Worth it for a budget powerhouse!

The switch is rock solid so far! Only one LAN in so far but I think this is the real deal!

Perfect 2.5G Switch to Unlock Full 2Gbps Frontier Speed! (Must-Read for Mac Users)

I upgraded to Frontier's 2Gbps plan, but my Wi-Fi speeds were only around 300–800 Mbps. Even when I hardwired my Mac mini M2 directly to the Frontier gateway/router in the closet, the speed maxed out at 800–900 Mbps. I soon realized that the built-in Ethernet port on the Mac mini is limited to 1Gbps.

To get the full speed I am paying for, I purchased this YuanLey 2.5G Switch along with a USB-C to 2.5Gbps Ethernet Adapter and Cat.7 cables. The results are phenomenal! Both my 2019 MacBook Pro and Mac mini M2 now consistently hit amazing speeds between 1900 and 2300 Mbps.

Installation & Troubleshooting Tips:

1. Setup: Connect the main Ethernet cable coming from your Frontier gateway into Port 1 of the switch. Then, connect your computers to Ports 2 through 5 using the 2.5G adapters.

2. Initial Connection issue: When you connect everything for the first time, it might not recognize the network right away. If this happens, simply reboot your computer, and it should connect perfectly.

3. Disconnection issues (Adapter Compatibility): If you experience intermittent disconnections, it is likely an issue with the USB Ethernet adapter. I actually had to return my first set of adapters due to this issue. After buying a different, high-quality 2.5G adapter, the connection became rock solid. If it keeps disconnecting, try swapping the adapter.

The switch is completely silent (fanless) and stays cool. Highly recommended for anyone looking to build a budget-friendly 2.5G home network!

Good value for money. SFP+ ports have compatibility issues with different modules.

Works fine. iperf3 says speed is close enough to 2.5Gbps. The only issue is that SFP+ ports are quite picky. I tried 3 different SFP+ to RJ-45 modules and only one of them (10Gtek 10GBase-T) worked with this switch.

Great value switch - and my cooling solution

I've taken this helpful info and done one further, creating a fan shroud for the 4010 blower that fits inside the switch above the SFP+ slots. The fan can be soldered directly to the 12V power jack inside.

If you have a 3D printer, go to Printables and search for "Yuanley YS25-0402 Fan Shroud". It needs to be printed with supports, and use PETG, ASA, or ABS, etc, just not PLA. The "ears" slip right under the mounting holes at the exhaust end of the fan and super glue holds it in place.

Works great, heat can be managed if one wants to do so.

The switch works great, have not had any issues.

The switch does run hot by itself, increasingly so if using the SFP ports.

Here is a simple mod for anyone able to use a soldering iron and doing so takes care of the heat buildup.

I used the "WEDRAIR 40mm 12V DC Brushless 4010 High Speed Turbo Blower Fan 2Pin with 39inch Cable for Replacement and Upgrade 3D Printer Accessories (Pack of 2Pcs)"

Glued the four corners of the fan to the case top with small dabs of "E6000 Clear Multipurpose Adhesive"

Note in my pictures the exact position (this is required for the fan to sit between the components of the switch).

Around the case (not blocking the fan output) I just put some painters tape over those holes and over the + shaped mounting holes on the outside of the bottom of the case. This keeps air flowing only from the opposite open side and across the switch interior.

I cut and soldered the positive tip of the fan wire to the center power pole and the negative wire to the side pole.

The fan fits perfectly inside the chassis and keeps any heat from building up inside.

Perfect for me.

Really good if you get a good unit

I bought the 4x2.5G, 2x10G SFP model in March, and as it's been working great, I feel like I should post a review.

I wanted a 10Gbit connection between my workstation and my home server without messing around with multiple IP addresses per host, so I got cheap 10Gbit SFP adapters for each and plugged them into this switch with passive DAC cables, then connected it to my LAN on one of the 2.5Gbit ports.

Testing the bandwidth between the two hosts with netcat, I get a good gigabyte per second in both directions at once, and the server's clearly CPU bound, so this switch is doing all I wanted in that respect. The 2.5Gbit link has also been solid. I have not tested switching between the 2.5Gbit ports as I don't have anything else plugged into it.

My unit does not seem to get particularly hot, see picture after the bandwidth test was going on for ten minutes. Ambient temperature in the closet was 80F at the time.

Great Quality, Affordable Price

I was a bit hesitant to buy at first because I was unfamiliar with the YuanLey brand, but wanted to replace a 2.5GB and 1GB switch (QNAP and Netgear) I had daisy chained to get a performance increase. Performance has been great, and the lighting per port makes it easy to see what speed each port is negotiating at. Very please for the $179.99 price ($20 coupon was applied).

Works as Advertised

Using this with a Qiniyek SFP+(1.25,2.5,5,10G) to RJ45 without issues so far. I have Xfinity 1200/200 and as you see in my photos I am not missing a beat. I am a satisfied customer for now!!
