Sharp picture, useful features, and strong value at $19.99

Based on a couple of meetings and test calls, this has been a noticeable upgrade from the basic external webcam I had been using for work. I compared it directly against an Adesso CyberTrack H4, and the difference was easy to see.

My older camera always felt too zoomed in, as though the other people on the call were mostly seeing my head. This camera provides a more natural view that includes my upper chest and some of the room without feeling excessively wide. The image is also noticeably sharper and more detailed. During a Teams call, I switched between the two cameras without telling my colleagues which was which, and they immediately noticed the clearer picture and better framing.

My home office is a challenging environment for a webcam because the room is generally dim, with bright windows behind me. I use several lamps pointed upward to help offset the backlighting. Even with that setup, the image has looked clear once focused. The camera took a moment to focus when I first connected it, but after that the autofocus adjusted quickly when I leaned forward or back.

The built-in microphones were another pleasant surprise. I normally use a separate USB microphone because the microphones on basic webcams tend to sound weak. In my testing, the audio from this camera sounded clear and crisp enough that I would be comfortable using it as an all-in-one setup.

Installation and compatibility were straightforward with my work laptop. I plugged the camera into a USB hub connected through my docking station rather than directly into the laptop, and it was recognized without any issues. It also worked properly in Microsoft Teams without requiring extra setup. That is useful for anyone with a desk setup built around multiple monitors, a dock, and limited available ports.

The camera also feels well designed for everyday use. It is compact and sleek, with a low-profile mount that barely extends down the front of the monitor. The built-in privacy cover is a useful addition. It would be nice if there were a more obvious visual indicator showing whether the cover is open or closed, but that is a minor design suggestion rather than a significant drawback.

At the time of this review, it is listed at $19.99. For that price, the sharp picture, responsive autofocus, usable built-in microphones, compact design, privacy cover, and simple plug-and-play setup make this a very good value.

Compact 2K Webcam with a Clean Design and Useful Privacy Shutter

This AIRHUG 2K webcam made a good first impression. It is compact, clean-looking, and much smaller than my older webcam, which is a nice improvement if you want a less bulky setup on top of a monitor or laptop. The overall design feels more modern and better integrated compared to some older webcams that look like add-ons rather than part of the workspace.

One feature I really like is the built-in privacy shutter. The cover is very small and neatly designed, which I prefer over my older webcam’s privacy cover that felt more like a retrofit sliding piece. This one feels like it was actually designed as part of the camera from the beginning. It is simple, but it makes the webcam feel more polished.

Video quality is on par with what I expected from the description. The 2K resolution looks clear for meetings, and the image is sharp enough for regular video calls, Zoom, Teams, and general online use. I also like the narrower 60-degree view because it keeps the focus more on the person and less on everything in the background. For a home office or work setup, that is useful because it gives a cleaner, more professional frame.

The microphone works as expected. I would still use a dedicated mic for the best audio quality, but for a built-in webcam microphone, it does the job fine for everyday calls. Autofocus and general performance have also been good so far, and I have not run into any issues with setup. It is basically plug and play, which is exactly what I want from a webcam. On a separate note, this AIRHUG brand also included a complimentary microphone, and that was surprisingly impressive. The noise isolation on that mic is truly excellent and performed better than I expected. A stylus was also included, though I have not tested that yet because I do not currently have a tablet that can make proper use of it.

For around $20, this webcam feels like a steal. At that price, I was not expecting much beyond basic video quality, but the compact design, clear 2K image, built-in privacy shutter, working microphone, and plug-and-play setup make it feel like a much better value than expected. I have used larger webcams that cost more and do not feel as clean or thoughtfully designed as this one.

Overall, I have nothing to complain about so far. The webcam is compact, works as described, has a well-designed privacy shutter, and gives solid video and audio performance for meetings. Based on this webcam and the bonus microphone, this maker seems to put out well-developed and thoughtfully designed products.
