Good camera system cheaper annual subscription at three dollars a month if you pay in advance and easy easy set up I highly recommend. I hope they make in the future a more high definition camera. For now these are great for the price.

Literally 1 month + 1 week and this trash heap died. Outside in a covered shed, not exposed to direct sunlight and barely made it past the 30 day return window. Do NOT buy the Plus 2 model. I've had no problems with the indoor models but as you can see in the video, this thing is a doorstop now. Unpairable and useless.

The picture is good quality. I can normally make out what is going on and I like the smart notifications. My indoor only cat decided to use the dog door after 6 years of him ignoring the dog door. Thanks to the notification, he was found before he got lost.

I had trouble setting up the camera and all the troubleshooting advice didn’t help, it never mentions removing the film on the camera (it does in setup but not in troubleshooting).
My blink mini 2 had no trouble, even with the film on so I didn’t occur to me that was the cause.
Vehicle detection is null! I have it setup and it didn’t detect the same Vehicle that my ‘indoor, in a window) blink camera captured. This is a big disappointment.
The picture during the day is very clear, will see what it looks like at night.
I’ve used Alfred a few years ago by using a Tablet as an indoor camera and really like it to keep an eye on my pets, and other pets at a home I was going to care for pets while my friend was in the hospital. It gave me peace of mind to be able to check in on them during the night after I had left. So, I decided to give the Alfred camera itself a try to use outdoors as it’s prescribed. I wish Vehicle detection worked. I’ve setup person and pet detection as well and my pets haven’t triggered the camera though they are viewable in the position that I have the camera. I’m disappointed because this camera caused almost 2x the blink camera. I have a few days still to be able to return so I’ll see how it does overnight because the night vision for security is another priority and reason I got this camera.

Setting up the camera was also really easy. I unboxed, plugged in the power cord, and once I was signed up on the app I just had to scan a QR code from the app to connect. The user interface is pretty simple to figure out and use. The picture quality is pretty good. That being said, I don’t think it’s 2K image quality. It does have a “2K Supreme” quality option- if you sign up for their paid service. The night vision option also works properly and has a good picture as well. I also liked that there was a camera light you could turn on if need be. There is a siren to deter others, but it’s not extremely loud. You can use the talk button and speak through the camera as well. The voices come through crystal clear. (hearing others on the camera, and talking to others from the camera). The camera and the stand all feel like they are made well. I will say for the stand, I couldn't adjust the angle at first. I think the metallic colored material between the camera and the stand is actually plastic. There was silver colored paint keeping it stuck together. It finally snapped after using some force and it had spots on it like the paint dried it together. The downside is there are ads everywhere on the app. They really pressure you to upgrade. In less than 24 hours after signing up, I had already received 6 emails from various things on the app. If you want to record an event, you need to upgrade. If you want to zoom in on your video you need to upgrade. If you want a better picture, you need to upgrade. If you want to view the playback, upgrade. If you want to view the events that have been captured- you guessed, it- upgrade. It says it includes 1 month free, but requires a credit card to even get that. To top it off, 3 times now the app has asked personal questions like “what are you using this camera for?” “Where will this camera be placed?”. I think that’s invasive. Overall, the camera has the capabilities if you upgrade. I wouldn’t buy this again just because of the ads, upgrading pressure, invasive questioning, and not being able to do basic actions without upgrading- that doesn’t seem like trustworthy security to me.

I can't believe that people are giving the Alfred Camera one star reviews because they don't like the subscription cost. Check out Blink or Nest or Ring and see that subscriptions cost more for less features. Look again and see that the Alfred Camera is also less expensive than comparable or lesser hardware, and it's HD, comes with an LED spotlight, microphone, and speaker. I've been through others and for the money (and even for a lot more money), this is the best.
The viewer side of the cameras is great as well. You can use the Alfred Camera hardware or you can use your old mobile phones. Both work great. It's easy to view motion detected video or you can set it for continuous recording.
Unlike Blink and so many others, detection and notification are almost instant. With Blink, you wait for the camera to wake up. Then you wait some more for it to find the video and display it for you. You'll never see the UPS driver dropping off a package with Blink because by the time Blink wakes up, the driver is back at his truck.
Not so with Alfred Camera... almost instantaneous detection and notification, HD clarity, and a speaker that's much better than the Blink cameras. The only downside is that these cameras require a power source... 5 volt USB. The reason battery operated cameras like Blink are so slow is that they place a premium on battery life over instant notification.
I've setup an old phone to capture my feral cat going in and out of the box I made to keep him safe in cold weather... video attached. I've currently got my Alfred Camera Plus 2 peering out my front window... that's the image included with this post.
You won't find a better security camera system for the money, or a lot more, and the subscription costs are reasonable, especially when compared to other brands.

If only the product page was more upfront and transparent on how limited the use is without a paid subscription…
From an installation and hardware perspective, this AlfredCam outdoor camera makes a strong first impression. It’s a USB-powered, plug-in camera (battery life is not applicable as this is plug-in only), so it must remain connected to power at all times, but the included 3 meter cable makes finding a good mounting location easy. You get everything you need for a smooth setup and installation: screws, strong double sided adhesive, zip ties for non-invasive installs, and even a window badge indicating active video surveillance. A 64GB SD card is also included, which initially feels like a nice value add. Mounting the camera was straightforward, and once powered on, the system is simple to understand. The only real hiccup during setup was the QR-code pairing process. This camera relies solely on QR scanning. It would not pair until I removed the protective plastic film from the lens. So be sure to remove the protective film before pairing.
In daily use, performance lands squarely in the middle. Live video quality offers multiple resolution options, but in practice they all look the same. I didn’t get the crisp high-definition image I was hoping for, though it also wasn’t grainy or unusable, I’d call it average across the board. One standout feature is the built-in spotlight, which is surprisingly bright at night and would absolutely help deter unwanted activity. Where the experience really stumbles is the software model. Without a paid subscription, functionality is highly limited: live view cuts off after a few minutes, motion and sound alerts are disabled, timestamps are unavailable and even recorded video playback is locked (not just cloud-based but locally from the SD card is locked too). That makes the SD card useless unless you enroll in premium. The app itself appears proprietary and well laid out, but most features are gated behind premium prompts. The build quality of the camera is average, functional, but doesn’t feel like it would survive UV rays or a small fall from more than a few feet. Overall, this camera can make sense if you’re committing to the premium subscription and want a simple, always-plugged-in solution with a strong night spotlight. Without premium, the value just isn’t there and that limitation should be much more clearly advertised upfront.

I have had Alfred cameras since they were introduced back in 2022, I've used the service for longer than that for all the old phones I have laying around. I have the premium service for a little over $30/year. Unlike some other subscriptions, you can add as many cameras/phones as you want. Also, unlike some other services, you can use this camera without a subscription as well; great value. To top it off, this one can trip by sound. The sound can be calibrated from whisper to lawn mower. Or in my neighborhood, whisper to helicopters lol.
I have not tested the 'outdoor' ness on this camera, I have it mounted in my garage that really only gets down to maybe 35 degrees. These past few days, the lows were in the teens outdoors. The camera didn't faulter.
The cable to connect to the power cord seems robust enough to withstand wind, rain and snow. I like that it came with an over 9' cord.
This kit came with a memory card, so I didn't have to go digging around my junk drawer.
This camera nor the other older Alfred camera has ever lost service. The cellphones on the other hand, occasionally go offline.
The low light picture quality is phenomenal. I actually have a very old camera phone in my garage with this camera. The old camera phone cannot see anything, this camera catches the random moths or insects flying in my garage in the pitch dark! I could use the zoom feature to tell what kind of insect it is. At first it was alarming that my camera was tripping, but then I was impressed. No moths are going to take off with my car or all those 10 mm wrenches I've hoarded in my garage! The spotlight turns on as soon as I open the either the overhead or entryway door.
The magnet is strong enough to hold itself up and have the cable dangling from the metal shelves in your garage. I didn't have to do any weird maneuvering around my junk to mount the camera.
Set up was done within 5 min, to be fair, I already had the app. The interphase is super easy to use.
Great company, great camera, absolutely no complaints.

This Smart Home Security Camera has some great features, including color night vision, LED spotlight, and 2-way audio.
All items required for installation are included and the process was easy. There is a QR Code to scan for the download of the app. A S64G SD Card is also included.
This system will be set up for our backyard, which I'm very excited about. We have one in the front and wouldn't be without it.
This is a good product at a good price

OK so a few things about this strange little camera
PICTURE QUALITY - Not bad. Says it's HD and I have no reason to doubt that.
THE APP - Pesky, annoying app. Pop ups all over the place. Banner ads. A mess.
THE PRICE - If you want to zoom in, you get a pop up saying that you need to upgrade--just to be able to zoom in on the camera video! Sorry, but that should be FREE and not an "advanced feature". No one likes being nickeled and dimed, but evidently they haven't heard about this yet.
They give you one month for free when you 1st start but then you area expected to subscriber and that price that I just saw is:
1st Month is FREE
Subscription is a monthly fee of $5.99
$5.99 * 12 months = $71.88 annually
See the screenshot I just made off my phone that shows this price. So the previous reviewer who said it was $72 a year was just about right, and the previous reviewer who said it's only $29.95 is incorrect, at least that's what I saw today, in November of 2025.
PROS
* Can be used without a subscription but you'll have to put up with the pop ups in the app
* Like the little window sticker that says that I'm using their phone camera as a security system,
* Like the zip ties, which could be helpful if you have to mount the camera somewhere
* Like the 64GB Micro SD card
CONS
* The $71.88 a year subscription
* The banner ads in the app
* The weird wonky app
* The set up: App says you need two devices to set it up. They talk about downloading their app on two devices, which is just odd. They even refer to the app store for your phone, so you can download their app on both devices..? Later, it explains that one of those "devices" COULD can be your camera! And all of this, just so you can show a QR code to the camera! That's it. No need for another phone, when you are setting up a CAMERA which can see the QR code and so why all the talk about using another cell phone? Why make it harder than it needs to be? Overcomplicated!
BOTTOM LINE: I don't recommend this. I think you'd be better off getting something like a WyzeCam. You can view the live stream. But you have to pay if you want to RECORD. You have to pay if you want to ZOOM IN. Too many of these annoyances for me, thanks. But no thanks. Thumbs down.

I’m already a subscriber to their premium yearly plan, so, that worked out perfect. Quality of camera is excellent. Night vision is excellent. Love it. We live in the middle of the woods and do not keep lights on at night. As seen below, pretty remarkable for night vision.
A-Z Reviews
I ordered this to keep an eye on my dog. It set up easily, and the video is quite good. Unfortunately, the feature set in the phone app is severely limited without a subscription. Premium for zoom? for playback?? I have enough subscriptions.
So I'm just using it as a fairly basic live camera. I can talk over it and activate a spotlight and/or siren. I wasn't expecting much without a subscription, and that's exactly what I got. If you don't mind paying, it does appear to have a lot of intelligent features for a non-PTZ cam and does look rather well-made.

Seems to be high quality, however, they require a subscription to do practically anything! Can't even zoom in on the live feed without a subscription. You can do cool things with the app like converting old phones or tablets into security cameras, but it's all worthless since you have to have a dumb subscription for everything! Can't record, low res live feed, can't zoom, can't set detection zones, the app even has ads... Once I saw that, I unplugged it and it won't be connected to my network again.
It might be fine if they made it clear BEFORE you add the device to the app, before you bought it, that you need to have a subscription for it to work well, but the only time I see it mentioned is in the last picture and when referencing the AI tracking... C'mon guys, at least tell us.

For $40 bucks it’s a value with some caveats you need to know.
The setup is easy, and the picture is descent. The lag is less than a second behind and audio quality is good. It comes with a wall mount with screws, 3m tape, and couple of zip ties.
The reason I’m taking off stars is because it requires an app to use, and has basic features locked behind a paywall. You can download recordings but the app forces you to watch an Ad when you do, watermarks the video, and the low light functions aren’t great.
ladygoodmood
Really impressed with this camera! The video quality is super clear, even at night, and I love that it works both indoors and outdoors. Setup took just a few minutes through the app, and the included 64GB card is a big bonus — no subscription required to record. Motion alerts work well, and two-way audio is very clear, no lag. Overall, great value and gives real peace of mind!
Hello There
Nice, basic security camera for the price. It is packaged well, set up is easy (you need a smartphone), and they include various mounts (e.g., zip tie around a poll, adhesive, screw-in, and it is magnetic.
It is limited to 2.5k resolution and as with all cameras like this night vision is more grainy than in sunlight. I am also not a fan of the motion sensitive LED if coming home in the dark and it shines in your eyes. But, that also helps get a clearer picture at night.
One last point, and not marking down a star for this, but if you are installing outside you need to run power to the location. This is the case for any non-battery powered camera. I would prefer to mount this outside, but need to drill through siding and add wiring in the attic, which makes it much more involved. For now, just set it by a window.

If you're looking for an affordable and easy-to-set-up home security camera, this one will do the job, but be sure to pay close attention to the split between what comes with the 'free' version of the app and the 'premium'. You will need to pay the monthly fee to truly get the most out of it, especially for use outdoors. I tested the camera out without activating the one-month free trial of the premium service to see what the differences were, and they are quite striking. Not only is the 'free' version loaded with ads everywhere, but it's also very limited in what you can do with the camera. The most critical features that weren't available in the 'free' version had to do with configuring the motion detection abilities and sensitivity settings. I wanted this for the entryway to my house, and there are nearby trees/bushes/plants that move in the wind and, as you might expect, set off the motion detection constantly. To remove that type of detection and have the flexibility to take full advantage of the app/camera's AI features to customize it for your needs, the upgrade is essential. With the 'premium' version, you can set a designated customizable 'zone' for it to record movement in and utilize the AI features around human, pet, and vehicle movement detection. The 'premium' version of the app is also necessary to be able to fully utilize the video storage and playback provided with the included 64GB microSD memory card. The card is able to hold about 30 days of video on a continuous 24/7 recording loop, and the app makes it easy to review things in connection to the event notifications, select specific times you want to download as a clip, etc.
As for the camera's capabilities, it produces an impressive result, especially when compared to older 1080p cameras, and is very easy to set up and install. The video is sharp and clear in both day and night viewing, the auto spotlight feature works well to provide additional illumination when needed, and it was easy to install and configure via the Alfred Cam app. I particularly like that it works on dual-band WiFi (5 GHz and 2.3 GHz), as this significantly improves its fast connectivity for live viewing, playback, and video clip downloads. The camera base has a separate removable plate for mounting, with the options of using zip ties for pole/railing mount, screws/anchors for wall mount, a 3M double-sided self-adhesive pad for smooth surfaces, or built-in strong rare-earth magnets for attaching to metal surfaces. The 9-ft power cord has a USB-C connection to the camera's short power cord and a USB-A connection for use with the included 5V two-prong brick adapter. While the camera doesn't have a battery for power storage, the design of the power connection would allow you to use it with a USB-C connection solar panel for daytime use only if you were so inclined. I opted for the magnetic mount on my metal exterior front door, and it worked beautifully in connection with my exterior power outlet nearby. A pair of string light hook clips helped with managing the cord, and it was up and running in no time.
Like any security setup, you have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages to determine what works best for your particular environment and needs. I do like that the Alfred Cam has the ability to add additional cameras should I need to expand things in the future, and the 'premium' app allows me to 'share' the cameras with up to 2 other user devices simultaneously by adding the Alfred Cam app to them and setting them up with their own user IDs for greater security.

I recently purchased a home security camera from AlfredCamera, and it has been a great addition to my home. It connects easily to my Wi-Fi and provides clear surveillance of my front door. The setup was quick and straightforward, and I really like that I can view the live footage right from my phone using the simple, easy-to-use app. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can keep an eye on things anytime, anywhere.
