So glad I read this one!
I grew up reading Patricia St. John and watching some of the movie adaptations (anyone else??). But I never had read “Star of Light” until now. I’m so glad I now have!
The setting is in North Africa, and follows the story of a young boy Hamid and his baby sister Kinza. Kinza is blind and their stepfather is determined to sell her into slavery. Hamid must step in to save her and escapes in the night with Kinza tied to his back.
Over the next several months, through the ministry of a missionary nurse, Hamid learns of Jesus - and the peace and joy found in Him even when life circumstances may not improve. A hope and peace that is lasting.
This is definitely a book I want to read with my kids when they are slightly older. I’m looking forward to reading more of the Patricia St. John books I missed as a child.
