Schumacher SEV1600HW Level 2 EV Wall Charger

Does the job

Electrician didn’t have trouble installing it. WiFi and Bluetooth wasn’t too hard to set up. Not a 5 star because my model x did not take charge to the 48v probably because of the adapter, 3rd piece.

Perfect Charger

I love this charging station. Fast charging takes 5 to 6 hours when The battery is low. Best investment I’ve made besides buy my Kia EV9

Charging GOOD; app BAD

I got the hardwired version (SEV1600HW) in June 2023 and had an electrician install a 60amp breaker and install the EV charger.

The things I like most are the long 25’ cord, the slim profile of the unit, and the dual cradle. I have a 60a breaker so configured the unit for the 11.5kW and 48 amperage so the power is close to what I expected.

I researched the unit before I purchased it and knew the app was not good, but didn’t think I would care about that since I can also get charging data from the car app. The app works, but it is really basic and unreliable.

The unit had a relay malfunction in Jan 2026 (the red flashing light) and would not charge the car. Fortunately, it was still under the 3 year warranty, so after I maneuvered through the Schumacher warranty process, I received a replacement which I was easily able to install myself. Hopefully, this one will work longer than 2.5 years.

Love It!!

Love this charger! I was initially intimidated by the fact that it had to be hardwired. I am not a do-it-yourselfer, but on the Schumacher EV website you can click on a link to get an installation quote and hire a licensed electrician. Installation only took a few clicks and my credit card. My kind of DIY. The installer even walked me through setting up the app, which was easy. And I know it’s not the most important thing, but I like that you can hang up the gun from either direction and it doesn’t stick out into the garage for me to constantly knock off with my car mirror. I looked at some other chargers and that was all I could picture.

It works very well

I feel as though I got a great deal on this charger. I had an electrician install the outlet and mounting hardware for me in the garage, I plugged in the charger, and started charging my car. Super simple. I don’t use the smart features, as I just control everything with my Kia app, so I can’t comment on that functionality. All I know is that charging is quick and efficient and this beast is super-solid and feels of very high quality. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

Solid charger for any ev

This charger does it’s job well. The hardwired version of this charger wires directly into your electric panel and is good for up to 50 amps. That is plenty for my Plug in Hybrid and gets me charged from 0 to 100 in a little over two hours (due to my charge rate limitation on my car). You can hang the charger on either side of the unit. The app is Shupower and works well. Installing is recommended by an electrician unless you are really comfortable with wiring in your panel. This is rated for indoor or outdoor use but mine is mounted inside. The housing is all plastic and the internals are well sealed. Overall a good charger from a well known brand.

Fast!

This hardwired level two charger is the fastest one I’ve ever used. I installed it in my garage using six gauge wire. It charges my car super fast and hasn’t had any problems yet. It seems around 40% faster than the charger that comes with the car.

It seems like super high-quality and very durable, the cord is very heavy duty. The charging box itself is very stylish and I love that it has a port on each side to hold the charger.

I haven’t used the smart features yet because I don’t really have a need. My electricity is the same price all day long. If I moved to a city that charged less in the evening, it would be a great feature to have, and save money.

Would definitely recommend this charger. They don’t get any faster than this
