Great Recording Mix Component for Musicians
The AD-850 is the consumer version of the TASCAM Cd-a580 Professional Rackmount Cassette USB Recorder CD Player. The difference is the A580 has a headphone jack and the A850 has a Mic input jack. Dolby NR is not licensed any more to any cassette deck vendors, but in the recording of music from one source to another, you would not want to clip the highs with noise reduction anyway. The TEAC web site has approved USB memory sticks and firmware updates for these units. The SanDisk Cruzer Spark USB 2.0 64 gb is approved and will record and playback without any skips or clicks along with a list of other memory stick. A cheap memory stick that is too slow to record at a high bitrate will cause issues, so the correct speed memory stick is important. This is not a Tape Deck from the 1980's with all the auto reverse and song skip with Dolby B,C, S and such.... It is a machine to copy music from one format to another cleanly. TASCAM\TEAC are know for there multi-track studio recording equipment. This is a consumer recorder for a musician or song writer to record with. It is a good CD\Tape player also and will play scratched disks accurately and plays the raw signal from cassette tapes very cleanly. But, it is not designed to be a 1980's Tape Player.
