I love that Jennifer Nielsen writes books that can be enjoyed by middle grade readers and their parents, as well. I read this book with my son. And we both enjoyed it so much!
Atlas was such a complex character. He's a teen on the adventure of a lifetime with his dad, climbing Mount Everest. His dad's plan all along was for Atlas to stay at one of the Base camps. But Atlas has other ideas. He wants to head to the top.
I loved the way Atlas learns about himself. He and his friend, Maddie and their Sherpa guide, have to head to the top when there is an accident. And this teaches them more about themselves than any thing else could. They learn to work together. They learn to be careful where they step. And just when all seems lost, things work out in a way no one expected.
This book will take you on a grand adventure! I loved it so much!
