Decent value. Straightforward interface.. hardware design could be improved
I have one of these. Actually it is pretty good overall. There is one bad design flaw I found recently. it will probably not affect >90% of people that have this sitting in one location and never move it. I moved house 2 times and this moved with me. The power became intermittent and then failed completely. It was a poor connection at the power connector. The PCB and power connector soldering is pretty small and weak and the traces cracked. I opened the box and managed to solder the ground side of the connector to a through hole on the board nearby and the other had to solder a wire to the zener diode which was just a little further away. Larger pads are needed for the power and ground as well as some glue or hot melt to make this more robust. Most other things about it is good. It would be nice if the software could give live feedback on signal strength by channel like my TV does. I believe there is an iPhone App that is compatible GH signal or something that works but it would be nice to just have it built into the SW instead of just a red/green bar.

Great product.
Easy to install for this 67 year old grand-mother. Solved my problem to record OTA and the signal is much better than just going straight into the TV. It must have a signal booster in it. My husband will complain that his TV isn’t getting a certain channel and I tell him to switch the app to HD-Homerun and it comes in clear as a bell. Thank you Silicon Dust.

HDHomeRun and a good antenna work great for free local channels!
I just installed the HDHomerun box and an attic antenna a couple weeks ago. The HDHomerun is patched into one of my Deco Mesh units that is hard wired. I have 9 TVs in my house (all Samsungs except one). Some older ones that are not smart TVs I have fire sticks. I installed the HD Homerun app on the firesticks and it is a great app. The interface is almost like a regular cable guide (indicates the upcoming shows and times, etc). The rest of my TVs are smart TVs and I installed the M3U IPTV app to see the channels from the HDHomerun box. I had to put the IP address of my box in the app to see the channels. To be honest the interface is not great with this app (and I tried a couple other IPTV apps to test) AND M3U IPTV is just slow to tune in some channels. Sometimes I had to keep trying by jumping to a channel close to the channel I wanted and come back to get certain ones to come in. Meaning say I wanted CBS channel 2.1. It would just sit there with a black screen. I then went to channel 2.2 and once I got that to come in, I would go back to 2.1 and then it would finally come in (and it is a strong channel). I ended up just getting more firesticks even for my smart TVs with the HDHomerun app and it is so much faster (channels come in immediately) and again almost like a regular cable guide. I live in Allison Park, PA which is just north (slightly east) of Pittsburgh PA and I get 75 channels with my HDHomerun and attic antenna. Again my mesh is hard wired to my home network and one of the Deco Mesh devices is now the primary router (All i had to do was unplug my Fios router and plug in the first Deco mesh and it automatically obtained all my IP info and became the primary mesh/router and then I plugged in the other 2 Deco Mesh units to my network in other areas of my house. Some TVs connect hard wired as well, but others are wifi and all my firesticks connect via wifi. I think that is key is to have the best possible signal with the firesticks to your HDHomerun to get the best experience. I leveraged Cat5e cabling in my house when I built it. Hope this helps!
