Must have

Great product, great price

They won't find you

The instructions are intense - and in a tiny print - but I know there aren't any trackers on my car. I haven't traveled to try it in hotel rooms, I'll have to circle back after that test.

Small and efficient

I love this product. It’s small so it’s easy to carry whether it’s in your pocket or in a small purse. Very easy to use and actually works. Their customer service is awesome also.

Satisfied customer

The product came exactly as described. This detector ranked high in customer satisfaction. The price was very reasonable. The company was quite helpful with any question I submitted. The RF reader was very easy to use. I did not come across any cameras, or metallic objects. I hope I was using the reader properly. I am pretty sure that someone is watching me. I did a physical search of all of the areas I was suspicious of. I found nothing.

Works!!! 100% Legitimate

Have used so called “detectors” before, but they were junk compared to this product! Multiple detector functions all in one, with high performance sensitivity selections. Was able to locate multiple devices on my car, in 2 hotels and 1 in a VRBO type rental property. This has saved me the worry of not being secure in sensitive meetings! Thank you

This is a cool tiny detector. So far I have tested with magnets and wifi routers, and it picks up these devices easily. Very sensitive. Surely taking this with me when I travel.

Works Great

This tracker works so well. First of all, it worked straight out of the box. It came charged. The sensitivity was on point as we tested it with our router as the directions suggested and it worked great. It is an amazing security device which I purchased as a female to make sure my car isn’t being tracked in these times we are living in. It is so easy to use. The design is nice. The value is great for the product. I am very well pleased and feel a little safer.

Annoying beep

I'm not sure about it's effectiveness, it does detect the magnet and other components in my phone.

But I have one main issue, when you turn it on it emits a tone/long beep. It has vibration mode, and the manual says that mode is great for discreet/sensitive situations. But that's pointless if when you turn it on it beeps like that. After researching, I can't find a way to turn it off.

The flashlight is also useful, if I didn't have to hear that beep everytime I turned it on.

Multi functional and small

It’s small so very discreet when you feel uneasy, gives you peace of mind. Love it

Safety is paramount

This device is great! Portable and powerful. I like that I can start with the signal strength on high, and gradually turn it down to hone in on the source. I feel much safer with this device, in new places and even my own office.

Surprisingly powerful for its size!

I was a bit skeptical at first, but this P18 8th Gen Hidden Devices Detector really works! It’s compact and easy to carry around, but don’t let the size fool you. This thing is powerful. I tested it at home with a known camera and it started beeping loudly, clearly detecting it.

Just a heads-up: you do have to be fairly close to the hidden camera for it to beep loudly and pick it up effectively, so make sure to scan nearby surfaces closely.

The scanner works great, and the alarm is loud enough to catch your attention. You can change it to vibration mode. It’s simple to use and small enough to keep in your purse or pocket.

I’m planning to try it at work next, and I’ll update here once I do. So far, I’m impressed with this device.

Questionable gadget for the paranoid with some poor design choices

This is a multipurpose detector for "hidden" devices such as cameras and RF, but detection and use is actually not trivial. It can give you hints where to look, but closer inspection is always needed, as outlined in the manual.

For example the RF signal scanner only goes off within a foot of my access point. Near my WIFI cameras it only goes off when the camera is actually communicating (e.g. after motion detection), but most of the time, no signal is detected, even right next to it. It seems to sense cellular 5G, WIFI, and Bluetooth (tested with only exactly one medium enabled on my phone), but I need to hold this detector within 1/4" of just the right corner of my phone for it to sense anything at all, and only while communicating. There is really no way to really tell the type and strength of an RF signal, it is either detected or not detected. In my testing, the six bards that are supposed to indicate signal only toggle between full on or off. The "sensitivity adjustment" goes from 1 to 5 bars, but the manual does not explain if 1 or 5 bars is the most or least sensitive. There is also no listing of the actual RF frequencies that are detected. (e.g. LoRa, 600, 800Mhz, 2.4, 5, 6GHz, mm band, etc.)

The camera detector relies on the reflection of the red LEDs bouncing back from the camera lens and the red viewfinder filters out any other reflections that are not red. The reflected dots are tiny and require good eyesight. Any other curved reflective surface will also show up, so careful further inspection is needed.

The magnet scanner is probably just an embedded reed switch and only goes off if a strong magnet is held right next to the sensor. I guess it is designed to find GPS trackers that are magnetically attached, but to sense the magnet we need to be really close and probably already found the tracker. The manual does not say where the detector actually is, but I guess it is next to the flashlight LED.

The built-in flashlight can be useful in the dark.

There are several serious design flaws:

- If we turn it on, all lights and beeps go off at once, then off. While this might be a startup test, it also means that everybody nearby is alerted.

- The red filter that folds out is not securely "parked" and flips out by just tilting the device upside down (see video). It does not click in place and is flopping around even if we use any of the other modes. This really should snap in place securely during storage.

- If we do camera detection and hold it up to the face to look through the red viewfinder, we can use the middle button to change the flashing rate. If we accidentally press the mode button instead, it switches to the flashlight mode and we have that bright LED blinding us directly into the eye! Painful, especially in a dark room. Poor placement of the flashlight!

In summary, RF signals are all around us and to pinpoint a transmitter, we need to be close and this works within limits, even though we cannot obtain any information on the type of the RF signal. Camera detection works OK, but there will be false positives and detection also requires good eyesight. As described in the manual, all detectors can give a starting point for an investigation, but false positives and false negatives are likely.
