Small but Mighty

Bought these to replace a 8+ year old pair of Swan M200 MKIIs that had developed a nasty hum. All my listening is nearfield, so obviously the hum got annoying. These are at least a 1/3rd the size and sound GREAT. Not missing a thing so far and hear they only get better with time. I'm absolutely amazed at the sound considering the size. If you're on the fence, go ahead and buy them.

Great bass response, compact and high quality build

Wow…wow! I’m not easily impressed with many things, but the minute I played my music through these amazing speakers I was speechless. The pack so much punch for their size, great bass, miss and highs are clear. I practice djing at home and a quantum leap from any other speakers I have. Adam Audio, you now have a life long customer, no going back from these

Absolutely Avoid- Overpiced - Poor Quality Control - Pathetic Audio

Small defect visible. Looks like the metal was gouged when it was put together at the factory. I've had these less than a day.

I did not pay hundreds of dollars for a product that should not have passed QC.

Why even talk about the sound quality, or how loud they get, or bass response when the manufacturer is not keeping track of QC and it is plainly visible.

If this is any indicator of ADAM Audio's typical quality I think I will stay away from them in the future. I have no faith in the company's 2-5 year warranty if this is the quality of their product.

Honestly I am so sick and tired of the wait period for online returns but I can't stand the idea of getting sold an obviously substandard product especially when its hundreds of dollars and then just putting up with it.

*Update* I'm so disappointed with the absolute poor quality of these that I took the time to write up a review, in the hopes that would-be buyers avoid having the same experience I did.

I bought the ADAM Audio D3V expecting a professional-grade desktop monitoring experience, but these are a massive disappointment. I wouldn't recommend these at half their current price.

Sound Quality: "Digital" and Thin

Lacking Bass: The low end is virtually non-existent until turned up far higher than desirable, leaving the overall profile feeling thin and hollow. More concerning is the "digital" character of the sound. These don't feel like honest monitors; they feel like heavily processed computer speakers.

Forced DSP: The fact that firmware updates are required to change tweeter behavior and EQ curves based on volume tells me these speakers rely too much on software "tricks" rather than quality hardware. Who in their right mind would sell desktop monitors that change their EQ response based on volume? A better question, who would buy them?

The Edifier Test: My 5-year-old Edifier bookshelf speakers which cost significantly less deliver a much more natural, full-bodied, and higher-quality sound than these. Sure they color the sound, but are much more usable than this overpriced junk.

Narrow Audio Field: Even for what these claim to be, the audio produced from each speaker is so narrow that moving your head an INCH, whether up, down, left, or right results in drastically different sound. Perhaps they would be better off marketing these as a posture aid. Any movement at all results in even lower sound quality.

Performance & Usability: Unacceptable Boot Times

These are speakers, not a gaming console. The "boot-up" time for these monitors is ridiculous. I’ve never had to wait for my audio to "load" before, and I don't intend to start now. I fully understand the auto-standby may be disabled. I understand it is to conform to EU laws. Thing is, I am an American and live in the USA. So having another country's laws and regulations result in my poor experience in part does not sit right with me at all. One European size does NOT fit all.

Build Quality: Precarious Stands

For "premium" monitors, the included stands are embarrassingly low quality. They are a simple press-fit design that feels cheap and unstable.

Safety Concern: I live in Southern California where we have yearly earthquakes; I have zero confidence that these speakers would stay seated in their stands during even a mild tremor. They feel like they could pop out at any moment.

Final Verdict

ADAM Audio missed the mark by a mile (not Km) here. Between the poor bass response, the over-processed digital sound, the laggy startup, and the flimsy stands, and poor quality control, these are a terrible value proposition. Save your money and look elsewhere. Ironically, these seem to be meant to introduce a user to the Adam Audio product lineup. Due to my experience with these, I will never buy a product from Adam Audio again.

The Adam Audio D3V are amazing!

These are spectacular little desk top speakers. They sound like very much bigger speakers and have a wonderfully clean, crisp treble, a rich midrange response, and bass that reaches down to about 45 Hz. Truly amazing! They reviews of these speakers are overwhelmingly positive, so I am definitely not the only person who love the Adam Audio D3Vs. I have replaced the original equipment stands with Kanto SE2 stands. The original stands are very good, but raising the speakers up to ear level is even better.

Amazing Audio Monitoring

A lot bigger than expected as they look smaller in the photo. For the size of these mini audio monitors they really pack a punch. Surprised at how loud they can get and how much bass the subs pack. It’s almost comparable to a 5” driver audio monitor however I do have them at a close proximity for my set up. The price may seem steep for some small speakers but I promise it’s worth the money.

Great product for setting up a small studio

It’s a great product for setting up a small studio quickly and easily. Of course, three-inch professional studio monitors have their performance limits, but within the world of small three-inch monitors, these perform very well. The room/desk compensation and acoustic treatment options on the back are very useful, and the fact that you don’t need an audio interface to connect them—just USB straight to the computer—is a big plus. For their size, they actually deliver more low end than I expected. Overall, I definitely recommend them.

BRAVO ADAM AUDIO!

Truly it’s like magic. Such a huge sound in such a small package. If you’re in the fence about buying these. Don’t be, they are well worth the price.

Great speakers

I use my ADAM Audio D3V as a desktop speakers via USB-C Connection.

They sound great.

Two things that I do not like in them are:

1) turning off after 20 minutes of inactivity;

2) if they were turned off by inactivity timer and than I turned off the electric extension cord, then after the voltage supply is restored, speakers automatically turn on. It's bad because they make really loud annoying sounds while my PC is booting up. So, every time I turn off the extension cord, I also have to remove the plug of my Adam System from the socket, in order not to forget to turn them off before turning off my PC.
