Not great, not durable (slightly hazardous)

Standout wasn't anything special. Didn't last long either, 2 years of light use and the metal went, cutting me pretty well when it went.

Last 1 yr and 8 months then it tore

Lasted exactly 1 year and 8 months then it tore on the side. Worked well up until then but not worth the money.

Nice tape for a short time

I love all my Tajima tools so I decided to try one of their tapes despite the high price. For a few months I enjoyed using the tape, although it was harder than most to get in and out of my toolbelt. However, for what these cost, and the fact they are called a “strong” tape, I have to give it 2 stars. The tape itself just sheered off without warning at the 5 1/2” mark one day without any prior bending/creasing, delaminating or other kind of damage that would have weakened that spot. I used it infrequently for about 4 months up til then and find they have a 3 month warranty. I like trying out different brands of tape measures but I think this is one tool I won’t be buying more of from Tajima.

A sturdy, easy to read high-contrast tape measure.

This is by far the easiest to read tape measure I've ever owned. Plain and simple. You can't bother to talk about accuracy if you can't clearly see your tape.

I can't tell you why more manufacturers don't use a plain black text on white background for their tape blades, because as you can see in the photos, it's just plain easier to make out your measurements. I use mostly Milwaukee tools, and I've got a 25ft. Milwaukee magnetic tape measure that has been my go to for years. It works. BUT, it is noticeably heavier than the Tajima, and quite a bit larger, and to be honest, I don't find myself needing more than 10-12 ft of tape very often. Also, when I'm cutting tile or stone on my wet saw, at times I'm also laying my tape measure right across my material while I'm cutting so I know I'm cutting straight when ripping a 24" piece of porcelain. And that water will do a number on your tape blade (see the Milwaukee in the photos.) The Tajima has held up against the water much better so far.

Two things I will say that make it less than perfect:

1) It is not constructed of the same rugged material as the Milwaukee, its only plastic, but, it is well protected from drops and impacts by the rubber cage that surrounds the body.

2) the belt clip is extremely tight to the case body, and at times its a bit of a hassle to get it securely clipped to my front pockets. If I was trying to clip it onto a thick leather belt, as some guys do, that would be difficult to do. I will deduct 1/3 star for that, but otherwise a well-built, and easy to use tool.

Great quality tape measure

Contrary to what was reported the 25' tape is made in Japan-at least the 25'/7.5M one is. Also worth noting that the build quality is excellent.

Didn't last that long

I bought it 4 months ago and the tape already ripped out, I expect to last longer than 4 months.
