A Classic that Stands the Time
This is the first book I bought for my classroom as a teacher, and it is the only one I took home with me when I retired. The information says it's recommended for grades 5+ but my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students ate up these stories, maybe because they were always used as read aloud books. Their favorite parts were from the section, John and the Devil's Daughter and Other Tales of the Supernatural. It was fun to read them around Halloween, and they often asked me to read them again at later times in the year. The black and white illustrations are beautiful and just enough to pique a child's imagination. This book belongs in every teacher's classroom, and the home of every parent.
