Awesome Addition to your Comms Bag

This handheld walkie-talkie has been an excellent performer in the field. The audio quality is clear and easy to understand, and the color screen makes navigating settings and channels much more user-friendly than older radios. Setup was straightforward, and it came with everything needed to charge it and start using it right away.

I was especially impressed with the range, maintaining clear communication at roughly two miles even beyond direct line of sight. The ability to monitor two channels at once is a great feature for keeping in touch with different groups without constantly switching frequencies.

For outdoor activities, it's a fantastic fit and would be perfect for Scouting adventures, campouts, hiking trips, or coordinating larger groups. Battery life was also solid, lasting about five hours of continuous use without missing a beat.

Overall, this is a reliable, easy-to-use radio with excellent clarity, useful dual-channel monitoring, and dependable battery performance.

Works well, basic radio with good features.

Decent radio with it limitations. Seems to be durable and usable in most conditions. The handheld radio is smaller in size than I expected and carries some features than are handy. I like the ability to quickly and simply program this radio to frequencies that are used locally and the ability to set my priorities the way I want them.

The ability to scan has turned out to be fun as well. The GPS is a nice feature as is the quick access to weather. It does however have its limitations. Programming via computer seems to work, but takes some getting used to. We were able to program this radio to work with the Motorola system we currently use as well.

The radio comes with the essentials such as cords and belt clips, but also included a handy desktop charge cradle. So far, everything seems to work well.

The display is in full color, easy to read and bright. The keys are backlit for dark operations. All in all, a fair price on a low to mid level radio which serves its purpose and works well.

Good for gmrs and listening to amateur radio

I've been using this for a couple weeks now listening to gmrs and amateur radio in my area. The scan feature was easy to use and got me started right away on finding the active gmrs repeaters in my area. From there it was easy to use the front panel to configure the memories so that I had the ability to use the tones required to get into the system

It's also been easy to switch to vfo mode and tune into my local amateur radio repeaters as well. They also broadcast with tones and it's easy to add those so that it only listens to the ones in my area and interference is limited.

Downside is the menu is a little difficult to get used to coming from other radios. It's not easy to adjust the squelch, so it's a a set it a little higher than you need to. And you're probably going to miss some distance, but I'd rather miss that than be annoyed with it going off too often

Battery is easy to charge with USBC and it includes the charging cable and bass. No charger brick but you probably have several of those around anyway. Battery can be charged independently without you needing the charging stand, which is great. If you are traveling or in your car you can top it up without needing to dock it

Antenna threaded on quite easily and as a standard type that you can replace with aftermarket if you so desire or external like for a car magmount or hard mount

Anytone does it again! Great radio!

So I already have my general class Ham license but wanted something small and compact that doesn’t require a test, so my wife and family has something I can reach them on if cell phones are working.

I have always been a fan of anytone and already run a tri-band in my Jeep so this was naturally a great choice! They’re some of the easiest radios to use! They come with lots of features including APRS and GPS!

Value is on point! Hard to find another radio with the same quality for anywhere near this price!

Battery life is also great across all their handys!

Quality radio, solid price!

Nice GMRS handheld radio with NOAA weather built in.

Although this is sold as a GMRS radio, usually this model is an Amateur radio. I did find a FCC type acceptance on this model. So, this model is a GMRS radio. It is usually a duel band Amateur radio, requiring a ham radio license to legally use it for transmission. The way it comes from the factory it is locked to GMRS frequencies for transmit. It will receive the 2-meter 144 mhz and 440 mhz ham bands, but will not transmit there. This is a newer design with many nice features included like GPS and air band receive. It offers up to 5-watts of output power in the GMRS band and automatically lowers the power on the lower channels, as required on GMRS. Of course you need to pay an application fee of $35 for a call sign and a10 year FCC license. It has VOX for hands free operation and a large 1800 mAh battery.GMRS rules under FCC Part 95 require radios to be type-accepted specifically for GMRS. Even though amateur or commercial dual-band handhelds like the UV-A1 technically can tune to and transmit on GMRS frequencies, using a non-certified radio on GMRS is not FCC compliant. So, it look like this model is GMRS certified. I think It might be switched between models with software. Either unlocked for Amateur radio, or locked with many functions inoperable for GMRS. This uses a Baofeng 2 pin Kenwood type programming cable, which is included, but does not work with Chirp. There is an Anytone programming software used to program it, which is available free from the manufacturer's web site. I like the color display, it is easy to read. Is is a real nice radio and after GMRS channel 30 it goes to the NOAA weather channels 31 through 37. So, it is set as a GMRS radio and of course on channels 1 - 22 it will communicate with license free FRS radios. You would be wise to set the bandwidth to narrow in the menu settings for this application. It comes set to wide for GMRS communications. All FRS radios are narrow bandwith which is not quite as efficient.
