Microphone

Would not work on my system, so I don’t know how to rate this item. I can say it was well built with some weight too it. I really was pleased with the microphone it just didn’t work with my system.

Great price, quality mic, mic clip and cable

Took this out of the box and the weight surprised me. This thing is metal and has some heft to it. Feels good in the hand, very much like Sennheiser, AKG, EV, Shure etc. Comes with a mic clip and a long mic cable.

The mic clip exhibits a little rubbery flex, a good thing, considering how easily cheaper clips break from being too brittle.

The cable is female XLR on one end and 1/4" unbalanced TS on the other. I wish both ends were XLR. Even more, I wish they were right angled XLRs.

When are you getting in the right angle and low profile XLR game AMZ?

The mic sounds fine. I plan to use it at events where people are making speeches. As a musician, I wouldn't exclude it from use as a vocal mic, in the absence of the ones I'm familiar with.

While it does lock, I do not hear that confirmatory click I'm used to with my other mics.

GREAT BUILD QUALITY, amateur, naïve, mediocre sound.

This mic doesn't sound the best. And that's expected 20 dollar microphone. But with shipping and tax, (without shipping) costing 30 dollars, is not a good deal. If you're looking for a streaming/recording microphone, spit up an extra 10 dollars and just go for fifine. Better option.

Great Bang for the BUCK!

got it for my DJ streaming setup along with the mic stand shown in the included picture, clamps right on to any flat table surface, recommended purchase if you are looking for a decent mic .

This microphone sounds great!

It comes with a mic clip and audio cable (about 20 ft.). It’s really durable, and lightweight (0.57 pounds). It picks up sound primarily from the front and reduces unwanted sounds. It can be used for recording music, podcasts or game streaming. It’s intended for inside use only. It can be used as a handheld mic or with a stand mount. It has very good clarity with vocals and instruments. It even outperforms the SHURE SM57 with sensitivity. This microphone ( -53dB) and the mic were comparing it to (-56dB).

Good vocal mic

I compared this microphone to a sure 58 and to my surprise I thought it held up quite well to the industry standard. I actually thought it had slightly more clarity’s than the sure. For vocals. Good overall eq with all the levels on the board set to 12 o’clock. This microphone has a higher frequency response range than a sure and does not go as low. This microphone is fine for vocals but I wouldn’t us it for micing bass amps or bass drums. It has a good weight to it and the body feels heavy duty. The pop screen doesn’t feel quite as strong as the sure and is a bit larger and more oval.

An okay mic. Not bad for the price.

As a professional musician I'm pretty picky about things like mics and amps and speakers. It took me a long time to settle on the EV mics I use for vocals for my shows and when I'm hosting open mics. I picked them over Shure mics and other offerings because I liked the richness of the sound. But I'm not a snob and I do try other gear and sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. This was not one of those times.

I pointed both mics at a tone generator, set the generator to 440, 1000, 2000 and 10,000 Hz, then pressed record. As you can see both mics reproduced the tone accurately. The big issue was the noise level on the low end of the spectrum. This was not in a studio situation so there was background noise. Yes, a high-pass filter could take care of that but then that's one more "thing" in the signal chain and I like to avoid that if I can.

The biggest thing I dislike about this package is that it is shipped with a XLR to 1/4" cable instead of the standard XLR to XLR. If I planned on using this mic I'd dump the supplied cable. Also, there's no case or bag for the mic for when it's not in use. Most good mics care about that and come with some protection.

So who would use this? First time musicians looking for an entry level mic might. Situations where acoustics aren't that important might be able to get away with this. Kareoke events might think this is decent way to hand a mic to someone who has never used one before and not risk a more expensive device.

And in passing, I really hate mics that have on/off switches. This one does.

this is a good vocal mic- i tested it live and on a recording

I am a musician and use mics all the time. At one of the main places where i go to play and record there is a whole box of mics from various years. In this box are many different types based on quality/brand. It is super sturdy and indicative of a company that has the musician in mind.

I did a recording with a mysterious man named Hawk with him doing spoken word along to 2 other musicians. I recorded him using this mic live as well as a more layered produced thing. Both were successful making this the go to vocal mic for spoken word. For singing i am still using a very expensive older one that also i the main one i use to record an alto saxophone (to give you an idea of the quality). I will update this when i attempt to use it for singing. During the spoken word there were moments of singing and it sounded good but i will update this thoroughly like i do all of my reviews. I recommend this mic for a good vocal capture. I would use it mainly for live performances though it looks good in relation to recording as well.

A bargain basement contender

This low priced vocal microphone is styled to resemble one that is instantly recognizable by anyone who is a performer or who attends live performances. I'm talking about the legendary Shure SM58, the most preferred microphone of all time.

When I saw a pre-sale photo of this microphone I expected it to be mostly lightweight plastic with questionable build quality. Upon seeing it I was pleasantly surprised at how solid it is, and how stage worthy of a pro look it has.

I'm not going to use test specs to describe the sound quality, that's never useful anyway, but on a subjective basis I would classify this as being much better than I expected for recording and live performance vocals.

If you are serious about your singing voice and want to save a few bucks my advice is audition it and hear for yourself if it sounds good to you.

THE DETAILS

Your get the microphone which has a pro grade XLR connector and a fair quality cable with an XLR at one end and a quarter inch phono plug at the other. That cable is common for stage amps and therefore you are set from the start for live performances. The mic’s connector will plug right in to the cables usually used in recording studios. You also get a good quality microphone stand adapter but it is not the best I’ve seen for sliding the mic in and out during live shows. Fortunately the dimensions of the mic are such that it should fit other brand stand adapters. The slide switch has a positive feel to it and it operates smoothly without any electronic pop or slick. The body of the mic has a matte non-slip finish and it has a good balance to it. The wire mesh pop filter is effective but each performer has their own technique so the only way to know if it is right for us is to get one and audition it.

I have several classic Shure microphones from the made in USA days that have survived hundreds of sessions and live performances and are bullet proof. With authentic SM58 models starting at about a hundred bucks I see no reason to buy a clone but if the budget is super tight this one impresses me enough that I think it would be an excellent choice in the entry level price range,
