Was super excited about this mic.... When I finally got my package I opened my box only to find the wrong item. Very disappointing

This is a pro quality studio mic with 24-bit resolution. The four pick up patterns are very useful and have a profound effect on the recordings. Adjustable gain is nice as is the direct headphone connection which eliminates latency. The stand, if you use it, is solid metal and stable. I just can't say enough about the sound quality. I have used an external pop filter, but it isn't needed because it already has one built-in. Great value.
HeyDarren
I was very concerned about having a mic that would reject ambient/background noise while still improving the quality of my speaking and singing recordings. This is my first USB condenser mic and I'm happy with the performance so far. The other reviews I've read (both good and critical ones) are pretty accurate so it's mostly about picking which things are most important for how you plan to use it. It plugs and plays with my Mac Book Pro very well. I haven't been able to connect it to my iPad or iPhone 8 plus because the power demand is too high, I'm not sure what adapter I need to get it powered while connected to those devices, but my primary recording is on my computer anyway.
The one design challenge I haven't figured out is how to get a shock mount for it. It's not round like typical condenser mics so finding something that would work from the mic stand adapter has been fruitless.
I've used it for Zoom calls, recording videos speaking and singing, and the sound quality has been well received in each instance. In the future plan to use it for podcast interviews.

I ordered this microphone to use when recording informational and educational videos for work. I found the quality of my laptop's built-in microphone as well as my desktop's webcam were not great quality. Using this microphone, the quality is much higher and more natural sounding.
It has a cool look, and I like the various controls which include rotational knobs that feel high quality. It works fine with both Mac and Windows and is truly plug and play.
If you're looking for a good Mic. for recording audio/video clips, you'd do yourself a favor by ordering this one.

See the video for and audio sample with this microphone. I had the lowest bit rate suggested.
As I say in the video, it says on the box "Windows 8+", but it works fine for Windows 7. I was able to plug it in and find the driver for it.
I am not going to pretend I am an expert when it comes to brands of microphones, but I found this to be a quality microphone. I do however, make a lot of videos with my voice, and my lapel mic and sometimes my shotgun mic outside.
You can listen to the video and decide for yourself how the audio is. I do have a degree in electronics, so I do understand saturation and cut off clipping, so I turned the microphone gain down. I DO like that is had that separate control. Saturation and cutoff clipping for those that don't know is when your voice sounds distorted and "tiny" on audio. What happens is you get so much input on the base of your cmos, or transistor that the output of the amplifier slams into what is called the Cut off and saturation region. The microphone has so much imput, the transistors output can't go any higher, so your voice gets distorted. You will hear lots of volume, but your voice won't sound clear.
I found that what I hear out of the monitors (head phones) does not necessarily relate to what the video sounds like. I experimented until I got what sounded right. I probably could have turned the gain on the microphone up just a little bit.
I used this in "Tight Stereo" or I picked up all the ambient noise like the fan on the wood pellet stove, the auger on the wood pellet stove etc. That is to say, this certainly is not a sound studio....
I hope this helps!

As far as the audio, I do not have a deep bass voice. My voice is rather soft.
This will work just fine for video voice over work. I am planning on doing a video in the future that I think this will be good for!
As I said, I am a microphone novice, so I would have liked to see a windscreen, but my exceptions might be off. Microphone windscreens might always be a separate item for this quality and price of microphone. I may be being unreasonable.

I'm so blown away by the clarity and sound of this microphone. I've been testing this during my 5 week long travels in the US and, full disclaimer, I had a pre-release version of this mic gifted to me.
It has four easy to set pick up patterns with descriptive names like "Front", "Front & Back" etc. and no scary omnidirectional, cardioid etc. icons! This is truly designed for professionals who just want to record and not worry about the tech. Saying this I really believe that audio pros will enjoy having this in their backpack too.
I like the shape and design. It looks good on or off camera and has great volume control for microphone volume (into your recorder or audio editor) and headphone volume. You can select the microphone as an output and even listen to any audio back on headphones (not supplied).
There's a handy mute button on the front and the microphone comes apart by untwisting the screw at the base. This allows you to mount it on a boom arm or easily transport it. I would really love to have a soft carry case with this mic as throwing it disassembled into a backpack or carry on could leave it prone to scratches so this would be a nice addition as an accessory or additional purchase that I'd be happy to buy.
Conclusion... podcaster, gamer, live streamer or musician? Get this mic!
