Amazing 👏

Works great. I used it for my locking mailbox to see when the mail is delivered so I don't have to check everyday.

Super simple install

Nice addition to the YoLink universe. Can work with a fairly large gap between the fence and post. Can be mounted inside your yard as long as it receives some sunlight to recharge the internal battery. I mounted mine on the hinge side of a standard resin fence and gate to protect it better from gate users. Not typical placement but works well on these thick gates.

Yolink products are easy to use and to install!!

The outdoor sensors are easy to setup, easy to use and help us feel more secure. It is compatible with our Yolink siren in the house and with that we control how loud we want the sound to be when it goes off.

The simple devices help remind us when the door have been opened and when they are left open. For us the products are with every penny!

Has been working flawlessly for 6 months

I use this for the gate door opening under my deck to turn on 2 LED lights (Onforu 100W Flood Lights Outdoor, 9000lm Bright LED Work Light with Plug, 6500K Daylight White LED Flood Lighting, IP66 Waterproof Security Yard Lights for Yard Garage Stadium 2 Pack) so I can see what I am doing. I have the lights connected to an Energizer® Outdoor Smart Plug Model Number: EOX3-1002-ME1 with a Google Home Automation that can turn the LED lights on/off by voice command as well.

Amazing ease of setup and works consistently!

Amazing!!! Got this to be able to monitor a double gate to make sure it is closed at night. This was by far the easiest device of this type with a hub that I have ever installed!!! One thing I love this does not use wifi it is hard wired ethernet connection and truly plug and play! Once I downloaded the app and plugged this in and scanned the bar code on the hub it installed immediately no problem at all, no playing around with wifi for 20 minutes! Next the sensor it self same procedure scan the bar code from inside the yolink app and added the sensor immediately in fact as soon as it added it, it reported it open woohoo! So easy to integrate with my Alexa as well. Linking the accounts was just as easy and setting up a custom routine was pretty simple. I don't think you actually have to set up a routine once your account is linked and you name your sensor I think you can just ask alexa is my back door gate closed or open and it will report it open or closed. What I wanted to do was ask are all my gates closed since ultimately I was so impressed I got sensors for my other two gates so I have a total of 3. I was so impressed I bought one of the door locks which is amazing and just as easy to install and set up too, I want to get a couple more of those. I included a picture of my alexa app set up should be easy to follow. I you want to check more than one gate or something else from yolink just keep adding actions and it will report back. My routine now checks each gate for me at night when I ask.

Love it - but it lasted less than a year.

Purchased about a year ago. I love how they work. However, one of the sensors had battery failure in about 5 months - not five years. The unit is supposed to be outdoor safe, but died in the last rainstorm. See picture attached. Ironically, I damaged the other sensor unit when putting it up (my fault), and broke one of the two weather latches. That one is still going strong. My experience may be different than yours - but replacing a sensor after one year isn't ok with me.

Funciona excelente

Es bastante bueno. Rápida reacción para ser a batería. recomendable.

Must have a Yo Link Hub to work

Looking at the 4th pic, there is no hub shown. I thought this device would work w a cellphone app given the range they state (standard wifi doesnt go that far).

The first two pics show their documentation which immediately says you need their hub.

Also, wire from fixed base/sending unit to the fixed contact lead is too short if you want to hide the sender; you can probably splice in some wire to extend it but there are 3 wires going into the sender and 2 going into the contact so use care when choosing where to cut if you cut it.

I'm returning mine, dont want their hub and believe the distance claim on un-augmented wifi might be a stretch (not 100% certain as no hub to test, just knowing standand wifi distances).

I wanted a very simple contact indicator on a barn door beyond wifi, this won't work for me.

If you have dogs and forget to close the gate get this

Works great and easy to add to Alexa..now I just ask Alexa if the gate is open and she tells me..I changed the little switch to a commercial overhead door alarm switch,,..Phone alerts are awesome..

Easy configuration, durable hardware, rock-solid connectivity

This was my first YoSmart device and I’m glad to have come across it. I was planning to integrate a gate sensor into Home Assistant. Originally I was going to use a wired contact sensor, but this YoLink sensor was waterproof and saved me from having to run wires along the fence and into the house. Setup was a breeze using their surprisingly nice app (some home automation devices have very basic and poorly designed apps). Connectivity is fantastic to both gates and it integrates seamlessly into Home Assistant. Since I now have the hub, I’ll definitely be looking for other YoSmart devices to add to my home automation.

Range is amazing and it works with Alexa (through yolink app)

My mailbox is up a slight hill, 400’ down a driveway with trees on each side and still the hub works. Pairing it with Alexa, I created a routine that announces when the box is open and current status and when it was last opened.

Mounting the sensor was done with double-sided tape, but it only comes with tape for the large unit and none for the sensors. I hid the wiring under black 3m tape.

The Alexa announcement is fast. I opened and closed the mailbox 6 times in less than 5 seconds and Alexa announced each.

Used a Garage Door Open Alert

My use case is to have a system which gives an auditable alert when the garage door opens, continuous reminder while the garage door remains open and to give a confirmation when the garage door closes. The system also sends alerts to my mobile phone. The mobile phone alert is useful when I am away from home where I am more likely to have my phone with me. The audio alert feature is the most useful because I don’t have to stop what I am doing to go look at a mobile. With this system you can also program it to read a text message telling you specifically what is going on. This is a great system for persons with some technical ability because there are a lot of options and features available for many use cases.

Save time from walking to mailbox for nothing

My mailbox is about 154 feet away from my house. My mail delivery times vary, it can be anywhere from 3 pm -10 pm. I used to check it when I got home from work and found nothing, but I know I have mail due to the USPS Informed Delivery I signed up for. So I would need to keep checking the mailbox until either I got the mail or just went to bed and I would get the mail the following day.

So I wanted something that would alert us when the mail was delivered. I did an internet search and I found this YoLink LoRa Smart Outdoor Contact Sensor. I read reviews and watched YouTube video reviews of it. As I was reading a review and saw that someone decided to go a slightly different route and went with the YoLink LoRa 1/4 Mile Wireless Range Smart Motion Detector. They placed the motion detector inside and on the back of the mailbox. I was going to follow because I liked the idea of the lack of any wires but then discovered the motion sensor does not work in cold weather (32 degrees is the lowest operating temperature and I live where it is colder during the winter months). So I went back to the idea of this, YoLink LoRa Smart Outdoor Contact Sensor.

I bought the YoLink LoRa Smart Outdoor Contact Sensor with Hub. It was easy to set up. I downloaded the app first and created an account. Then I plugged in the hub and connected it to my router (via ethernet cable, it can be connected wirelessly but I like the wired connection, less chance of any issues), and then I added the contact sensor to the app. I tested the sensor first before installing it on the mailbox.

When I was planning my installation on the mailbox, I saw that some installed the sensor inside the mailbox, but I did not want the sensor to get bumped by any mail or packages, so I decided to place the sensor on the outside. I also wanted to have easy access to the battery box. I wanted to easily remove the battery box from the mailbox, so I did not want to tape the box to the mailbox (underneath the mailbox). So I used the double-sided tape that came with the sensor and taped the battery box to an 11 lb round magnet (it takes 11 lbs of force to remove the magnet, the magnet does not weigh 11 lbs). With the magnet on the battery box, I can place the battery box anywhere on my metal mailbox and it is secure enough that it will not fall or detach itself. It is a solid connection. I placed the battery box underneath the mailbox where it is not too noticeable. I installed the sensors in the door area of the mailbox with double-sided tape after I wiped the area with rubbing alcohol for a clean surface.

Once the sensor and box were installed, I then went into the app setting and set up the alerts. I wanted app alerts when the mailbox sensor was opened. At first, I did not get alerts, but then I realized I had to go into my phone app settings and give permission for the YoLink app to give me alerts. Once I did that, it was working great. I work in a different city and I will get notified via app alert that my mailbox has been opened.

This system was easy to install and use. It is easy to add more sensors and devices. A hub can have more than 200+ devices connected to it, plenty if you want to add more devices for home security.

The only critical thing I can say about this is this has an option to get text alerts if the the sensor is opened, but you only get so many texts a month and you will need to pay to subscribe to get more text alerts. But with the app alerts, it is limitless and it alerts me. What else can you ask for? You can get email alerts as well, but the app alerts work great for my needs.

WIth Yolink sensor, I'm notified by Alexa every time my mailbox is opened.

I have a Bellevue mailbox, like the one pictured, with a border around the opening that allows me to install the Yolink sensor battery box inconspicuously tucked in behind the border. The only thing noticeable when you open my mailbox is the Yolink sensor magnet on the mailbox door. I've had this going for 2 years on the same batteries and it has not failed to notify me once. I have it programmed with Alexa in which Alexa announces a typed-out statement saying "your mailbox door has been opened, someone just opened your mailbox" when the mailbox is opened. I had my mail and Christmas cards stolen at Christmas time a few years back and IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. Yolink works perfectly!

Working in mailbox perfectly

I tried both the Yolink indoor and outdoor motion sensors in my mailbox but they only worked about half the time. Replaced them with the gate/door sensor and it's working perfectly. Easy to position the magnetic sensors, and the electronics are small enough to easily fit on the inside of the mailbox. It's also constructed so that changing batteries when needed is very simple. My mailbox is 180 ft from the house with some large trees and cars in between, so it did take a bit of experimenting to find the best location for the hub, but the signal strength is good to strong, so it's working as designed. It also has a spec'd temp range of -4°F – 122°F, so should be fine during the winter in my location, unlike the indoor motion sensor, . Will update if anything changes.

I can finally monitor my fence gate.

This is a great way to tell if someone left the fence gate open and to give me an alert before the dogs get out. Our fence gate is not visible from inside the house, and it is too far away for any Wi-Fi based solution. The only downside is the way that you have to mount the main unit. There are no mounting holes for screws. YoLink only provides double sided 3M tape, which is not going to hold on an outdoor wooden fence gate. My solution was to mount the unit inside of a weatherproof junction box, and screw that onto the wooden gate, as shown in the attached photo. Otherwise, I am very happy with this solution, and it is working very well.

Very functional!

This set perfectly solved two main problems for me: (1) The electric meter reader sometimes does not fully close the side gate and it will later swing wide open by the wind creating a security issue. (2) The motorized driveway gate uses the myQ app and there is no way to trigger a reminder it it has been left open for an certain amount of time (yes, I asked them!). It has happened that it opens by itself or that we forget to close it after some work in the front yard.

Both gates are steel so it is important to add spacers to the magnets as instructed in the manual.

Both sensors are now configured to output a message from the speaker hub every 10 minutes if the gate is still open, which is perfect!!! The app is very functional and has numerous options for any scenarios.

Yes, there are similar units that don't require a hub, but the advantages of Yolink (requiring a cheap hub) are numerous. First of all, communication between devices and the hub uses the relatively new LoRa technology covering much longer distances and using significantly less power than WIFI. This means cheap AA batteries in the sensor last for many years. no need for more expensive Lithium or frequent changes.

Even the speaker-hub only uses about 0.6W of grid power, basically nothing!

Due to limitations of Google home, integration of these sensors is (currently) only partial. While we can check google home to see if the gates are open or closed, we cannot configure them as "trigger actions" for automation due to limitations of the Google implementations. Hopefully that will be eventually solved, the ball is in Google's court! In the meantime, we could theoretically use the Yolink speaker-hub to work around that, for example by having it say "OK google, turn on the porch light" or whatever and the nearby google hub would react to it.

YoLink Outdoor Contact Sensors-speaker hub are an Extremly Impressive Product! Amazing Ecosystem!

The YoLink Smart Outdoor Contact Sensors and speaker hub are easy to install, simple to set up and provide great funtionality. I now get alerts on my cellphone (in app) every time one of the screen doors to my Lanai is opened or closed. I purchased and installed two of these (one for each screen door). I also get separate alerts if either of these doors are left ajar for longer than a predetermined length of time. Great product! Great ecosystem.

Easy install and works!

With a wired internet to the hub it took hardly any time to connect the hub, install the app, and “bind” it to the hub and gate sensor. The half inch gap from gate frame to gate doesn’t appear to be an issue and we easily set up a “open more than a minute” alert. Perfect!

Previously used and missing part

Are you serious? Someone used this, sent it back without one of the pieces (magnetic contact) that makes it work…then shipped it to me! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Just look at the cobwebs and dirt that I received for no extra charge! I guess that’s considered a bonus and I should be grateful. The self adhesive back was stuck directly to the instruction book, too. Totally useless.

Here’s the thing, though, I love all of the YoLink products I use. I have two of these contact sensors for gates, a motion sensor for the garage door and another for the mailbox. I have door sensors for a greenhouse and storage shed. Two temperature & humidity sensors, one for the greenhouse and one for a safe. Two speakers for alerts, and the hub. I even have a motion sensor and a vibration sensor for various applications. It’s a great product and I’m so pleased with it for the most part. I bought this to replace a sensor that got water inside and quit working, I’ll have to figure how to prevent that in the future. Anyway, it was just a shock to receive this like I did, and probably says more about their return and inspection process than it does the product itself.

If someone else gets this when I return it, just leave your initials on the inside of the box, alongside mine. Let’s see how many initials we can collect before they finally take it out of circulation!

Easily jammed by RFID/barcode scanner used by USPS

I had high hopes for this setup as my mailbox is 250ft away from my house. It was relatively easy to pair and install this transmitter. I tested it and it worked right away. But I never got actual mailbox alarm when USPS was depositing mail into my box. It works great though if UPS or FEDEX occasionally put a small package into my mail box. Initially I thought that mailman realized that even though I have plastic mail box his magnetic wand that he uses to open steel mailbox doors works great grabbing reed sensor behind plastic door and keeps it closed. So I serially wired 2 more reeds. To keep them closed you need magnet surface as wide as mailbox. But that didn't help. And then I looked up Yosmart frequency - 910.3MHz and it turned out to be almost the same as USPS 910.25MHz RFID/barcode scanner frequency. That scanner is always on as it takes time to boot/shutdown it. It interferes with/jams Yolink transmission and that's why only I or UPS and FEDEX can trigger mailbox alarm. Unfortunately Yolink protocol doesn't have transmission acknowledgement/resend on failure features so messages never re-transmitted. As a result I need to replace this easily jammable transmitter and associated hub with something that is more RFID interference proof. I will be looking for mailbox alarm that works on 433MHz frequency. As lower frequency offers longer distance at the same power and this frequency is far away from USPS truck radio equipment. People who use this sensor in alarm applications please be aware that it can be easily jammed with simple RFID scanner.

Used as a bridge for laser perimeter sensors

I have a YoLink Hub at home but I’ve got laser perimeter sensors (no YoLink a different brand) that did not have the capability to send a trigger notification to my phone without adding an optional bridge (YoLink Contact Sensor).

So I cut the wires of the Yolink contact sensors to add them to the laser control panel and it works perfect.

Now when the laser perimeter triggers I received a notification from the YoLink Hub on my phone alerting me that the laser beans were trespassed.

Now not only do I receive the trigger alert at home from the laser panel but I also anywhere I go on my phone.

Mine was not waterproof

Installed it a week ago. There were a few rain falls since that. It just went offline and I found water within the case that was supposed to be waterproof based on the listing title.

Very useful!

I use one wired in series through the two normally-closed alarm contacts of our two sump pump controllers. I cut the reed switch off to do this.

I use one to tell me the mail has been delivered. I had to lengthen the wires 7 inches so the reed switch that detects the magnet on the door at the front of the box could reach the sensor mounted on the back of the box.

Product works good, but has defects

This product on the gate worked 43days and the gate contact suddenly stopped working. I’m currently trying to contact YoLink customer service. They are on the west coast and I’m on the east coast, which is a big inconvenience. The gate contact and app notification worked perfectly until something happened.

Works GREAT outdoors on my Mailbox and Gates . . . LONG-RANGE

YoLink Outdoor Sensor is working GREAT for me. First, a few things:

- They are weatherproof

- I have a long-distance to my mailbox and gates

- Notice (in photo), this was the ONLY sensor that allowed that large gap from my gate-to-post and still get a good contact reading

I have NO PROBLEM with placing these sensors all-around my property with the LoRa Technology they advertise. They work FLAWLESSLY and they integrate well with ALEXA devices. I made some ALEXA Routines for these to announce (around my house) "You've Got Mail" and "Your Gate is Open".

They promise a long battery life as well (2-to-3 years).

Driveway alarm integration - Think outside the box!

I used this to integrate my Dakota Alert Driveway alarm into YoLink. I cut off the magnet and then wired it up to the NC relay in the Dakota box. Now, whenever someone crosses our driveway, not only does it chime in the house, it also sends me an alert, which is great when we aren't at home. Awesome product!

Mailbox Alert

Fantastic device to provide alerts for Mail Delivery, receive alerts within one second after mailman opens mailbox. Range is fantastic, my mailbox is over 600 from the house and over a hill, so not in line off sight does not effect range in this application. Some times packages are delivered as late as 9 pm, so getting a delivery alert is very convenient.!!!

Beat range ever

Amazed with YoLink products! I got this to install on the outside gate but decided to try it in my mailbox. Since it's weatherproof I'm sure it's going to last.

1 week update: the adhesive didn't last 24hrs but I'm not surprised since it's outdoors and was raining. I used epoxy to hold it in place. The signal and contact never fail which are the most important. Purchased 3 more for the surrounding gates
