A handy little camera for home monitoring

I’ve used this camera in two different ways now, and it’s been really handy. In our previous house, I had it set up in the basement TV room so I could check in on what the kids were watching and make sure they weren’t getting into YouTube Shorts. 😂 In our new house, I have it angled toward the front door, and it’s working great for keeping an eye on that area.

The camera lets you pan and tilt remotely, and I like being able to use the two-way audio to listen in or talk through it. It also sends motion alerts, which is helpful. One thing to keep in mind is that if you aren’t paying for the cloud service, you won’t have cloud recording, although you can still get alerts and use the camera’s other features. It does support local recording with a compatible microSD card, which is worth looking into if you want to save footage without a subscription.

Overall, it’s been useful in both setups, and I like having the flexibility to move it around and use it for different purposes. A good option for basic home monitoring!

Clear Picture and Easy-to-Use App

I really like this camera. The picture quality is clear and noticeably better than the other camera I have. I also really like the app because it’s much easier to use and navigate. The notifications are helpful and come through when motion is detected, and the WiFi connectivity has been reliable with no major connection issues.

The motion tracking, pan/tilt, and two-way audio work well, and the night vision is also clear enough for monitoring at night. It’s easy to check the camera through the app whenever I need to.

The only thing I didn’t like is the mounting screw. It snapped right away while I was installing it, so I ended up placing the camera on the side of the bed instead. It still works well from there and does what I need it to do.

Pros

+ Clear 4MP picture

+ Better image quality than my other camera

+ Easy-to-use app

+ Reliable WiFi connectivity

+ Helpful motion notifications

+ Good motion tracking

+ Pan/tilt works well

+ Two-way audio

+ Good night vision

+ Great overall value

Cons

- Mounting screw snapped during installation

Overall, this is a great indoor camera with clear video, reliable connectivity, useful notifications, and an easy-to-use app. Other than the screw issue, I’m very happy with how it works.

Simple and useful

This is a nice simple indoor camera that works well for keeping an eye on things around the house. It’s great for checking in on kids or pets when you’re in another room or away from home. I like that you can move the camera around to get a better view instead of being stuck looking in one direction. The motion tracking and night vision are useful for keeping an eye on things even when you’re not actively watching the camera. The two way audio is also convenient if you need to talk to someone at home or even tell a pet to get off something they shouldn’t be on lol. Overall it’s an easy, useful little camera for basic indoor monitoring.

Easy Indoor Camera With Good Pan and Tilt Coverage

The 4MP image and pan-tilt movement make this useful for watching a larger room without needing several fixed cameras. Human detection and motion tracking help keep the camera focused on actual activity, while two-way audio adds a simple way to check in. For indoor use, a stable Wi-Fi signal and sensible notification settings make the biggest difference in day-to-day experience. The coverage is the main strength. The little practical details are what elevate this above a bare-bones version of the same product.

Camera is compact. USB-C power port on back of base. Easy to use and intuitive app. Good features.

This indoor camera is excellent when you want to be able to control the camera to look around a room.

Included with this item is the camera, mounting plate, mounting screws with anchors, mounting template, USB to USB-C power cord, USB power supply, and the quick start guide.

The camera is cute looking with a spherical top part on a base. The camera can rotate around on the base and goes up and down within the top spherical part. On the back of the base is the USB-C plug for connecting the power cable. There's a power button and micro SD slot on on the black plastic below the camera. You can only access it when the camera is pointed up as high as it can go. The camera is light weight. I weighed it at 5.96 ounces.

Using the camera you connect power and then can add it to the phone app. It required a WIFI password and then there was a firmware update that I applied and I was up and running. There are some settings you can go in and customize such as detection settings, formatting SD cards, and so on. For detection setting you can have it follow a human when it detects one and that works well. You can see the history of notifications when in the app under "Message". In playback you can view recorded video. You can also download video and select a range.

Video quality appears good. And everything has worked really well with an intuitive interface. I think it's great for when you want a camera somewhere such as watching your cats while away on travel.

Just what I've wanted for my camping trailer

I've been wanting a security camera for our camping trailer, but was having trouble find something with the features I needed for a good price. I wanted something that works on 12v, can see in the dark, and could record to a memory card when I don't have wifi.

The AMLINK 4MP WiFi Camera Indoor checks all the boxes. It does everything I want for an affordable price.

As soon as I plugged in the camera it went into pairing mode (It even said it was in pairing mode). I downloaded the AMLINK Pro app from the Google Play store, set up an account, and it took me through the steps to connect the camera to wifi. It was easy to get started.

The most difficult part was figuring out where to put the microSD card. I had a 64GB one from an old cell phone. I finally saw the slot when I aimed the camera up towards the ceiling. It's at the bottom of the black part and to the right.

Part of the issue I had stem from the instructions. They are very tiny and the print is a light gray so the text doesn't contrast with the background. If you are the least bit far-sighted, the instructions are very hard to read.

As soon as I set it up the camera started sending me alerts. I know this function won't be enabled when offline, but it's nice to know it works.

The camera is now recording to the SD card and I can see short videos on my phone. The night vision works good; I'm uploading a photo.

This will give me some peace of mind when I am camping in a remote area and I'm away from the trailer all day fishing or hiking.

A Little Extra Set of Eyes When You Need Them

This is the kind of camera that quickly becomes one of those devices you wonder how you lived without. Whether you want to keep an eye on pets, check in on kids, or just make sure everything is okay while you're away, it gives you a convenient way to stay connected.

The setup was straightforward, and the app experience made controlling the camera simple. Being able to check in remotely and adjust the view makes it much more useful than a basic fixed camera. The ability to follow movement is especially handy when you're trying to keep track of what's happening in a room rather than just staring at one corner.

The picture quality is solid, and having two-way audio adds another layer of usefulness. It feels like a practical home tool rather than just another gadget sitting on a shelf.

I'm very happy with how easy this was to install and use. It's a great option for anyone who wants a little more peace of mind around their home, pets, or family.

The Couch Police

I am going to be honest when I first set up this 4MP WiFi camera I half expected it to be another gadget that promises the world and delivers a blurry picture of my dogs’ tail.. This camera? It is like having a roommate who never sleeps. The human detection of this camera is sharp enough to ignore my cats’ nightly zoomies but still catch me sneaking into the kitchen for a midnight snack.. The motion tracking of this camera. Oh boy. This camera follows you around like it is auditioning for a reality show.

The two-way audio of this camera is where it gets fun. I used it to tell my dog to get off the couch. I swear he looked around like the voice of God had spoken. It is also perfect for yelling "PUT THAT " when someone raids the fridge. Add in the pan and tilt controls of this camera and you can spin it around like you are running a carnival ride.

The night vision of this camera is solid. 30 Feet of clear sight in the dark. Translation: if your house is haunted this camera will be the first to know. The built-in siren of this camera? Let us just say it is loud enough to scare off intruders or, at least make your roommate rethink leaving dishes in the sink.

This camera is NDAA compliant, which sounds like government spy talk but really just means it is legit. Since this camera runs on wired power you do not have to babysit it with batteries.

The bottom line is that this camera is not a camera. This camera is a watchdog, a tattletale and a night-vision ninja rolled into one. If you have ever wanted a gadget that keeps an eye on things while adding a comedy to your day this camera is worth it.

Budget Cam with Built-in AI That Supports WiFi 5

I have been using different indoor and outdoor cams for different purposes, including security and simply monitoring and interacting with my pets while I am not home.

For family-friendly priced wireless cams, they provide 2MP+ resolution, but usually they only support 802.11g on 2.4GHz, while WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 are now widely available and in use. Main internet providers are already providing at least WiFi 6 gateways. It's not just annoying and frustrating. It's actually absurd. How could the camera's feature set not align with current transmission technology?

Now, this AMLINK 4MP WiFi Indoor Cam meets my expectations. For mechanical features, it has pan and tilt, and 2 way audio. For software features, it has human detection, motion tracking, and night vision. Most importantly, it supports 802.11ac WiFi 5.

One thing worth highlighting as well is that even though many compact indoor cams claim to have a human detection AI feature, it often requires connecting to the manufacturer's cloud server, which means there's an extra charge. This item, however, has the feature built directly into the chip, so users won't feel ripped off.

Like many compact indoor cams, you'll need to rely on the manufacturer's ecosystem. You can use a microSD card for local storage, but if you need remote storage, you'll need to subscribe to their service. In case you're wondering, this item doesn’t support RTSP/ONVIF, so no luck for Blue Iris users. However, AMLINK does have other models that support RTSP/ONVIF.

For me, that's fine. I just use it to monitor my pets. I like their funny expressions when I talk to them through the built-in speaker.

Simple little camera

This camera definitely serves its purpose as a basic indoor monitor, especially given how incredibly simple it was to get up and running. After downloading the app and plugging it in, I just hit the search button and it connected instantly, putting a live feed on my screen within minutes. The hardware features a clever pedestal-style design that rotates side-to-side and tilts up and down, and while it includes a wall mount, it sits perfectly fine on a desk or any flat surface. I opted out of the "Pro" version's cloud subscription, but the free app still easily allows me to log in from anywhere to check the live view. However, there are a few distinct downsides: the video quality is lower and less sharp than I expected—though still clear enough to make out faces and see what's happening—and the smart home integration with systems like Alexa or Google Home is lacking. Additionally, the AI tracking software is only mediocre; it follows slow movements just fine, but the second someone runs or moves quickly past, it completely gives up on tracking them. Overall, it isn't perfect, but for a hassle-free, no-subscription setup, it gets the job done.
