A Little Drum With a Big Voice

It’s a beautiful instrument and has exceed my expectations immensely

This steel to for drum is so fun! I set it out on the counter and my whole family has played with it when they walked by.

The quality is superb! The metal is thick and durable and has a beautiful finish. It’s almost reminds me of desert sand with the shimmer. The accent ribbon to hide the seam is a beautiful touch.

The drum has 8 notes and comes with finger caps to play it or a set of drum sticks. It also comes in a protective velvet carrying case. I closed is a booklet of sheet music to practice with.The sound quality is lovely and I like that they thought to add a bottom plug that can be removed so the notes have more resonance.

I have to say I am truly surprised by how nice this instrument is. I would highly recommend!

Pretty cool to be able to pull this out of the box and immediately start playing songs on it.

I have a lot of different musical instruments, but I’ve never played with a steel tongue drum before, so I didn’t really know what to expect. In practice, it is a lot like playing a xylophone, except instead of many bars being laid out in a horizontal orientation, multiple tongues are cut into the steel top surface and indicator marks are laser cut into the tongues to tell you which note is which. They recommend that you use the two wooden mallets when you first start playing, while black finger picks are also provided as well. The drum is attractive, and it feels weighty and well-crafted, which definitely encourages you to keep playing with it.

I really liked that I could simply flip open the book to a number of different simple, universally-known songs and begin learning to play them on this drum. As someone who doesn’t have a lot of formal education in music but who enjoys trying to learn more about it, it does feel like there is a layer of information missing (i.e., what notes do these tongues that are labeled 1 to 7 and i represent?), but I am sure that there are resources out there that can explain this concepts further if I dive more into it.

This is a really nice 6 note steel tongue drum! It is durably crafted of steel alloy. It has a beautiful painted finish in yellow ochre color with a glittery crackle finish. The notes are clearly engraved. The tones is pitch perfect. It is not too loud. It has a beautiful fabric belt around the middle. It comes with two mallets and four finger picks. It is easy to use and has a music book with it. It comes with a brown velvet bag for storage. It would be a wonderful gift for a musical friend or someone who loves music with their meditation. It would be great at work for a little mindfulness during breaks. It would be great for teaching kids a musical instrument. It is excellent quality and a great value for the price! Just as described.

My Favorite Drum

First: Everything is well packaged. HOWEVER, the decorative band comes in a bag, not on the drum. I like the drum without the decorative band - it is just a dust collector. The mallet heads are not attached to the sticks so you have to do some assembling - small pieces & 75-year-old hands not a good mix. The plug for the bottom does not fit - does not stay in place. It has no tension and is not very pliable. I often put rubber balls/bells inside my drums to change the sound. Can't do that with a faulty plug--everything falls out. The drum is beautiful. It sits on a table beside my desk. I play it often. The sound is like a bell - all tongues tuned perfectly, key of C. This drum does not cause feedback through my hearing aids. It does not hurt my ears - the tone is perfect. It comes with a zippered case for storage or transport and a beginner music pamphlet. I have more expensive and less expensive drums - the sound makes the Aklot my favorite. Definitely worth the price.

AWESOME SWEET MELLOW SOOTHING DRUM

Absolutely love this steel tongue drum. I’m no musician, but every tongue key sounds perfectly in tune and make a beautiful sound. It arrived an hour ago & I can’t keep smiling & enjoying drumming it. I say it is a WINNER. I highly recommend to anyone who loves the mellow sweet sound of a steel drum. It’s not twangy & the mellow sound radiates through my body. I’m so relaxed from playing it. What a real joy. Thank you AKLOT

This panda drum is the perfect size! The sound is great and it’s extremely functional. At 10 inches, it’s the perfect size and reasonably priced! Highly recommend!

Merry Christmas to me!

I could never really read music. But teaching myself ukulele I could follow along on YouTube. I cannot find any good songs already broken down to be able to learn anything besides happy birthday and twinkle twinkle. I’m hoping to learn some reggae songs that’s why I used my tuner so I could know what note each tongue represents. Hope my photo helps you. I got the 10” it’s big! Will probably fit better in a backpack not a purse.

Better than what I can find at my local shop( 10" drum)

Easy to play, not too heavy on your lap but still good weight to it, finger pads are junk though. Biggest I could find at a local music store was 8 inches and over 50$. YouTube has a lot of reviews on this one and I liked what I'd seen and heard out of this drum. Good sound for price range. I believe this one only comes in gray.

Two of the notes are flat and the box smelled of mold when I opened it and the case was totally molded!!! Sending it back!’

The case had mold spots on it and when we opened the box of drum sticks, there was literal mold and dust as if it had been siting in a wet basement for 20+ years.

I was disappointed in this drum. The drum case has large white spots all over the drum case. The rubber on the drum sticks, finger taps and other rubber items all had some dust particles. The silver drum was too shiny as well as the number stickers.

Granchild (10) loves it. Now sister in law wants one.

Made a fantastic birthday gift for 10 year old granddaughter. She quickly learned to play it with the accompanying book using numbers not musical notes. Luckily she opened it last as it was THE GIFT this year.

Everyone played with it. Nice relaxing music.

Now my sister in law (60+) wants one for her birthday.

Edited to say, I just realized there's a plastic, clicking sound in the background from my daughter playing with something off camera. Oops! Ignore that!

The sound of this metal tounged drum is hauntingly beautiful! The sound really carries throughout our home. Included is a sound dampener, that looks like a crocheted belt, which gets placed around the circumference of the drum. This helps to take the edge of the tone that can make the sound a little uncomfortable for me after playing for a while.

There are three ways to play the drum: mallets, finger picks, and bare fingers. The mallets get the loudest sound out of the drum, then the finger picks, and bare fingers are the softest.

Helpful to have is the storage case with shoulder strap. It makes it easy to transport when we take the drum different places.

This would make a fabulous gift for the music lover in your life!

Beautiful Drum!

This Steel Tongue Drum has a really pretty sound that's very calming. The weight on this is decently heavy and it's very solid; The quality is great. It comes with a durable carry case, tuning instructions with some beginner music sheets, finger picks and the drum sticks. The value on this is Good! Very Nice!

Amazing tone! Perfect pitch! Profound quality!

I cannot say enough about this hand pan! I'm blown away by how fantastic it sounds and all the accessories.

I bought a hand pan about 10 years ago when they were rarer and ya had to take what you could get. I paid $200 for an instrument that had a flat note and a tin-ish sound. THIS HAND PAN is profoundly better. The notes resonate deeply withing the drum and creates a full loud sound. Each note is in perfect pitch. I honestly don't have words to express how enveloping the sound is. I think the addition of rubber feet lifts this above other models, it allows the whole instrument to resonate.

Besides sounding magical, the accessories are top notch. The carrying case fits perfectly and is well padded. The mallets are great and it includes finger mallets/rings so you can play it like a lotus drum. It also has a knitted skirt/bumper.

In my video, I compare the sound from this to my previous hand pan. You can hear the difference between an eh model and the unbelievable sound that comes from this.

Oh! And it looks fantastic! The purple texture finish is flawless and the gold lettering matches perfectly.

They could be asking 2x-3x as much for this hang drum and it would be worth it.

Yes, this is a great quality, perfect pitch, instrument. If you are researching options, this is it. I'm planning on buying another one from this seller in another key. I want the whole collection and I trust these folks to make them for me.

Lovely!

I’m more than happy with this steel tongue drum! It looks great, is made out of nice thick steel and sounds amazing! It’s hard to believe a hunk of metal can produce such a delicate sound.

The finish (paint?) on the instrument is flawless and has an interesting texture. The drum arrived in tune within about +/- 10 cents (1/100 semi-tone) of true. Some tongues are dead on, most are within 5 cents, a couple are about 10 cents. That’s perfectly acceptable and actually gives the drum a bit more of an “organic” feel.

A bunch of accessories come with the drum. A gif bag, two mallets, six finger mallets, a mallet rest, a book of simple tunes, an extra set of stickers, a cover for the sound hole and a knitted “skirt”(?) that’s meant to go around the circumference of the drum. I found the skirt was difficult to put on and difficult to keep on once in place. I can’t tell any difference in sound with or without it, so I’m not going to use it.

The only things I don’t love about this drum are the stickers. They just look a bit cheap. I’d rather have seen them painted or on etched into the surface. Although I suppose some more experienced tongue, drum players might want to remove them for a cleaner look. It’s a minor thing, in any event. If you are ambitious, you could just paint your own numbers on there.

The bottom line: you get an awful lot for the price. This is a fun-to-play, lovely sounding tongue drum that I’m really happy I own.

So perfect

So I’m a spiritual gal calling in abundance, however meanwhile thats happening I really wanted this beautiful instrument without spending soul much, in time I will get an amazing one but for now, this one is perfect, I spent days listening to many reviews on many tongue drums and this one I loved how it had a deep sound a light sound. Mind you I’m not a huge music snob, but I loveeeee music, so if it sounds amazing I’m for it, can’t tell you if they’re tuned or not. But i get so lost in it, I get so in zen city it’s wild, I love it and highly recommend if you’re looking for a deep and sharp sound :) much love!

Great sound. Even toddlers and young children can play without it hurting your ears.

I LOVE the tones emitted when my 4 yr old granddaughter or I play the tongue drum. I would have preferred actual notes on the drum (as you can see in the photos, I actually cut notes in an easier to see color from permanent vinyl and applied them to the drum). When I can I will be looking for one that has at least 2 full octaves of notes, but this was a good start for us.

Healing vibrations.

First, I removed the advertising and added the notes. This is my 4th. The other 3 from other providers were not in tune. This is in tune and also is enough steel that magnets will attach inside to change the sound, BUT the hole on the bottom is small for most adult hands. Yet all the steel, less alloy makes a ting vibration, that I like. The others had a more solid tone. I do wish this was a 12in.

This drum sounds amazing! The drum makes the most beautiful sounds, very relaxing, the book comes with a few songs and I am very pleased. Only downfall is the sticker notes but they send extras so it’s still worth it.

Puts me at peace.

I wasn't sure what I was getting when I ordered this, because you can't hear the fullness of the sound from videos online, but I am not disappointed. I myself would have priced it at $74.99, but that's just me. My only complaint is that whoever placed the stickers obviously did it in a rush. I painted the corresponding notes on for anyone who wants to translate from a piano or other instruments. But it is a superb product and I love it. 5 stars all de way. Namaste.

Excellent quality drum and fast shipping

I love this drum. I was nervous about ordering because I tried to buy one for a different company through Facebook Market Place and after 3-4 months of waiting I got a cheep pleather wallet instead. I am pleased to say that this company had my drum sent to me in days. It also came with finger picks, rubber tipped mallets, a nice tote bag, and a small instructional booklet. The sound is beautiful and I was playing, not well but playing, in a few moments. I’m also enjoying sharing the drum with my girlfriend’s 7 year old. It’s a great way to introduce a young person to music as the drum is all in one key so you have to work to not make it sound good.

Wonderful sound

I love the sound of this drum. The drum itself is beautiful. It comes with two mallets, and several finger mallets. I like the lovely, quiet sound that it makes when you brush the tongue with the finger mallets. It is nice that it comes with a carrying case.

I included a video so you can hear the sound it makes, but I am not much of musician obviously.

Great instrument!

I Love the sound. Perfect for a spiritual or relax session. The material is very strong and nice. Rubber stand so it wont slips. Nice sticks. It comes with a book with different songs that you can play, pretty easy. Lovely instrument. i recommend it has a nice size.
