Doesn't work with any relatively modern Android device

The app required to update, customize, and use the device is so out of date I can't even download it. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

It caught fire.

We had this in one of our meeting rooms at work. We kept it plugged in 24/7 to use the USB connectivity w/ our Logitech Meet tablet... it was fine for a year+ and then one random weekend it decided explode into a shower to sparks and molten plastic.

There was no warning -- no swollen case or any other signs of issues the week before this happened.

Thank goodness the table it was on was laminate, and that it wasn't near anything flammable. Molten plastic burned holes in the seats of nearby chairs and commercial carpet.

A Must-Have Speakerphone for Remote Meetings

If you spend a lot of time on Zoom or Microsoft Teams calls, this is a must-have. The speaker is loud and crystal clear, and the microphones pick up my voice exceptionally well, even from across the desk.

Setup was quick, Bluetooth connectivity has been reliable, and the controls are intuitive. The compact design makes it easy to move between my home office and travel bag, while the premium build quality gives it a durable, high-end feel.

Whether you're working from home or on the go, this speakerphone delivers excellent call quality and has become an essential part of my workspace. Highly recommended for anyone who attends virtual meetings regularly.

Updated review!

Update 07/29/2024

This speaker has been great! Come to find out, the problem was I had the speaker connected to the docking station when it should be connected directly to my laptop. Over a year and its still working as expected.

I have purchased 2 of these. The same problem with both. Worked fine the first couple of days. Used it no more than 60 minutes a day. By the end of the week they will not last for an hour meeting or recharge. I called CS and there is clearly a defect in this product. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Does work with FaceTime if updated

I’m getting this for a 82 year old man who wants to FaceTime. I got an iPad and set up the Bluetooth to work with the Anker device and plan to keep them both plugged in all the time and ready to use. I took it out of the box and it didn’t work. Well, to be precise it worked like a speaker for music but FaceTime reverted back to the iPad internal speakers and microphone. After some research online I found a statement by Anker to download the app and update the device before using it. Sure enough after updating the device it works great. The card in the box makes it seem like a good idea to use the app but online it says it’s a must or it may not work. It does increase the volume of FaceTime calls considerably so a hard of hearing elderly man will be able to use it.

Excellent Sound Quality, Noise Cancellation & Easy Touch Controls

I am using this product for a couple of months. My Observation

1) Speaker is lightweight and the rubber at the bottom holds it well with the surfaces.

2) Sound Quality and clarity are excellent (Note: This product is not entertainment :) ). The voice from the other end is clear

3) Totally 6 Mics and Mics pickups sound only from a close direction.

4) Volume control and Pickup Control does not work with Microsoft Teams; This is not an issue for me but this issue help me double mute ;)

Overall a good product

Not for FaceTime

I bought this for regular FaceTime video calls with my family. I’ve found myself turning it off at times so I can’t hear what they’re saying because it doesn’t amplify the volume of their voices beyond the original volume at all. I didn’t get to write a review until just now but I also was hoping I’d figure something out on how to get the volume higher but I guess it’s for music only. Only amplified my music. Really hard to give any other feedback since it didn’t work for the one reason I bought it so my only advice is that it doesn’t do ANYTHING to improve the experience of video calls on FaceTime. Wish I could trust another product. Suggestions on replacement would be great!

Great gadget to have!

I have use it for a couple of weeks now. It is great for Web meetings, phone calls, and portable speaker. The multi speaker mode turned on all 6 microphones. It is amazing when I have a small group of people in a conference room for a web meeting. Folks on the web meeting can hear every one in the room clearly. Prior to using the unit, participants were able to anyone who are not sitting close to our polycom speaker phone unit in the conference room.

This is worth the investment. I am using it on all my web meeting now. Loving it.

Loud noise all of a sudden

I’m a little worried as this thing just started making this loud sound in the middle of the day. It was plugged in to my dock for my laptop and bam it just started making the sound.

I have attached the video. I may have gotten a defective item. I’ll have to check with customer service if I encounter this again

Perfect remote microphone for setup with conferencing equipment on other side of room

Ignore other negative reviews regarding poor microphone quality. Sure, it's nowhere near a wired studio-quality microphone, but it's just as good as a webcam or built-in laptop mic. For my setup, I needed this solution because I run virtual meetings on a tv screen with a dedicated PC and webcam on the other side of the room. That way I can sit at my desk and keep my laptop to myself, and the camera points at me as if I'm sitting on the other side of the conference table in a real meeting room. Only challenge I had was that the webcam microphone was too far away to pick up my voice at a quality level, and I didn't want to have wires running across the floor in my office. This ANKER product did the trick, and the audio syncs perfectly with the video. I opted for the product with the additional USB dongle so it's always ready to go, but the bluetooth functionality works just as well. For my particular setup, I use the ANKER for the microphone input, and I run audio output from my TV, but audio from the ANKER works just fine too. This is a must have wireless solution if your conferencing system is not at your desk and you are seeking a wireless microphone which is closer to you.

mic volume is too quite when you pair with iPhone, and I can't control mic vol only

This might be a good product for your laptop or other pairing devices. But when I pair with my iPhone, mic volume is too low compared to built-in speaker volume. iOS does not have ability to control mic volume only. (you can control both mic and speaker at the same time, but cannot do that separately) nor Soundcore app does.

it would've been better if app supports mic volume control.

Skype audio works like a charm!

Exactly what I needed!! New job and new laptop had some weird sound issues. The laptop speakers were rattling on my stand and for whatever reason it was struggling with Skype and the mic was randomly not available. Now I have a seamless setup with clearer mic and sound quality. Very happy with this purchase!

Works Great in mixed-mode settings

We used this in our Sunday School class and it worked great. The sound quality isn't perfect, but what it *does* do is to make sure that everyone talking can be heard on the other side. We had an elderly gentleman teaching our Sunday School class who had a very weak voice, and the PowerConf picked it up perfectly, amplified it, and I think the people on the virtual side was able to hear him more clearly than those in-person! We did several tests with it, and it could pick up ordinary voices on the other side of the classroom. The only time it doesn't work well is when multiple people are talking simultaneously. Other than that, it does a GREAT job of making it so that you don't have to act differently when you are in a mixed-mode setting than when you are in person.

Surprisingly Great!

My opinions are my own and I paid full price for this item.*

I received this gem last week and tried it in my home office. While initial results were mixed, after applying firmware version 26.48 via the Soundcore app, this speakerphone shines. Latest firmware update, paired with the app, gives you the option to tune the 6-array microphone performance to single user (home office) or multiple users (conference room).

I brought this into our conference room today as we planned to have multiple conference calls throughout the day. Normally, most are conducted on a smartphone as a speakerphone with mixed results. We have a Polycom SoundStation 2 in the conference room, but it can be temperamental and we try to avoid using it. Call quality was solid. First comment from our VP once he saw the performance was "We need to get some of those...". Callers on the other end could hear everyone in the room clearly, and we have a large conference room. We used this for multiple hours today and it barely made a dent on the battery capacity

For what this Bluetooth speakerphone is, it punches way above its class. I doubt its $190 competitor justifies the premium up-charge.

Key features included I haven't tried yet;

-Built-in 6700 mAh battery with USB-A outlet. This will charge your phone while you use it. Claimed 24 hour operation is no joke on its own. We used this for 4-5 solid hours today and the battery is still nearly full.

-USB to laptop/PC for audio. If I ever try this feature, I'll update my review on the experience.

-3.5mm jack to output audio to external speakers.

I'm impressed enough solely with its Bluetooth performance to give it the rating I have. Anker impresses yet again!

*Please note* - If you're buying this for music listening, that's not its ideal use. Anker's lowest-end speakers sound better than this device for music playback. This is intended to be a conference speakerphone.

excellent audio quality on conf. call

I will caveat that ive only used the item for one day but out the gate it is knocking my socks off! Image included to show the scale of the item relative to other items on my desk. The audio is very sharp. Im connected through bluetooth to my computer and not noticing any lag with the connection or compromise with audio quality. The buttons are simple and intuitive. This is a great mic/speaker combo for WFH conference calls!

Good personal conferencing system

With COVID-19 pandemic, I've been working from home like many others for the past 2.5 months, earphones heart my ears after a while (not used to them), and laptop's mic sometimes didn't catch the audio legibly, which was pointed out by numerous colleagues at various times. So I started looking for a laptop mic primarily but stumbled upon this, I admire and own numerous Anker products so I decided to go with this one. It works well, feels well constructed and intuitive controls and voice+light feedback on mute etc.

One thing i realized you should download the sound core app from iOS store, and that can upgrade the firmware on this unit, which should help evolve functionality over time. Since purchase, I've already had two firmware updates. Overall does the job in a good package, and comes with a handsome carry case as well if you're a road warrior.

I like it

Ok got this speaker for hands free calling at work. Do maintenance for a gym working on machines and having hands free works great, tried Bluetooth headphones they are alright but like to fall out or snag on stuff.

Battery life is much better the I even expected work is kinda slow now with the everything being closed so used as a speaker most of the day after about 7 hours of use still reading 95% charged and then used it to charge my phone on the way home still over 80%

Sound is good but alittle low on bass but can't complain

The mics are good from what testing I have done and no issue when walking around it for a dead zone

All and all a great product

Great value for the price A++

Very clear sound

Others on my call say it sounds like I am just using my phone and not a speakerphone

Co-worker suggested the Jabra, was not happy with his sound quality on call, so I bought this one.. he has now ordered one.

Excellent for Zoom and WeChat conference meeting

Excellent speaker, in good physical and sound quality.

1. At the bottom, it’s the non-slip design and the size is out of my imagination, so smaller to be portable for travel.

2. As to the sound quality, when hold a conference meeting by zoom or wechat, no echo at all, and the other end could hear me clearly though I’m in more than 5 meters away with the Anker speakerphone.

3. When want to take a break, it’s also excellent to play music via Bluetooth for relaxing.

Awesome!!!

Best Bluetooth Speaker for your Home Office .

The Look

The Anker Powerconf Bluetooth Speaker is aesthetically appealing and looks good on your office table. The build is excellent and the device has an anti-skid bottom, you will not accidentally push it down. When a call comes, the device blinks nice blue light. The speaker shows the blue light when it gets turned on

and also when it automatically shut down.

The Performance

The fast Bluetooth pairing makes the device ready to use in a few seconds. I had some trouble with connecting via Bluetooth to my Windows 10 laptop. The laptop was not recognizing the speaker as an audio output device.

Phone call: The audio that came from the regular call made through the Powereconf was clear. The other side also didn't have any problem with hearing the sound and it was clear.

Conference Call: I made multiple conference call via Webex and the device got connected via USB-C. All the persons in the conference were able to hear the voice without any issues and the sound was sharp and balanced. I walked while talking and the team was able to hear me. One issue I noticed during the conference was, my laptop went sleep due to low battery and when turned on the Webex was running, but the sound came from the laptop even though PowerCOnf was connected to it.

Charge: The PowerConf is still holding charge after my first charge 2 days back. I have used to make calls for at least 4 - 6 hours. It has good battery life.

Addons: One interesting thing I noticed was, the blue LED in the Powerconf will respond to the direction of sound it is capturing from, pretty cool.

Hard Shell Case

USB-C Charger

Additional Port for charging other devices

The Verdict.

I recommend Anker Powerconf Bluetooth Speaker, an addon to your home office.

I will give 4.5 out of 5 stars to Anker Powerconf Bluetooth Speaker.

What it is and isn’t

Before even starting any discussion of this product, and certainly before declaring it the best speakerphone ever made within five minutes after unpacking it - let’s stop and define what it really is. Sorry Anker, I disagree in calling it a speakerphone. A speakerphone is what you have built into practically every phone these days and they are truly really terrible, with a pinhead sized speaker that can barely be heard a few inches away and with a tinny sound quality so bad you could get better results with two tin cans and a string. Why would you want to name your fancy gadget after one of those? So to start off on the right track I’m going to call this device a conference phone, which is generally something separate from your phone that had multiple microphones and large amplified speakers plus a lot of very sophisticated noise reduction, echo cancellation and voice leveling so everyone in the room is heard loud and clear.

NO ONE LIKES CONFERENCE CALLS

I could write a book on attending and hosting conference calls and the hilarious and sometimes not so funny stories that go with them. I’ve been on management calls, client calls and calls with my staff. They always share some things in common like too much noise, people can’t hear and they seem to go on much too long. While nothing can be done about people talking too long devices like this can do wonders for making phone meetings more bearable.

THE CHOICES

Because I’ve hosted hundreds of phone meetings I own several conference microphones, including the top rated Polycon, and I was interested to see how this smaller (and much less expensive) model would stack up. Anker built their reputation on cables and battery chargers and lately has dabbled in everything from audio gear to vacuum cleaners, not always with the greatest success as as they’ve expanded their once enviable customer service has taken a dive. But they hit the sweet spot with this device, with accolades pouring in from nearly every source. Many of them are very respected test sites and I suggest you turn to them for the techie details in addition to the opinions posted in this section.

HOW IT STACKS UP

I want to be clear that this isn’t the best conference speaker I’ve ever used, but Anker doesn’t really say it is, do they. It shines best when used for small team huddles in a typical business office or small meeting room. Remember it is a portable unit - the ones in corporate settings are generally permanently wired in. You can take it out of the included protective travel pouch and have it fully set up in seconds. The battery is built in, rechargeable, and non-replaceable (a downside to consider in my opinion), however it has enough lasting power to even get through my epic never-ending conference calls.

PERFORMANCE

The speaker portion is loud, clear and tuned to make voices easier to understand and for a group of less than ten people it stands among the best models that cost ten times as much. The microphone portion didn’t fare as well. There are actually eight of them and there is a nifty little light that illuminates in the general direction of the person(s) talking. They use a lot of electronic signal processing and unfortunately it doesn’t go unnoticed- participants on the other end reported that sometimes voices had a metallic characteristic to them.

BUILD QUALITY

When you see and touch this device you know it isn’t a toy, it has a feeling of being well made. And it’s small enough to go with you when you travel and have to do team calls in your hotel room.

SUMMARY

Rather than list each pro and con, which often just end up being someone’s opinion, I’ll summarize what the top plus and minus of this product.

PRO: small, easy to use and a million times better than putting your phone on speakerphone, if you ever do that, buy this thing

CON: non-replaceable battery, when it’s time for a team call I need to be 100% positively sure that my equipment works and I can’t trust that a battery may lose its charge. I will say that us offset somewhat by the fact that you can plug this in if you brought the right adapter with you.

RECOMMEND

There are several choices for portable conference speakerphones in the same price category as this one although after discounts this may be the lowest. It comes from an established brand and has a lot of positive press. Ideally something like this should be invisible to the people using it, they should be able to just talk and listen naturally without giving any thought to the gadget on the table. Anker has done a nice job accomplishing that goal and for that reason I like this thing and I recommend it.

Crystal clear!

At home I’m always talking my my phone in speaker mode that way I can do things and move around at the same time.

This was extremely easy to set up and charge. I love the recharging feature because I don’t have to keep this plugged up near an outlet while I’m using it after it’s charged.

Compared to my phones speaker, this is crystal clear! I don’t hear the humming sound as people are talking and they hear me perfectly clear too.

I also tried it while 3 people were in the room and there was no lag time and everyone was crystal clear to the receiver.

Great product!

Great Conference Speaker Phone

I have been using this for a few months and it is so much better than our previous device!

Out previous device had a wired only connection to a PC. The Anker PowerConfernce speaker connects to my Mac, iPhone or PC with Bluetooth or a USB-C cable.

I have it paired with all my devices and when I need it I just turn it on and within seconds it is connected.

It works with our Teams system or any other audio connection as just an audio device. The sound sensing microphones detect when someone is speaking and uses the closest Mic. The lights on the top indicate which is active so you know which audio is being used.

We are about to deploy a few remotes kits for a project and each one will have one of these included.

This is almost perfection. Great sound, easy to use, impressive support.

I've used bluetooth and USB teleconference devices for years and I was really excited to get this in for review. I compared it to the Jabra Speak 510 in a series of different call scenarios.

**update based on newest firmware, available via the Soundcore app**

The GOOD:

-The build quality is excellent. It is easy to pair and doesn't try to hijack your bluetooth like the Jabra does.

-The speaker sound is excellent and has more dynamic range than the Jabra speaker.

-The packaging is top-notch.

-The Battery Life is sufficient for most people.

-Speaker operation is really intuitive and easy to use. Different microphones surrounding the unit light up according to where it hears sound so you can see which voice it's tracking.

The BAD:

-The volume step control does not have enough finite level control. It seems to go up by around 8-10% volume per click so it is either 0% volume or 10%, which can be too much, but you can not give it further fine-tune audio level adjustment. It shares the volume gain structure with your device and does not give more precise volume level control when listening to Apple Music/Spotify or Zoom calls. We often times use the speakerphone in the office for ambient music when not in a call and we can't get it quiet enough for low-volume office background music. The lowest volume setting is too loud.

-The microphones are less sensitive and are quieter than the mics on the Jabra, although still adequate for daily use in small-to-medium sized rooms. You need to stay about an arm's length away from it or closer for the best results.

After a lot of testing, including the new firmware, I am happy to say that Anker entered the teleconferencing market with some work to do but after a few firmware updates, have produced a solid product that I have shared with several other audiovisual professionals who are also very impressed with it's performance.
