useful tool for inspections

I’ve found this thermal camera pretty handy for checking temperature differences around windows, walls, and electrical equipment. The touchscreen is easy to figure out, and being able to combine the thermal and regular images makes it much easier to spot areas that might need attention. It feels well built, and I like that it comes with a protective case and lets you save images to look at later. There’s a bit of a learning curve with some of the more advanced settings, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a really useful tool for inspections.

Amazing

The Honest Review Guy

Superior to others in my opinion

I have another thermal camera that’s more of the traditional handheld style, but I actually prefer using this one. The screen is about the size of a small phone and it’s touchscreen, so I found myself just tapping and swiping around without really needing to figure much out.

I also like that there’s an actual camera built into it along with the thermal camera. You can look at the regular image, thermal image or combine the two, which makes it a lot easier for me to tell exactly what I’m looking at when I’m scanning around a wall or ceiling. There’s even a flashlight built into the back, which is one of those little things that makes a lot of sense when you’re trying to look behind something or into a darker area.

We’ve been using thermal cameras around the house because we have a room that gets significantly hotter than the others, and this has been really useful for tracing where the temperature changes are instead of just guessing. It even has different settings for things like insulation and moisture, so I can choose what I’m actually looking for instead of messing around with a bunch of settings I don’t understand.

You can take pictures and video right on it, and there’s enough internal storage that I doubt I’ll ever come close to filling it. It also connects through Wi-Fi to an app if you want to pull things up on your phone. Mine came with a carrying case too, and between that, the touchscreen and the overall construction, this just feels like a much nicer piece of equipment.

Pocket thermal imager

This is the second portable thermal camera. I’ve tested recently and my first impressions are pretty positive, I really love the large 3 1/2 inch screen and it has plenty of brightness to easily be able to see what’s on it. I like the overlays that clearly show you the temperature gauge and the different colors for determining what the actual temperature is of the items you are looking at. There’s an exact digital number shown on screen as well as the range so that you can visually look around and get an idea of the temperature level of various objects in the frame. It’s definitely versatile as it’s very compact and handheld and doesn’t require any external batteries or cables, etc. As far as I can tell, it seems very accurate, using a handheld laser thermometer. It was reading within a 10th of a degree for pinpoint items so it seems very accurate to me. The image quality isn’t amazing but from what I understand it cost thousands of dollars to get a higher resolution thermal camera so you kind of get what you pay for with this regard. It’s incredibly lightweight and it’s definitely not cheap but I think it’s a decent price for what you get considering the large screen size and overall portability of the unit. There is a very small learning curve. It only took a couple minutes, reviewing the included directions pamphlet, and then poking around on the unit itself to be able to get temp readings.

Easy to Carry, Easy to Use

I picked up this compact thermal imager from its carrying case as soon as it arrived, noting how pocket friendly and lightweight it felt, much like carrying an extra phone. The solid build gave me confidence for field work, with its protective construction, built in storage, tripod mount, and even a handy LED light that proved useful in dim spots. Yet pulling it out of that fitted pocket in the case took a bit more effort than I expected each time.

Once in hand, I powered it on and immediately appreciated the intuitive touchscreen interface. The phone like controls and responsive 3.5 inch screen made navigation quick and natural as I switched between modes without hassle. The 25Hz refresh rate delivered smooth live imaging while I scanned rooms or followed moving targets, a noticeable improvement over what I have seen in other units.

I tested the fusion blended mode next, overlaying thermal data with visible details at adjustable levels like 25, 50, or 75 percent, along with edge detection. This made it far easier to pinpoint exact locations of issues during my home inspection. The real time temperature tracking showed max, min, and center readings simultaneously, and I set customizable alarms for abnormal hot or cold spots, which helped track problems efficiently. The AI assisted presets optimized automatically for tasks like electrical checks, moisture detection, or insulation work, cutting down on manual tweaks.

Image quality proved clear enough for the price, with its 240 by 240 resolution handling residential and professional diagnostics well for HVAC, electrical, and similar needs. I captured some images and videos, then used the Wi Fi app connectivity to transfer them wirelessly for further analysis on my phone, adding real versatility at this competitive price point.

Still, I ran into a few practical drawbacks during use. The shutter button sat right where my right hand naturally gripped, causing me to snap accidental photos more than once. Temperature readings stayed fixed in a corner of the screen instead of appearing directly at the measurement point, so I had to shift my gaze each time. The screen size worked adequately but felt somewhat small for detailed on device reviews. Without optical zoom, I had to physically move closer for tighter inspections. Some icons and advanced features required consulting the manual or a bit of patience at first, especially when setting up the app. I also noticed the resolution seemed likely upscaled rather than native, delivering good but not exceptional sharpness. Overall it served well for diagnostics and guidance yet lacked lab grade precision for highly exact scientific work, but practically priced for an introductory unit for a new user to similar devices.

Good price

I bought the AccuMEMS Pocket Thermal Imager TT17D to check for insulation gaps and possible water leaks in my house. Right out of the box it impressed me. The unit comes in a solid zip case that actually protects it, and the device itself feels rugged, not like a cheap gadget.

Setup took under a minute. Point, scan, and you instantly see hot and cold spots in clear color. I tested it in my living room and it showed a warm ceiling spot around a light fixture and cooler areas near the windows. Temp readings like Max ∼89.7°F and Min ∼71.1°F matched what I expected. The 1.6ft focus is perfect for indoor work.

Nice compact Thermo camera with a large screen.

This AccuMEMS TT17D Wi-Fi Thermal Camera with 3.5" Touchscreen, AI Scene Detection, 240x240 UIRA-IR with Visual Camera, 25Hz Thermal Imaging Camera, -4°F~1022°F Range, WirelessTransfer Analysis via App is it really handy and easy to use thermal camera.

This thermal camera is a nice compact camera that is easy to carry and even comes in a really nice little storage case. I like that this is formatted like a regular digital camera so that it has a large screen on the back that is easy to view. You can also slip it into a pocket and take it anywhere you need.

When it comes to function this works really well. It's not a super high resolution high speed camera, but it is more than enough for average residential use. This works great when trying to find water leaks or areas of missing insulation or air leaks or anywhere else that you might see a temperature difference. You can probably even use this for checking to make sure that your circuit breakers are not overheating and that you don't have any wiring issues either. I think the uses are pretty much endless once you have it.

Overall and very happy with this and I would definitely order it again!

Nicely Compact and Works Well

This item arrives neatly enclosed in a product box that includes the device itself, a durable, sturdy case, a charging cable, and a user manual. I have several larger devices made by this same brand, and I have found their products to work very well in the past, so I was excited to test out this smaller option.

First, when secured within the case, it probably won’t fit in your pocket, but it’s still far more convenient to carry than larger devices. When carried independently, this is about the same size as most small cameras, and it will fit well in a pocket or bag. Since it has a touchscreen, you don’t need to worry about accidentally pressing any buttons if you stuff it in your pocket.

Although the item is fairly small, it still seems to do the same thing as larger devices and to perform as well at different functions. The images provided are clear and easy to understand, while the different settings are also largely intuitive, although the user manual can be helpful to understand some of the more obscure features. Overall, I have had a great time (if you count finding unpleasant things a great time) wandering around my house with this item, and I look forward to continuing to use it in the future.

Compact and useful, limited range

This thermal camera has a nice large touch screen, several color pallets, and a convenient form factor that is similar to a smart phone. The compact size makes it a convenient tool. The thermal performance is very good for its price point, with clear images out to about 25 yards. I was not able to make out deer at 100 yards. But across the room or the yard, this is highly effective.

The unit feels sturdy and well-built. The touchscreen makes it very easy to use. It comes with a nice travel case and a charging cord.

I especially like that it has three temperature readings at all times: temperature at center, highest temperature, and lowest temperature. This is very useful for taking a child’s temperature when they are sick, or for finding potential heating/cooling inefficiencies.

Overall, this is a good value for the money with great performance.

Excellent thermal camera with a sharp image and genuinely useful fusion mode

I bought this for electrical, HVAC, automotive, and building inspections, and it is an impressive thermal camera for the price. It states native 240 × 240 thermal resolution but I'm not sure about that. It might be 128x128, either way, it provides enough detail to identify electrical hot spots, insulation gaps, thermal bridging, HVAC temperature differences, and other problems that lower-resolution cameras can make difficult to interpret. The 25 Hz refresh rate also produces smooth movement, so scanning a room or piece of equipment feels natural rather than delayed and choppy.... (like every "Flr" unit.

The fusion mode is one of its best features. Combining the thermal image with visible-camera details makes edges, components, pipes, outlets, and structural features much easier to recognize. This is extremely helpful when documenting a problem or returning to the exact location later. The various palettes, adjustable temperature range, and hot/cold spot tracking provide plenty of flexibility for different inspections.

The 3.5-inch touchscreen is bright, responsive, and large enough to review images directly on the device. The interface is well organized, and changing palettes, image modes, brightness, and measurement settings is quick. Wi-Fi transfer and app analysis are also convenient for saving, reviewing, and sharing inspection results without constantly connecting cables.

The camera feels rugged and purpose-built, with a compact body that is easy to carry into confined areas. The built-in storage, LED light, tripod mount, and environmental protection make it practical for real field use. Overall, this is a highly capable thermal imager with excellent clarity, fast performance, and a feature set normally associated with substantially more expensive equipment.

Pros:

Upscaled to 240 × 240 thermal resolution not quite as sharp as my other handheld but is not bad

Smooth 25 Hz live imaging is better than "Flr" cameras

Useful thermal and visible-image fusion

Responsive 3.5-inch touchscreen

Multiple palettes and measurement modes

Hot, cold, and center-point tracking

Wi-Fi transfer and app support

Rugged, compact construction

Excellent value for inspection and diagnostic work

Conclusion:

I believe its 128x128 resolution upscaled to 240x240ish, not a true 240x240 resolution. not 100% sure though.

The detail and sharpness of the image is good but not great, a better sensor would cost more though. The sensor in my other unit that starts with a "W" has a sharper image, but a smaller screen. They are priced the same.

its 25 FPS which is actually pretty good, I have a 3rd thermal that's made by the big company starting with an "F" and all Flr units have terrible frame rate because US manufacturers are limited by law on how high of frame rate they can make units, while Chinese units have no limits imposed by law, so they are not as choppy when looking around.

Another plus of this unit is that it has 2 hybrid modes which are SUPER helpful, you can either add edge detection, which helps you while looking around, or you can use hybrid mode where you let in either 25%, 50%, or 75% of a live view lens and then it combines the two together, which is super helpful in looking around. Not all thermals have these 2 features and this feature was an extra $100 to add to my "Flr" unit, making it the pro version, I honestly would not buy a thermal without this feature, it makes a huge difference.

It has lots of color pallets also, white hot, black hot, and around 5 different rainbow options too. They are helpful sometimes, depending on what you are looking at.

I've included some comparison images and a video showing this unit and my other handheld, you can see more detail in the "W" unit, but the screen on this TT17D is much larger and the whole unit slips right into your back pocket, which really makes this unit more portable and nicer to use the larger screen.

Easier to carry than other Accumem thermal imagers

I have a couple of the original gun type thermal imagers. They work well, but you cannot just put them in your pocket due to their shape and size. Their image size is 1.5 inch square.

The newer pocket thermal imager is much more portable. It's weight is the same as my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra without a case. The size is shorter but thicker than my phone. The image size is 2 inch square. The thermal imager comes with a semi hard case and good quality USB-C cord, but you need your own charge block.

Most of the functions are the same as the gun type. The higher cost compared to the gun type imagers is due to technology improvements. This is a touch screen device. The image is slightly bigger. It can be connected to your phone with the AccuHeat app. My favorite improvement is the Blended mode. It is different than the simpler Fusion mode on some models than use a separate camera to integrate real world details. This pocket imager also has that same simpler Fusion mode as well. On the pocket imager, the Blended mode allows you to select the level of fusion at 25, 50, or 75%. On the app, the Blended mode let's you choose any percent of fusion. This actually creates some neat special effects at lower percents.

Overall, I think the pocket imager is great because you can actually carry it in your pocket. It does what a thermal imager should do. I could not find a zoom function on this model, so I just have to physically get closer for my zooming in.
