great mic for a great price!
Love these mics. The 20db annentuator is perfect for drums. I close mic the snare, hats, ride and two crash cymbals with them in a recording setting and they sound amazing. Highly recommend.

Great for Home Recording Stringed Instruments
I had been using the Shure SM57 to mic my guitar. I was mostly happy, but you must have your instrument close. I bought two AKG P170s and am very happy with these small diameter condenser microphones. Very good high frequency response and sensitivity... The video shows me and my daughter, a P170 on each guitar. If you are serious about buying these mics, you will wear your headphones and take a listen. I used a Yamaha MG10XU mixer into a MacBook Pro using Audacity DAW. I have also used two in an XY configuration and had excellent results.

Very good microphone for the price. Have only tested it on nylon string guitar so far, but I am very happy with the results.
