My son really enjoyed putting this spider robot together, and it was a fun project for us to work on together. The building process was challenging enough to keep him interested, and he loved controlling it with the app once it was finished. It’s a nice hands-on STEM kit for anyone who enjoys robotics and building.

This ACEBOTT STEM robotics kit is a really fun project for anyone interested in robotics, electronics, or learning how different components work together. The spider robot design makes it much more interesting than a typical building kit because you actually get to create a moving robot that can crawl and be controlled afterward.
I really like that this is more than just assembling a toy. Building the robot provides a hands-on way to learn about electronics, motors, programming concepts, and robotics. The ESP8266 component also makes the project feel more advanced and interesting for older kids, teens, and adults who want something they can actually experiment with.
The app remote-control feature is one of my favorite parts. Once the robot is assembled, being able to control its movement adds another level of fun and makes all the time spent building it feel worthwhile. It is enjoyable to experiment with the controls and see the finished robot actually walking and crawling around.
The kit also makes a great activity for spending time away from screens while still involving technology. It would be a fun weekend project for a parent and child, a STEM activity for a teenager, or even a hobby project for an adult who enjoys electronics and DIY builds. There is a good balance between learning and simply having fun with the finished robot.
Overall, I think this is a creative and engaging STEM kit. The spider robot design is unique, the building process is educational, and the remote-control functionality makes the finished project much more entertaining. It would make a great gift for someone interested in robotics, coding, electronics, or hands-on STEM projects.

I bought this kit for a fun coding project for my son, and it exceeded my expectations.
Assembly: The instructions are easy to follow, and the parts line up well.
Performance: Once assembled, the spider moves smoothly using the app remote control, featuring several fun preset actions and movement angles.
Learning Value: It’s a fantastic way to learn about microcontrollers, servos, and basic robotics principles.

Pretty neat. Great kit for just learning,as my daughter is. Pretty cool remote control.

I'm a retired electronics technician, and I love building these STEM oriented toys. In this case however, I ran into a problem. The driver they want you to install is outdated and needs to be updated. It won't work with modern Windows operating systems. After digging around on their website, I was able to download and install that. However, I suspect that many who are not quite as computer literate may have a problem doing that. Too bad, because this is a very interesting kit and was enjoyable to put together.

Not a beginner's kit. If you think you can just buy this for someone to start off on their Arduino development...this is definitely not the kit for it.
1. The kit does NOT include the 18650 Li-Ion battery that's required for the servo extension board! You must purchase it separately. This is a huge omission in the product description.
2. The robot is not pre-flashed with any software. Minimally, you must flash it with an Arduino program to let the robot be controlled by the app via wifi. So follow the instructions start-to-finish very carefully.
3. Kit does not come with any documentation. You must download it. You must have a PC or a Mac to run the Arduino IDE to program the robot.
If you are getting into Arduino development, it's great to get a wifi controller + servo controller + 8 servos. It's a pain to download the tutorial but the tutorial itself is well done with good step by step instructions for both Mac and PC. The robot assembly instruction is not the best though. It's terse and just glosses over some steps. It doesn't even mention that you need to screw in the legs to the servo motors...which is another terrible omission. It also doesn't tell you which pin is ground when you are connecting the servo. It's in the tutorial but part of the board description and not part of the assembly. Hint: the darkest brown wire connects to the outer most pin (furthest from the center of the robot). You also need to reset the servo positions correctly for the robot to work. I guess you can remove the legs and manually adjust them too. The final product video I uploaded is before I had any time to fine tune the servo positions and adjust the walk. Overall, it's a good kit but product description is terrible for it. The tutorial can be improved. I will definitely adjust the rating if things are updated.
