Web UI still frustrating

I am learning to avoid this brand. The cameras have good optics and sensors but the software is just incredibly frustrating. I do appreciate that they (in theory) should be able to work on a LAN with basically any software/hardware NVR system. And I appreciate that it has a local web dashboard, no app required (in theory!). And I was able to get it going with a local Frigate install.

But the web app on these is still really bad. It's not as completely unusably slow as an earlier camera I have from Anpviz but it's still fairly unusable. For example, it somehow swallowed the new admin password I set. The UI broke a simple copy/paste of the one I had generated and stored for it, so it's possible mistyped it (twice?). But after I logged back out I've never been able to get back in since. I still at least has user accounts for my NVR server but without a factory reset I won't be able to adminster really anything anymore. I can't find a button and they never replied to my support contact. I spent time opening it up as supposedly some models in this same series have a button INSIDE. But couldn't find anything. I spent more time trying to recover and try different passwords. I spent a ton of time trying to get their (compiled for Windows) network search software working under Linux in a VM but no luck with that yet.

Furthermore, it ran for a week or two and then dropped off the network. Plugging and unplugging the PoE cable didn't bring it back. So now MORE time troubleshooting that will be necessary. Eventually this all turns into literal hours of time, which would be better spent just getting a slightly more expensive brand that doesn't have such unreliable software. Maybe you'll have better luck but I'm 0 for 2 on very frustrating experiences with Anpviz cameras when lots of others from every other NVR-compatible brand have been basically alright, non-issues.

Excellent Quality

Excellent Quality. I love the optical zoom capabilities. Set up was amazingly fast. The camera was preset to DHCP, so I did not have to go through the hassle of changing IP addresses. Once I was in the web interface is was easy to navigate program and discover the features and functionality. I then connected it to my DVR and I am up and running in 10 minutes. Changing the password was simple enough. The one hiccup was figuring out what I was doing wrong when I could not setup the app. Double checking the user's manual provided the answer and now I am good to go. Image quality is very nice. I do wish third party resolution was higher. The live feed in my native DVR is limited to low resolution. The recording is high definition however, It is what matters most anyway. I also wish the manual was larger or the PDF link was on the front page. I was able to find a PDF on the manufacturer's website, thank goodness.

High Quality

Could be great with better software

The good:

- compact size with flexible mounting options

- quiet and speed-adjustable PTZ motion

- rtsp & onvif open standard support for broad compatiblity

- up to THREE streams

- bi-directional audio

- good quality sensor

The bad:

- The mobile app continues to be unusably terrible

- The web access is OK but could be a lot better - it at least works cross-platform

- It's great to see one main stream and two substreams supported, but the configuration options for the substreams in terms of resolution, etc... is VERY limited

Overall, for the price, this is a pretty good camera. I plan to install it into production for use with a Frigate NVR system. It's just too bad that it could be so much better with better software.

Great value dome 4K POE PTZ camera from Anpviz

This is a great 4K POE camera from Anpviz. It's very well made with a solid metal base and I really like the design. It comes with two different brackets so you can mount it either on a ceiling or a wall and mounting / installation is very easy. Configuration is a piece of cake, I just plugged it into our POE switch and looked at the connected devices to find the newly added device IP address, went to that IP and logged in using the default user/pass. The web interface will be very familiar to you if you have used Amcrest cameras (or many other brands) before. I configured this to work with Blue Iris software and it was very easy and the image quality is very good. Overall, I'm very happy with this POE PTZ camera - it's a great value for the price.

Very nice during the day Ok at night

The day time picture is very nice and clear but at night it has this haze to it making it kinda of worthless

I have taken the cover off and cleaned both sides and cleaned the lens it self with no improvement the night picture attached is without the dome on

perfect for my home.night vision are so much better than i excpeted.

This 2K camera is a nice upgrade from the 720p bullet camera I have. It is basically twice the resolution of what I have, making it easy to spot people walking down the sidewalk, watch package deliveries, and spot cars passing by the brand.

The night vision does a better job than the old bullet cameras, perfect for my home surveillance, 2K resolution and night vision better than expected. The video has better, more even edges.

The wide-angle lens on this camera allows me to place the camera under the corner eaves of the house and cover my front door and entire front yard and driveway, but unlike my bullet camera, it has an optical zoom. I can read my house number on the mailbox using optical Zoom.

I love Power over Ethernet (POE)! running a POE cable is as easy as running a power cord, so I highly recommend it.

Excellent POE dome camera with 4x optical zoom!

This is a well built dome camera, and high quality too; I noticed this when I first removed the dome to access the mounting holes and SD card there was a protective film on the inside as well as the outside (as shown in my pictures)!

Important note: you need to pop off the camera head shroud to access the SD card slot, pretty simple with a small screwdriver (keeps it secure and safe from the elements).

This unit also includes audio and alarm I/o connectors. They recommend using “Rubber Mastic Tape” and/or a high quality vinyl electrical tape (like Super 88) to protect the audio in/out & alarm in/out terminals (and others).

Another nice feature included is a threaded plug which can be removed to make connections to PVC conduit super easy. This allows for easy installation in masonry, deck, and even fence applications.

I’ve shared a few images; this camera has excellent resolution in still & video, the optical zoom is very quick to respond (uses PTZ controls) and also quick to auto focus. The image quality is also crisp and clear in dusk and night environments as well.

I am pleased with this high quality camera and can’t wait to add it to my security surveillance system!

Solid 4x optical zoom dome camera

This is a review of the Anpviz 5MP 4x Optical Zoom IP PoE camera. It has a larger diameter base than a comparable 5MP fixed focal-length camera and it's probably an inch taller. It feels very solid and well-made. It has plenty of connection options with four connectors coming out of the back. It has an ethernet network jack that is capable of powering the camera via PoE (Power over Ethernet), a 12v power receptacle, audio I/O, and alarm I/O.

You have to remove the dome to mount the camera. If you intend on using a microSD card, you will want to install it While the dome is removed. The microSD slot is well hidden! You have to remove the smooth black shroud covering the lens assemble, tilt the camera forward (I had to loosen the screw on either side of the lens for it to pivot), then turn the camera around and look at the back of it. There is a small slot where you insert the card. Look at the attached pictures for more detail. The pencil is pointing to the slot. After inserting the microSD card, you can reattach the black shroud. I like how it has a removable screw cap on the side for added flexibility during installation. Once the camera is secured, you can adjust the direction of the lens on three axis. I recommend doing this phone-in-hand to save you trips up and down the ladder.

Dome cameras are a more secure option than bullet cameras. Since the lens is protected by the dome, it cannot be knocked out of alignment, nothing can be hung on it to obscure the view, and it would take a significant effort to physically remove the camera by force. All the while the 5MP sensor is capturing it in clear high definition video.

The picture is very clear and the 4x zoom is amazing. The optical zoom is full resolution from start to finish since the light is still hitting the entire sensor, so even zoomed in to the full 4x you don't lose any picture quality. Of course, you can use digital zoom after that to get in even closer but the picture quality will degrade the farther you zoom. It is slow to focus after zooming in and out. I feel like it should focus faster but there may be something in the configuration that I have not tweaked yet.

I use Blue Iris for all of my cameras, so compatibility is a requirement for any camera. This camera is ONVIF compatible making it very easy to add the camera to Blue Iris. I gave Blue Iris the IP address, user name, and password and it found the camera immediately.

This is a quality, well-built camera.

Bought these cameras and within a week or two, this is how they looked. Contacted the company, they said the cameras were dirty. REALLY, after only one a week??? How come my other cameras AREN’T dirty that I had up for years from a different company??? These cameras are garbage and a waste of money. I would like a refund.

Great camera at a reasonable price.

This Anpviz 6MP PoE IP Dome Camera has great overall versatility and performance, and is a great addition to my home security system. It's really a great camera in my opinion and is on the cutting edge with its daytime and night time picture quality and functionality.

Camera looks and feels like an expensive, high quality camera and functions great. I love that the camera's outer casing, mounting base, and the camera body are all made of strong sturdy metal, and seem to have been built to function in the extreme of conditions and therefore last for a long time.

It was a seamless process to add to my Anpviz NVR and I was able to complete the set-up in a few minutes. Everything for a smooth installation were included. Can also work as stand alone with the guarding vision software.

Camera has great daytime and night time picture quality, not as well as the 8MP camera, but very great and clear viewing non the less. This camera also gives me an extremely wide angle viewing and is well enough for a clear and wide coverage of the section of my premises that it installed at, also great human detection. Great audio quality too (no distortion) ,

My overall assessment:

- high quality camera

- great human detection

- durable and sturdy camera that is built to last

- great picture quality

- excellent sound quality

- easy installation and integration

- great value for price

For the price , I don’t think you can find better.

My company has installed quite a few cameras on this farm. Brands like ring, Lorex, and flir, and I have to say that this camera is my favorite thus far. The quality of the picture, night vision, and build, this cannot be beat. As long as this holds up and stays operational for a long period of time , I would recommend it to anyone looking!

Terrific camera, exceptional value

This is a terrific camera and the value is exceptional. If you are a DIY person like me and use opensource NVR software, this domed gem is a dandy! Easy integration, fantastic clarity, quality clear sound and sturdy construction. They even included some "video surveillance" stickers! =D

Because my NVR supports rules with easy setup config, I did not put the manufacturer software through the paces. I did the basic stuff like downloading the Danale app and viewing the video output through my smartphone. I also confirmed that logging in and viewing the feed through a browser was easy to do. There was no required plugin for me to install, it worked fine right out of the box.

I don’t have PoE running throughout my house so I tested several methods of powering the camera. There is NO 12v power adapter included, but I have plenty of my own which powered the camera fine. I do have a PoE bench switch and it worked just as well. I also used a PoE injector with no problems. All things you would expect but you never know. In the 12v config, I tried using a wireless bridge and was thrilled with the performance.

As for the rugged design and sturdy construction, I’ll take their word for it. I’m not going to try and take a hammer to it but it feels pretty stout.

Fantastic find, highly recommended.

Overall nice camera with RTPS & H264/5/5+ capability.

I really like this camera. The RTPS makes for an easy integration into my system, good clarity, and a more robust UI makes the configuration easier. Mounting was a bit of a pain as the screws were very brittle. I mounted my cameras on pressboard, pre-drilling the hole first, but these screws immediately broke off. Nothing to do with the camera but just a word of warning. RTPS & H264/5/5+ capable.

Note: Red outline in the video is from the software I use and not the camera itself.

Decent Camera Require Careful Planning

This one is among the lowest price 5MP POE camera with optical zoom. The image quality in day time or well lighted area is excellent. Why only three stars? Read on.

Before go into the issues, there are two things about this camera one needs to aware but not factor in the star rating because they were not advertised or even expressly mentioned not to be.

1. While it has optical zoon, it is NOT a PTZ camera. You cam not remotely pan and tilt the lens.

2. It does not have a Micro SD slot to record the video.

The unit is well packaged and well built. The base is made of metal and the top doom is hard plastic that is stronger than I expected. I actually accidentally dropped it to the concert floor with he plastic doom impact the floor and came out with only a small scratch.

While this is POE camera, it also has a 12V DC connector. If one does not have a POE switch handy, using 12 V power adapter is an option. Just beware the AC adapter typically has much shorter length limit compares to POE. 15-20ft is the max length most of those power adapter can support. I have a spare adapter handy so I tried. At 50 ft, the camera was ok seems normal until I try to use the zoom function and the connection became unstable. Below 20ft was all normal with my adapter but YMMV. With POE, 50ft was ok and I did not test it beyond 50ft.

Because this camera does not have PT function, it needs to be manually adjusted when you install the camera and here is the first issue. You have to remove the top plastic doom in order to adjust where the lens points to. To open it up, you need a small allen wrench to unscrew the top three screws. The quick guide said it is included but it was not in the box I received.

Even you have happy with the preset about 45 deg angle, you still need to open the top and then use the supplied screws to mount it (unless you plan it just to place it on top a table of something). The plastic doom top is connected to the base by a ground wire an two red/black reset wires and this is a problem. While the top is not very heavy, the wires are thin too. Imagine mounting this camera 8ft or 10ft high with a doom dangling that may drop any time if the wires break. While you can disconnect the wires first, they are not that easy to reattach them again at 8-10 ft high with small connectors.

In day time or well lighted area, the image quality is excellent and auto focus is fast an accurate. But at nigh time or very dark area, there are a number of issues.

1. While the engineer was careful to use black rubber surround the lens the strong IR can still cause reflection problem as can be seen with the attached picture and can be far worse than that. If you are planning to point it to well lighted area or street, you may be better off to turn off the IR and leave in color mode. The image sensor in this camera is fairly good at low light.

2. If you have been playing with different security cameras for a while, you will noticed there are only a few firmware UI design. This particular firmware module design is NOT very good at low light focus IR or otherwise. It will do focus hunt for a while and end up been out of focus. This problem is compounded if you aim the center of the lens in open space. The firmware is at total lost as to find focus. I have another PTZ camera with different brand name but with the same firmware design, also suffer the same focus hunt problem. My camera came with June or July 2020 firmware (forget to take a picture) that really had a very bad focus hunt issue. Update to firmware to Sep 2020 one improved focus significantly but still lacking compares to other design. To give Anpviz credit, they at least have a web site with firmware available to download, but they probably should source other module provider that can do a better job on low light focusing.

3. While the firmware does offer manual focusing, the web interface has such long latency that made the zooming and focusing very difficult irony, tinyCam can do zoom faster than the web UI. Too bad, tinyCam is not able to adjust the focus.

4. To make matter worse, the firmware engineer left a big security hole in the design! By default, the ONVIF Authentication is OFF! With it off, tinyCam can stream the video with ANY user name and password! To be fair, this is not the only camera with this problem.

5. As for the app, the Danale is of the worst kind. Among the security camera apps, the good ones do not require you to register to use. Not as good but acceptable ones allow you to use as guest without actually register. The worst on like Danale not only require you register, they want to verify it before allow you to use. If you don't want to use cloud, why force you to register to have your email or phone number? I would use tinyCam instead.

Because the camera does not have PT function and has low light focus hunt problem, it is very important to try the position in both day and night time first before you go through the effort to install it only to find out later you need to re-position it to avoid the IR reflection and focusing issues.

If you understand and can live with the limits and plan ahead, then this is affordable optical zoom 5MP camera.

High quality build, really nice video, up-to-date interface.

Setup took about three minutes and my NVR found it immediately after configuration was done. Quick and easy, 100% ONVIF compatible. Plus the interface looks identical to Amcrest's IP cameras, only with more options.

The housing is solid aluminum with obvious attention to detail. Included is a high-end weatherproof coupling with split casket so you can use your existing cable. They also included the hex key to remove the base from the camera for secure mounting. PTZ works flawlessly using ONVIF. Acronyms aside, this is a great camera that has a really easy install - no phone or app required.

Other comments: It uses a 3mm hex key. Once the dome is off you can't just remove it - there's a short bungee cord and two wires for the reset - than makes install a bit more complex. The dome stays attached via the cord, so you're constantly pushing it out of the way (last photo.) It's not pan and tilt, it's fixed. You remove the dome to aim the camera. Zoomed all the way out/wide, this is a wide angle camera. Zoomed in is tight - zooming in and out takes a while though and there's a lag. The zoom is only practical if you're aiming the camera at a door for example. Since you can only zoom in and out, you can only look at one spot - so for snapping a face photo or license plate, it's great. I wish the zoom was snappier.

Ease of Setup and Quality of Image!!!

The first positive feature of this camera was the Auto-Focus.

My business installs many cameras and this was the first Auto-Focus 2.8-12mm camera from this company that replaced a fixed lens 4MP camera from the same camera manufacture.

I can say that upon initial CAT6 hook-up, I had to do no additional focusing because the image was the best. I know that because I tried to adjust it and it wasn't necessary.

The night-vision is spectacular! The image of the yard from where the camera is located to the distance of the outbuilding (hicken-coop) is roughly 102yds, or 306ft. The image at night was taken at 9:00pm. I'm located in the midwest.

I currently have this camera paired with a AMCREST NVR & POE Switch for the camera power. I had to do no additional changes of software configuration to the camera other than change the IP address of the camera.

Camera setup from install to software configuration was less than 30 minutes!

Another great Anpviz camera!

This review is for the Anpviz 5MP IP POE Dome Camera Motorized 4X Optical vari-Focal 2.8~12mm AutoFocus Wide Angle Security Camera Indoor Outdoor Weatherproof Onvif Surveillance Camera #IPC-D250G-4X. Originally, I bought this camera to place outdoors as the camera’s resolution outdoors was phenomenal with its zooming feature. However, regrettably, I ended up installing the camera indoors because of the way my house is built, it is very difficult to run the ethernet wire through the attic in that corner of my house. I am looking to have a professional come out to try to reinstall it outside. I am familiar with the quality of Anpviz cameras because I already own another Anpviz bullet camera. And after two months, the bullet camera is still working perfectly in this hot, humid, and unpredictable Florida weather.

This dome camera is well built and sturdy. The daytime picture resolution is sharp and clear, but I found this camera to have an amazing night vision. Out of all my cameras from different brands, this one exceeds the output of the IR lights in a pitch-black background. The motorized zooming is another great feature. The zooming feature is quiet but it takes a few seconds to focus the picture. Once it focuses, the picture is clear and not pixelated or grainy. I am using this and all my cameras with Blue Iris, which has zoom capabilities and I am able to manually record while zooming in. In all, I am very pleased with this purchase and will be purchasing more from this seller. Goodbye Foscam, hello Anpviz!

Best camera for the price point

I have bought a few cameras now from Anpviz. I am very happy with them and will definitely by more. This one is working with a Amcrest NV4116-HS NVR with a 6tb drive. And I am using a Allied Telesis Poe switch to power cameras. For the price you can’t beat these cameras I like the metal body it feels solid and will last a long time. Will be using for home and business. Camera also works with openeye software. This is my first motorized zoom camera and I was able to control zoom with the Amcrest NVR software. You can’t beat Anpviz cameras just get it one and you will see.
