Just like all of the other Godox flashes. This is a great being simple.

The reason this flash is nice to have, is because it's a flash you can ALWAYS have with you. In fact, you can always have it attached to your camera and it's there when your need it. It's so small it's not really adding any weight. It has a very nice quality of light and seems to be consistent over the power range.

It's powerful enough to be useful. The battery life is quite decent and it's simple USB-C to recharge. This flash is better than a pop up flash too. More flexible also. If you add the Godox hot shoe riser you gain a few more benefits. No shadows from long lenses and the ability to bounce and move the flash a little further off axis from the sensor. It also add weight, cost and some slight complexity. Just an idea.

This flash is built really nice for such a small and lightweight unit. I really like that. It feels solid. The buttons are responsive and it's easy to navigate. It's very simple though. Not lots of fancy features. It has just enough to be useful and easy to use. It's also easy to get good results. The TTL on a flash like this is fantastic. Makes it so very simple. You can then dial the flash up and down in small increments if you choose. You can also control the light on manual mode. It's simple yet powerful. Full power to 1/32 power in 1/3 increments. Simple and easy to get started with flash photography. But still useful and unique enough to be useful to a pro.

I will always have this or the newer iT32 with me. That's another amazing and useful flash. This iT20 is the minimum for TTL flash. The iT32 is the minimum fancy, wireless and more standard flash design. While being very different from a standard flash design. It's wild!

I've found this flash too be the perfect item to keep in my travel backpack. I do have another larger flash in there too, but that's for different situations than this one. This one always goes with me to shoot. The iT32 for more specific situations.

I own quite a bit if Godox lighting gear. LED video lights, strobes, speedlights and some other specialty items. They set the standard for more affordable yet professional quality lighting. It's popular for a reason. Flashes like this and a number of other recent releases have made everyone take notice. It's crazy how many products they've introduced. It's one big system and I'm all over it. I'm a big fan of this flash and all of the other Godox units I've purchased.

Small and light but packs a punch

I have a Sony ZV1 and an Alpha 6000 and this flash works well with both of them. Despite it's small size it packs a punch and has the versatility of a manual and TTL mode. It doesn't have a ton of adjustment options, which for a novice like me, is a plus. When a product has accessories or a screen, it demands a pouch to keep everything together and to minimize scratches and a good one is included. Good value.

Amazing little flash!

Combined with a nifty fifty this little flash does a great job for its size. The fit and finish is top of the line. The internal battery had enough for the 50 shots I took. Not nearly powerful enough to shoot outside in daylight, but at night it did great! It was perfectly compatible with my Sony A7iii. I was able to use the magnetized filters to adjust the color temperature for fun shots. Changing power output was simple, though I needed full power the whole time.

Overall the quality is great for something to shoot around with indoors in low light situations. It's so small that it can fit in your pocket easily!

A fantastic small flash

I mean they do not get much smaller than this! I will also say that this is the brightest flash at this size I have ever used. They also include 3 filters with the flash so you can get some different color temps from this flash. They just slide right into the front of the flash.

Something to keep in mind is that this flash just works with Sony cameras.

For the price I feel this is an excellent value. This is the perfect little flash when you are shooting in confined spaces. Think of something like a birthday party in a living room or something like that. The small size adds next to zero bulk to your camera setup but still provides plenty of punch for light.

Great tiny pocketable flash to light up people and subjects or provide catch lights in the eyes

I sometimes need a little fill in flash, just to light some shadows or give a little catch light in a subject's eyes, and this tiny flash does just that. It's great that it's capable of TTL (Through The Lens), meaning it can adjust to the camera's onboard metering system, so I can just pop it on my Sony A74 camera, adjust how strong I want the flash to be, and I can just take photos and forget about it.

It's so small that it's easy to pack, and super light and out of the way when it's on the camera. The caveat is that it sits low on the camera, so a longer lens can block out the light from the lower part of your picture. I tested it with my Sigma 28-70mm f2 zoom lens that's 4" long from the camera, and it didn't have a lens shadow at the 28mm wide angle. Then I tested it on my Sony 24-105mm f4 zoom lens that's 5" long from the camera, and at 24mm wide angle, it did show a lens shadow in the bottom part of the image.

The light from the flash is also straight on from the lens, so it fills in the shadows of your subject. Though it flattens the overall image, it also minimizes wrinkles on faces by filling in the shadows. The flash is small, but powerful, so I turn down the power so it doesn't blast and wash out the picture with light, and keep it bright enough to give that catchlight in the eyes that I like.

It's also great for common everyday use, like for family gathering or events when you just want to see people and subjects in pictures well, as most higher end cameras don't have build in flash nowdays.

Astoundingly good and tiny TTL flash with a caveat

Wow. This Lilliputian flash is amazing. It provides a shocking amount of light and disperses it quite evenly over a large area. Controls are simple and the TTL function works well, but I did find myself setting it to slightly underexpose to avoid washed-out areas. I routinely underexpose without a flash for this save reason. I can always recover dark areas in post.

It is extremely small and weighs almost nothing at all. Being rechargeable limits its use in the field where you cannot recharge, but I would expect this to be used as an adjunct light you always have in your bag when you need a little fill.

The one significant limitation to mention is that this flash so low-profile that many, if not most, lenses on my Sony A7iv will interfere with the light from the flash, creating a shadow in the bottom of the frame, especially if the lens hood is attached. The photo shown of a blank wall was taken with the 35mm f1.4 GM with the hood attached. The shadow cast by the lens is obvious. Sometimes the issue is not as much the length of the lens as it is the diameter, like with this 35mm f1.4.

HOWEVER, there is a inexpensive and effective solution--the Godox TR-S TTL hotshoe extender, which not only lifts the iT20-S high enough to prevent shadows with many more, but not all lenses. You can also tilt the flash when mounted on this extender, allowing a bounce flash, which is another way to limit shadows when using on larger lenses. Together, the pair are bulkier, of course, but still so lightweight, you'll hardly notice them. I would imagine that there are other TTL hotshoe extenders, possibly from other makers, that are even taller.

The charging port is USB-C. There is a simple, but effective charge level indicator.

Good everyday flash. Better with manual and TTL is useful with raw file but a little underexposed

This is a great little flash for your personal use or small volunteer events where you need just jpegs to satisfy your requirements. I wouldn't use it for professional use, as it is not meant for that kind of use. I have not been able to use in any shoots yet but I tested out the functionalities. The flash is quiet powerfull for its size. After using it for a couple of at-home subjects, I found one flaw. The TTL mode on my unit seems to be fully automatic. The dial lets you do +0.3 to +2.0, but it doesn't affect the power output of the flash in TTL mode. The manual mode works exactly as it should. It goes from 1/32 power to full power. I have gotten the best performance with the manual mode. Although the TTL mode is not to my taste because it makes the picture a little underexposed for my liking, many photographers like the underexposed flash photos, and later they edit to proper exposure. Since this is meant for those casual photos, I don't want to spend time editing, and that's why I wouldn't recommend using the TTL mode if you just want to take JPEGs for personal use.

I attached some pictures. The first 4 pictures are using TTL mode on different flash output with TTL mode and the last picture is with proper exposure on manual mode. As you can see the first 4 pictures are exposed identically and little underexposed. It won't matter if you take with RAW and edit a little, but if you want to shoot JPEGs, I wouldn't recommend TTL mode.

Almost perfect except one flaw

I have loved the manual im20 flash but now the it20s adds full connections for Sony providing TTL in the most tiny package.

I tested the it20 with the Sony A7R V + Sigma 85mm f1.4 FE + lens hood and although the it20 is the lower version (vs the it22) it still cleared the lens and hood with no shadow! Obviously longer lenses may cast a lens shadow but that's what the it22 is for.

Dialed in with the back buttons it creates the perfect little bit of fill source to assist with high contract situations. Pictured with the pup, first photo without flash and the other with the it20 set at -2 for a gentle natural look.

The included magnetic diffuser and gells are just brilliant, not sure how to carry them with out loosing them because they are so small, but a fantastic addition that is greatly appreciated. Now we just need a tiny little softbox!

My biggest issue with all these little flashes from godox is that the power and mode buttons are on the wrong side! Most if not all cameras have the grip on the right side, why did godox put the buttons on the left? It would have been awesome to reach up and hit the power button with my grip hand. I know it's a minor thing but it would have made a huge difference in the usage of this as a fill flash as you don't need it all the time.

Despite that minor complaint the it20s is a great little pocket flash, my im20 won't get much use now, the it20s will always be charged and ready in my camera bag no matter where I go!

Great TTL Compact Flash for Sony Camera

I really missed having a pop-up flash on my Sony A7, and this Godox TTL flash has been the perfect solution. It’s super compact, charges quickly, and the rechargeable battery lasts a long time. The light quality is great, and I love the adjustable power, manual mode, and the included magnetic diffuser and gels. It fits securely on the hot shoe and is easy to pop on and off.

The only small drawback is that with longer lenses at close range, you can get a shadow from the lens, but zooming in or stepping back solves it. Overall, it’s lightweight, easy to carry, and an excellent substitute for a pop-up flash at a great price.

Ultra-compact, powerful flash that nails it on both form and function

This little flash really surprised me, in a good way. The Godox iT20-S may look small, but it delivers a ton of versatility, especially for everyday or travel shooters who want to avoid lugging around bulky lighting gear. I mainly got it for more creative fill light and BTS-style lighting when I shoot mirrorless, and it’s exceeded expectations.

WHAT I LOVE

The included accessories alone make this a standout: three light filters (including CTO for warmth), a diffusion dome, and a sleek carrying bag that fits everything without being bulky. Having everything in one zip-up pouch makes this kit feel like a premium, thoughtful purchase. No extra cases or aftermarket mods needed, it’s all ready to go out of the box.

PERFORMANCE

The Smart TTL tech works exactly as promised, well-balanced exposures automatically and adjusts quickly to changing scenes. This has made it perfect for spontaneous portraits and on-the-go street shots. The 1.5s recycle time at full power is fast enough for most casual to intermediate use, and I’ve been getting well over 600 shots per charge, so the internal lithium battery is reliable and efficient.

At only 45g, the flash is barely noticeable on the camera. It’s compact enough that it doesn’t overwhelm smaller mirrorless bodies. Build quality is solid. plastic but not cheap feeling. and the tilt/swivel head adds more creative control than I expected from a flash this size.

FILTERS & DIFFUSION

The filters and diffuser are honestly some of my favorite parts. The color gels slide into place easily, and the spreader softens light just enough to avoid harsh shadows without losing direction. These are real creative tools, not just gimmicky accessories, and very helpful in tungsten light environments too.

This specific model is the iT20-S, which is designed for Sony TTL systems. It communicates seamlessly with Sony cameras (a7 series, a6400, ZV-E10, etc.) using TTL autoflash, meaning exposure is handled automatically, or you can use it on other cameras in manual (depending on what you have).

This flash punches far above its weight. This is a great value compact TTL flash. A fantastic creative tool in manual mode too, especially if you already shoot that way. The accessories, compact design, and smart power controls make it a perfect addition to a lightweight setup or for run-and-gun style shoots.

Great portable TTL flash for my A9M3 with some limitations

This is an extremly portable TTL flash for Sony cameras that could be charger on the go. It works flawlessly with my Sony A9III. Fairly easy to set up and almost effortless to get it working.

I tested 3 lenses: 70-200 F2.8 II G-Master, Sony 85mm f1.8 G, and Samyang 35mm/2.8 FE. The G-Master is huge in filter size and much longer than the other two, and yes it did cast a huge shadow on the bottom half of the image. While it was used with my two prime lenses, no shadow at all. Even with the hood on, image created with the 85mm f1.8 lens does not show any shadows. So for shooting portaits with less than 85mm focal length, this flash should be fine.

The output power can be adjusted with the + or - buttons on the back, and there is a Mode button on the side. Output power could be adjusted from Full (1) to 1/32 at 0.3 incrementals in the Manual mode. By pressing the M button, TTL and Manual modes could be selected. In TLL mode, you can have flash compensation up to +/- 3 EVs.

It is a top mounted flash and yes the light is very hard. This mimics the CCD taste harsh lighting images that young people are fasinated about. The kit does come with 3 filters: light diffuser, lighter (warm) filter and darker (warmer) filter. All filters could be snapped on to the flash magnetically. I uploaded some images here for comparions.

The flash is charged via a USB-C cable which can be plugged to the wall or even via a power bank on the go. This is a big plus.

Excellent mini flash with TTL

As an owner of both the Godox IM20 and the IT20, I can say this is basically a better, improved version of the IM20—now with TTL. Both share the same compact size, USB-C charging, quick recycling, and manual flash modes, but the addition of TTL is huge. On my Sony A7IV, it works perfectly on the hot shoe and makes using a flash in darker environments much easier since it essentially acts as “auto” for flash.

Like other mini flashes, if you’re using a longer lens, you may notice some shadowing. And because it sits low and isn’t angled, the photos lean toward a flatter, point-and-shoot look—great if you like that retro style or just want to brighten up your environment. For under $45, it’s an excellent, portable flash that barely takes up space in your camera bag. The included magnetic filters and diffusers are a nice bonus too. TTL is a welcome upgrade, and I’m glad Godox brought it to their mini flash lineup.
