It really works!

I have lived next to barking dogs for a while now. I have had to run multiple fans, wear earplugs and put packing blankets over the window. Now with this sound machine I can adjust the white noise to the right frequency to match the barks and when I wear my earplugs and turn it up loud I can actually block the sound. This thing can get loud! There are also so many fan sounds that I may have to try too. I am normally a cheapskate but am glad I splurged on this machine. I will definitely bring it along when traveling too.

R

Random person.

Most dependable electronic I’ve ever purchased.

I rarely write reviews, but this product has been one of the most reliable things in my life. I bought this Nov 2017 and it’s April 2026. I have never turned this off in the 9.5 years I’ve owned it, and it’s still working. I leave it bedside at a low volume and just always leave it running. I can’t believe this thing still works.

Things in my life that this has been through:

- 2 long term relationships

- me gaining 50lbs of weight and losing it, then gaining it back again

- 8 vacations

- 3 roommates

- 2 new bosses

When it finally dies I will give it a military funeral.

Perfect sleep - minor differences between black/white models

I live in a ground-floor, street-facing apartment next to a busy road in Manhattan. Cars pass all the time, honking or playing loud music. Guy sorts trash loudly outside, just 10 feet from my bed, sometimes at 5-6 AM, which contributed to my dysfunctional sleep deprivation when I had a full-time job. Neighbor sings loudly in hall. People yell outside, angry or just because. You get the drill. That's partly a pun; sometimes there are drills just outside (roadwork).

One of these Lectrofans, plus earplugs (I wear comfortable 3M ones) resolved all of the above disturbances except one: my bedroom is right next to the building front door which can slam loudly when people go in or out; my sleep was sometimes still disturbed from that.

So what did I do? I got another Lectrofan to place in a different location, next to my apartment front door, which effectively masked that specific noise. Now, I have two Lectrofans: one white and one black. I also got two of the official travel case for my trips. Bye bye disturbing noise, hello white noise.

I like the aesthetic design of this more than the "Evo" version (which I haven't got), and it seems from reviews that many users prefer the sound of the original too.

I noticed some minor sound differences between the black and white models, none of which are real issues but I haven't seen anyone mention these so thought it would be worth detailing for anyone curious. Perhaps it's not really color-related but instead slightly different builds, as I got the models at different times (I got both in 2025: black in April and white in Aug). Whatever the case, here's what I found: (1) The black model is slightly quieter than the white model (turned both up to max volume and used a decibel meter app to compare - white hovers around 80 dB, black around 75 dB). (2) When power is supplied to either model, the white model turns on automatically whereas the black model doesn't (latter is ideal). (3) Black model comes on with a fade in, and turns off with a fade out, whereas white model only fades out. (4) Black model, even when off, makes an audio cut-off sound when power is cut; white model doesn't. (5) Some of the sounds may sound different (didn't analyze this further as I virtually always keep it on the default sound); feel free to watch the video I uploaded to judge. There might be other differences. Both devices say "ASM1007" on the bottom.

Besides the inconsistencies above which I can overlook, if I had two things to nitpick: would've been absolutely perfect with a remote, and a display to show which settings it's currently on. But it's practically perfect so I rated it 5/5.

Lasts longer than most marriages!

I bought this exact white noise machine 8 years ago and it finally gave out yesterday. Picture shows the old machine on the right and the new one I just bought on the left. I take this thing with me on every business trip, international holiday, you name it. So glad I could repurchase the exact same product and know it'll last me many more years.

Good sound quality

Super loud and has lots of noise choices as well. I think that it’s a little over priced but I still think it’s worth it, especially if you can get it on a deal.

Sound machine

I mainly got this to help my dogs sleep through the night. They hear every small thing and will wake up bark and then wake everyone else up in the process. I’ve only used it for a few nights and we are sleeping through the night!!! I do wish it had more nature sounds like waves or wind maybe? But it’s just noise but it does the job!

Quality Product

This is a powerful white noise machine for its size. It effectively blocks unwanted noise. I was able to choose white for the product color. Also I like that there is a 60 minute sleep timer function.

Not Sleep Deprived!!!

✨ Adaptive Sound Technologies ✨

I slept like a baby...

I love the fan sounds on here.

Not too much of the white noise to fall asleep .. But I can use that for when I'm on an important phone call or want more privacy.

Both the fan and white noise sounds are great. And when you plug it in... It starts up. You have the option to turn it off.

Worth every dime!!

Best Sleep I have gotten since my neighbor's OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR is malfunctioning and it's a HIPPA law I can't do anything about. I even called my landlord and nothing will be done for now. This is my best option.

Sleep magic!!

My husband works nights so daytime sleep is a must for him. This is perfect as it has 10 sound variations to choose from. It really helps mask noise and allow him to sleep. You also have option of fan sounds. It has a timer which can be set to shut off and it can be plugged into wall outlet or USB port. Plus it is small if you want to travel. Highly recommend!

Best sleep white noise

I love this white noise machine so much, I have three. The volume and sounds are easy to choose. The design is sleek and the size is ideal for at home and travel. This is a must have if you can’t sleep.

9 years later and going strong!!

We were gifted this item 9 years ago and have used it every single night since then and it’s still going strong! That’s 3,285 nights of all night use! The sound quality is amazing compared to other sound machines that are very fake sounding. There are so many options of fan sounds/white noise that you’re guaranteed to find one you like. In the video you can hear the different fan noises. The only things that might be a negative are 1) size, it’s not huge but it’s not a tiny travel size either. 2) no battery option for travel/camping.

However, any product that works like new after 9 years is a yes from me!!

Pros:

•durability/quality

•sound quality

Cons:

•size (but it’s not too big)

•no battery option

love it, has fatal flaw if you travel

This is the best “no fuss” sound machine on the market. We have bought 5. Both colors. We can click the left upper button and go straight to bed without having to scroll around or do anything extra at night.

This is perfect for anyone who just leaves it on a shelf or table and doesn’t travel.

However, my husband travels a lot for his job and so twice a week he has to unplug the cord and place it into its travel case. (It doesn’t fit in the travel case still connected.) Because of the design and no better way, there is stress on the cord during each unplug from the base unit. And eventually what is pictured happens.

Great for normal sleep but don’t expect it to block out construction.

We use sound machines for the kiddos and this one works great. We have also lived in places where construction is going on right next door.

If you would like this to completely block out something like loud construction noise, then this will not do that. It helps subdue the noise, but not completely block it out (see video for reference).

Otherwise, it’s easy to use, just plug in and can be used for both adults or kids. Compact in size so it’s pretty easy to just take on travels. Definitely worth the money considering this is now the second one we’ve gotten for an additional room. Cord is a decent length but could be longer to reach different parts of the room depending on plugs and set up.

I sort of owe my sanity to this thing

I work from home more days than not, in a creative field, and for the past ... too many years ... have had the misfortune of living in apartments plagued by noisy neighbors, street works, traffic noise, etc. The walls have shifted but noise pollution has remained a constant menace of urban living. I've lost count of the number of Lectrofans I own but would conservatively estimate the number to be at least 6. There may have been more cost-effective solutions. But the price was more than worthy my sanity.

For anybody else dealing with sound sensitivity, I can honestly say this is one of the best and most impactful purchases I have ever made. Between sleeping and working it is very possible that I'm listening to its output more hours than not. The heartiest recommendation that I can offer!

I can switch between my favorite sounds

I like to have the white noise and the fan sounds. It remembers your last setting....has a timer but can stay on too.

Great for anxious dogs on the 4th if July

I bought this fantastic sound machine to try to help calm my dogs due to their fear of fireworks. This is the first year my dog Wilson hasn't been pacing around, drooling, shaking and terrified on the 4th of July. Both dogs are actually laying down sleeping and I'm so happy about it. We live right next to the neighborhood park where the huge fireworks display is. I put them in a bedroom furthest from the park, turned YouTube on a dog tv video and turned the sound machine up full blast - worked like a charm! I can't believe how calm they are! I was skeptical but it was a great investment - especially if you love your furbabies.

Best sound machine ever!

I love this sound machine. I’ve had the worst insomnia for years. I don’t fall asleep until it’s morning, usually around 5 AM. The past three nights I’ve had this, I’ve fallen asleep so quickly, within minutes of my head hitting the pillow. It’s been a miracle. I never thought I’d rid myself of insomnia. I’ve tried so many medications and therapy to help. Nothing has worked until this machine. I just purchased the company’s Sound+Sleep machine. I’m hoping that one is good, too. It has many more sounds. I plan to keep this one, too, because it’s so calming and it’s good to have a backup. I’ve grown quite attached to it very quickly. It’s a good size and I can take it with me if I travel anywhere, which is even a bonus. I’m so thrilled I found this and feel grateful to the company for making such a good product. It’s amazing to be able to get good quality sleep again.

City life in an apartment and sleeping like a baby

I live in the city and it has a lot of noise from cars driving by, cars idling showing off their cheap stereo system, helicopters, and even neighbors with their TV volume up so loud I'm basically watching the show with them. A bunch of careless and inconsiderate people but thats the city, right?

I have been having a hard time sleeping due to these incidences and would usually resort to turning on a fan at high speed to drown out the sound. Not only does this make the room colder but also drains a lot of electricity. I knew I needed an alternative and remembered seeing a white noise device at a hotel I stayed at last year.

They were legit. A USB powered white noise machine that is efficient at power consumption. It can be plugged in with the included power brick or to any USB power supplied connection. Very travel friendly.

The first night I turned this on I slept immediately. It drowned out all the peripheral sounds and I didn't notice them at all.

I have had the product for some time and but only use the default white noise. It is sufficient for me. But there are many different sounds to choose from. There are 10 unique fan sounds. The white noise however all sound the same but at different pitches. While going through the different sounds there will be a distinct sound to notify you that you are looping back to the first sound again. The volume can also be adjusted very loud if you need to.

What I did notice however is that it will power on whenever power is initially supplied to it. I noticed this when I went on a two week trip. I was notified by the power company that there was a power outage while I was away from home. When I came home two weeks later it was running. This means that once power was restored, it turned on. Not a big deal but just be mindful to unplug it when not in use or if going on an extended trip.

Pros:

Case feels solid

10 fan and 10 white noise sounds

Volume has a wide range

60 minute timer

Distinct sound when looping

Powered by USB

Cons:

Powers on automatically

White noise sounds are all similar, just at higher pitches

Compact with surprisingly deep sound

I enjoy the lower humming sounds, I was impressed with the bass this produced for some of the fan and brown noise sounds. Smaller then I expected since I didn't read the size description. It will get loud as well.

So far, we like it for the “attic fan” sound

We’ve had this little sleep noise maker for about a week and so far it works well. We like it especially for the “attic fan” sound which is the perfect noise for us. The machine has 2 categories for the sleep noise — “fan sounds” and “white noises”. The white noises include brown noise, as well. To find the various fan noises, you cycle up and down either one of the category buttons. Just read the directions. It’s easy. The volume control seems good, although it seems to be louder for the white noises than the fan sounds. Best of all (and unlike other sleep noise machines) it has NO lights on it! For travel, I plan to use my iPhone but I’m assuming this would be fine. It’s small and lightweight and has a USB plug. (Happily, with an included charger.)

cancels out sound

it’s adjustable and looks cute wherever i put it :3

I thank my sister for suggesting it to me.

My sister has 2 of these and she raves over how good they are. I spent the night a month ago with my 4 month old and we slept so good. I had to get one for my own. We love it.

It sounds great. It is small but has big sound.

I ordered this for my work room located inside a busy salon. It works great and I couldn’t be happier! It blocks out sound but my clients never realize it is on.

10+ years later… still the best white noise machine

I’ve been using LectroFan for over 10 years at this point and we currently have 5 in our house (plus one we travel with). That alone probably says enough.

The sound quality is what keeps me coming back. It’s true white noise + fan sounds, not a looped track, so it’s consistent and doesn’t have that annoying repeating pattern. You can adjust the volume really precisely, which makes a big difference for sleep.

It’s super simple to use. Just power, volume, and a toggle between white noise and fan sounds. There’s also a built-in timer if you want it to shut off, but we usually run ours all night. It’s compact, easy to pack, and great for travel.

Only downside is they don’t last forever. After a few years ours tend to get a little crackly and we replace them. But honestly, for how much we use them every single night, it’s worth it.

We’ve tried others over the years and always come back to this.

I soon realized I am not a white noise machine and shushing a baby to sleep every night was not my idea of good times. …

When we brought our baby home from the hospital, I helped him get to sleep by saying “shhhhh” near his bassinet. I soon realized shushing a baby to sleep every night was not my idea of good times.

So far we’ve used four different white noise makers (not including myself) and this is by far the best. I have since gladly retired as a white noise machine.

Pros

Does not sound tinny; a problem with two other machines we purchased

Adjustable volume with excellent range; not too quiet to drone out noises

Incredible variety of fan and white noise sounds; Do you like your white noise low and rumbling, or with a bit higher pitch? a white noise to suit anyone’s taste.

Compact and sleek design

Small size makes it reasonable to travel with

NO BATTERIES NEEDED. Plug this sucker to the wall and keep it on ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT knowing you won’t go through 5 trillion batteries in a week.

Cons

Connection AC/DC cord is a little funky, but not a huge deal. Photo included.

Nicely made White Noise Machine, but has weird sound selection, check out video for sound samples

Nicely made unit, solid and simply to use, but out of the fan sounds (10) and white noise sounds (10) I would say that only A handful of the sounds are particularly pleasant. Many of the sounds on the fan switch sound like industrial fans, which is not my idea of a good background noise. And the last five or so white noise sounds are very high frequency and almost aversive in their quality. The machine itself is built very well and is simple to use. See my video review. The power switch turns it on to the last setting. You can hit the 60 minute part of the power switch and each time you do it it adds 60 minutes on a timer. The volume toggle is simple. Then there is one button where if you press it on the left side you get fan sounds, and on the right side you get white noises. There are 10 of each and as you will hear on my video when you reach the last one there's kind of a booping noise which tells you that you're at the beginning.

Mainly the reason I gave it three stars was the selection of noises. As you'll hear on my video many of the fan noises sound really annoying at least in my opinion, and at least half of the white noise sounds are so high in frequency that they sound like static. Other people may have different sound preferences but I've discovered that if you're buying this for a variety of sounds, there's no great advantage. I compared it to my Marpac sound machine, and found that there was one noise on the white noise side that was comparable. But I didn't really see a big advantage of it other than variable volume. For this much money, I expected better sounds. I actually prefer just playing pink noise on an Alexa dot or on my phone.

But don't take my word for it, check out my video and you can hear all of the sounds.

Quits working after a year or two.

I wish I could love this sound machine. We sleep with white noise in our house. I initially bought one to replace a broken fan in a child's bedroom. I fell in love with the size and sound quality! So I bought two more for all the kids' rooms. But one by one, my initial purchase machines have all broken. Each one stopped working in a similar manner. The sound becomes unstable, quiet, and crackly. I replaced the first two that broke with more Lectrofans, but today the third original one has broken. I am going to unhappily search for a different brand. I've spent $250 on five Lectrofans in less than 3 years and only have two of them still working. Disappointing.

I'll attach a quick video to show you what it sounds like once it breaks.
