a great price for an essential device

Several months ago I got a 5-port switch that I thought would be more than enough to accommodate all of my connected devices. I am not a network expert and my needs are specific, but basic. After not much time at all I realized I needed more than five ports and this switch does not disappoint. It is light, compact, and inconspicuous. Setup was a breeze, just plug and play. There are indicator lights for power as well as each port. This is a device that I highly recommend for anyone needing a basic but very reliable switch that is extremely user-friendly. An excellent value.

Budget Switch

*Edit*- 2 months later, this switch stopped reaching 1000 mbps speeds. It now only operates at 100 mpbs. The price is very cheap, so I guess I should have expected this. On the plus side its still a good deal for a 10/100, just don't trust the 1000 rating.

This is a great no frills, low budget 1000 mbps switch. For anyone who wants to upgrade from the old 100 mbps this is a great deal. The casing is plastic, the lights are on the same side as the ports, and it can only hang in one direction. So it doesn't have the nicest features, but it does its job and for an amazing price.

Works well

[When I am reviewing products, I like to take pictures as I am unboxing which is what you see in the pictures in my review].

I actually would give this 4.5 stars (more on what I don't like shortly). This is a nice little network switch with 8 ports and very good speed (for a home network). I haven't had any issues with this switch in the time that I have had it running in my home network. The case is made out of plastic (I have a few other switches that I use which have a metal case), but it seems sturdy enough. On the bottom (not pictured) there is a set of holes for where you can hang the switch up.

About the only thing I can complain about is that the power cord is like 2 feet long (which was nowhere near long enough for where I wanted to place this in relation to the power (I had another power cord that I was able to use instead).

Lightweight and low profile. Has little green lights to indicate a connection.

This is a very reasonably priced budget switch. The exterior is plastic, as most are, and it's lightweight. It has green lights on top that show you when you have a connection, which is helpful, because there's not a light to indicate that it's turned on. It requires no software and works exactly as expected. If you don't need one now, you may in the future so it's good to have one on hand. We have lightening where I live, and it has a habit of burning out switches.

Worlds most annoying 8 port swtich

Pros:

-Inexpensive 8 port gigabit switch

-The smooth white enclosure is attractive for desktop use

-Operates at gigabit speeds

Cons:

-Two foot power cord makes this product unnecessarily annoying

-No rubber feet included, doesn't stay put for desktop use

This was a tough call between 3 and 4 stars. Really it's a 3.5 star, but it doesn't deserve 4. Out of the box the first thing that caught my attention was the hilariously short power cable. At just under 24 inches, it's useless as a desktop switch unless you have power outlets at the desktop level. Some do, some don't, so take that into consideration if you're going to use this as a desktop switch.

There are no rubber feet on, or included with the switch. This product is incredibly light due to its all plastic construction, so it doesn't like to sit flat or stay put when you have 8 cables connected to it on a desktop. Again, this is pretty annoying. There are two screw mounting slots on the bottom of the switch, so it could be anchored into place if you had a mounting surface to provide that for you.

I tested this switch on the uplink port of one of my managed switches in my work lab to test how well this switch can handle rapid traffic. The switch did perform surprisingly well in that regard, even though this is a super budget switch, it still can handle high rates of gigabit traffic quite well.

If you can deal with a short power cord and lack of rubber feet, this is a good looking and good performing 8 port gigabit switch. If you need a power cord that's longer than two feet, or something that stays put on a desk (like me) then this isn't the ideal product for you.

Nice white little switch!

Its pretty simple and “low profile” but its long hence its an 8 port switch.

I haven’t heard of this brand so I went over to their product pages and they have other model switch too.. that appears metal and looking commercial grade and good reviews too.

Well this one is plastic white and it’s lightweight, which could be ok or depending on the gravity and amount of slack of the Ethernet connections you’ll be connecting to it. My other switch has the ports where the snap-lock is on top where the snaps on this one are at the bottom and so you’d have to turn the plug over and with this being lightweight, one end of the switch is raised because of one cord more used to the previous bend from my other switch. But there are mounting holes or anchors underneath (use your own hardware of course ).

Another this is the power adapter cord length appears short which I have measured 23” while my other switch appears longer.

It has green LEDs and they flash (medium speed type of blink) when there’s activity of internet traffic and a connection.

I do get gigabit speeds and used it for the remainder of my WFH wired session for the whole 5 hours. Solid stable connection.

For basic shared wired connectivity at a decent low piece, this can’t be beat!
