I got the gray version of this card as well. It came perfect. The tones pretty much matches my bigger version. Even if mine wasn't defective, I would recommend the gray card. It's much more useful and you can white balance off of gray. It should be called neutral balance anyway! Gray reflects more colors so white balances are slightly more accurate. This size is good to put in a camera bag, but bigger cards are more useful, they just might not be as packable.

Hobbyist Photographer Approved!
I’m really happy with the SpyderCheckr Photo White Balance Card. The quality feels excellent, and it’s a great value for such a useful tool. I love that it combines two tools in one with a spectrally neutral white target and a 6-step grayscale strip, making it easy to get accurate color and exposure reference quickly.
The compact size is perfect for keeping in my camera bag without taking up space, and it’s especially helpful when shooting on location. It’s a quick and efficient way to balance whites on the go, saving time in both the shoot and editing process. Simple, portable, and effective—definitely a handy tool for any photographer.

datacolor makes EXCELLENT products
I have a few datacolor products and they are all excellent products. This White Balance Card is easy to use, just take a picture of it under the conditions that you are using, and then use it to create a profile in your photo processing software. Your software should contain instructions on how to set the White Balance, which can then be used on all photos shot under the same conditions.
If you are using a zoom lens, just zoom in as far as you can to the card. If you are using fixed lenses, you can use a different lens to zoom in closer, but make sure it has the same characteristics of the lens(es) that you will be using.
When not in use, be sure to keep the card in the tissue paper and envelope so that it does not discolor. When not in use, it MUST be kept in the dark, which the envelope provides. BEST

SpyderCheckr Photo White Balance Card
This white balance card is a useful tool for photographers and videographers who want a quick way to set custom white balance and confirm correct exposure in-camera. The combination of the white slate and integrated grayscale strip makes it easy to dial in a more accurate color before you even start editing.
The card itself is very portable, but quite small! It's roughly the size of a credit card, so it will slip easily into your camera bag, pocket, or accessory pouch without taking up too much space. That said, the compact size is also a severe limitation. While great for portability, it's best suited for smaller photography setups, tabletop work, tightly framed portraits, etc. On larger sets or in wider scenes, this card would be too difficult to position prominently enough for an accurate reading. The grayscale strip also appears somewhat powder coated. Mine showed signs of scratching fairly easily, and I could see these colors potentially wearing or flaking over time with enough use.
I was also a little surprised by the construction overall. The card itself is essentially a piece of cardstock with a cardboard style backing, rather than a more rigid plastic or composite material. Sure, it works fine right out of the box! But it doesn't feel particularly premium, nor built for rugged use and years of banging around inside a camera bag. While fine for the price, I do wish it offered some more protection for longevity.
It's a functional and affordable white balance card that does its job well! The color targets are useful, the size is convenient, and it can certainly help with setting white balance in certain shooting situations. Just keep your expectations realistic regarding durability, as this feels mostly like an entry level tool rather than a piece of gear you'll keep for a lifetime.

To expensive for the quality but it works.
Grayscale strip is a little small. My other one is the same size but it uses the front and back so much easier to target the grayscale that you need. The construction is OK but it feels a little cheap with unfinished edges. This is a $10 card that they want $20 for really.
It also comes with no protective case just a paper slip envelope. My other one has built-in plastic door doors that pop open on the front in the back and I think it cost the same amount, so even though this is definitely adequate it's build quality and design does not warrant the price point.
I have the slip cards that are all riveted together. That only cost eight dollars that give you a large surface and have protective slip case. The Calibrite is more expensive, but it folds into a wallet for excellent protection. These are not this product would show you what alternatives to this are.

Simple and Effective White Balance Card for Accurate Colors
As a hobby photographer, I'm always looking for ways to improve color accuracy straight out of the camera, and this white balance card does exactly that. It's a simple tool, but it can make a noticeable difference when shooting in difficult lighting conditions or when you want consistent color across a photo session. The card features a large neutral white balance target along with grayscale reference patches that can be used for exposure and color correction. It's credit-card sized, lightweight, and easy to keep in a camera bag without taking up any extra space. The included protective sleeve is a nice touch and helps keep the card clean and protected. I've used it both to set custom white balance in-camera and as a reference during RAW processing. It provides a reliable baseline for correcting color casts caused by indoor lighting, shade, or mixed light sources. It's especially useful when shooting portraits or products where accurate colors matter. Like any calibration tool, it's not something you'll use in every single photo, but when color accuracy is important, it's great to have available. Overall, this is a simple, affordable tool that can help improve color consistency and reduce time spent correcting white balance during editing. A worthwhile addition to any photographer's gear bag.

Very good white balance card made by a reputable brand!
I’m a professional Videographer by trade, so finding quality accessories is a must. The saying “Buy it once, or buy it twice” reigns true, and you won’t find a comparable brand for color correction tools and other utilities. I’ve owned the monitor calibrator by SpyderCheckr (I believe they make that), and my family has also owned their products for years. As far as quality goes, they make some of the best.
Pros
- Portability; It’s small and compact, but offers the same quality as a gray card (in a smaller package)
- Quality of material; almost feels like cotton, or something more premium, not just cheap flat plastic.
Con’s
- No cons yet!
Overall, if you are looking for a portable solution to white balance your footage, you can trust the quality of this brand, and get yourself one of these white balance cards!
