Great product, and easy to use!

So easy to set up, and excellent video quality! I am using the camera to monitor my driveway and my koi pond. I connected with no issues to my home network, as well as my app. I mounted the solar panel just around the corner on the side of the house (gets morning sun), and unit stays charged at 100% every day. I also own the AOSU doorbell, and it works just as well, and both connect to my app.

DO NOT BUY ANY AOSU CAMERAs

One of the WORST camera company’s. DO NOT BUY! Their WARRANTY is absolutely WORTHLESS. They do not stand by their product at all.

I bought a two pack, one failed and would not connect properly, and one had already been installed. I was able to return the non working camera back and received a partial refund.

After 4 months I started having issues with the camera I kept, and now Aosu wont warranty it because they said I had already returned the camera.

Now that camera is also having issues and I have taken it down. They want to give me 50% off another camera to resolve the issue.

NO SIR, you need to stand by your warranty and provide me a new camera!

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA, DEALING WITH THEM IS THE WORSE! THEIR WARRANTY IS HORRIBLE!

And HALF THE TIME, THE APP SUCKS!

Full disclosure

As others have stated there is no mention of having to purchase a plan to have full function of your camera. The seller chooses to make it a hassle to view/clear videos on the SD card and manage the SD card without their plan. According to a pop-up message You cannot delete more than one video at a time plus, you cannot manage the SD card and delete all videos on it as you can, with other companies and other camera systems. If you do choose to purchase cloud with them, the rate jumps up with the more cameras you want to add.

Another thing I don’t like about their system is the throwing of their advertisement at you wanting you to upgrade it confuses the screen. You can turn this off under other settings, which I finally found. Also, in the same area, you can turn off their daily reports function. This is how they give you a recap of all your videos of the day. This is drawing gig usage with my Wi-Fi and Internet connection.

It is not clear on how to manage the SD card, but during set up, make sure you reformat this can delete any data that’s on the card if it is a used memory card, otherwise get yourself a new one.

The high HD quality is good but not as good as other cameras that I have bought in the past. I was expecting very clear images and able to see distant detail. There’s not a zoom function, which is unfortunate unlike other cameras systems. You can zoom by stretching the screen, but that makes the picture muddy. I have another HD camera very similar to this one. You can zoom in and see the grains of sand on the ground.

Don’t get me wrong. The video of this camera is very nice.

Probably the most irritating thing about the camera video screen app is there when you’re viewing a seen live it will rotate off of what you’re watching and I can’t stop it. This has to do probably with the default camera position so if you’re watching something on your screen expect a move away from your view at the most inappropriate time

I am thinking if I delete the default camera position, in which you set during set up, I won’t have that problem. I will check it out but for now they need to change the operating program in this area.

The system loads slowly and has to connect each time you want to view the camera. I have found that it drops often and hast to reload. It also default to the lower viewing optics and you have to go to HD. That seems to have to do with. It’s loading capabilities. Not sure why that is. this has nothing to do with my Wi-Fi connection because it is very strong and I have no problems with anything else on it, which this camera is the only thing running on it. The issue has to do with the camera itself and its ability to load and maintain connection, others, did mention the same

I do like the connection points and they’re all pretty much sealed so Weather does not get in.

If you don’t mind paying an extra fee per camera to fully function as promoted then go with the system.

Installation is very easy, it has nice features package but the videos are lightly jerking for moving object.

Great camera at a great price!

Great outdoor solar powered security camera. Love it! I ended up using tiny screws to mount the solar panel to the top of the camera itself. Let’s see how it holds up with rainy weather.

Very easy install with gutter mount. Excellent features.

I have an aosu 2k solar cam that is great, but it doesn't have pan feature, which I thought would be nice, so when I got the chance to get this 4k SolarCam D1 Max with 360 pan and tilt, I jumped at it.

First off, if you get this cam I highly suggest the Holicfun gutter mount. When I got mine it was only $10, and extremely worth it. Installs in minutes. I have no affiliation with the company, I paid full price for the mount, it's just really easy.

Back to camera: very easy install with gutter mount (pic 1). Comes with everything you need (pic2). Really nice and clear picture (pic3). Really easy to mount, then tap left/right/up/down to get exactly where you want it.

Then beyond that, AI tracking is awesome. So if someone walks down the street, the camera will follow them, recording the clip. Once they're out of range, it resets back to where you set the "home" position. Bonus cool: you can sort all these events later by "pet", "car", "person", etc. So if you're trying to see when a person came, you sort by person, and review. Dog always pooping in your yard, sort by pet. I'm on the free plan, and all these features are free.

Other features: night vision, records audio as well as video, has an alarm, etc.

Solar panel working great so far, always at 100%

Very happy with the unit. I really had no complaints with the 2K, except lack of pan and tilt. But if family/friend asked which one to get only getting one, I would definitely very strongly recommend the D1 Max.

Definitely a high end camera.

I absolutely love AOSU cameras . This camera was very easy to install to the app just added the network and password and scan code. Mounting hardware came with the camera very easy to install the mounting bracket and connect the camera to it. The solar panel is very nice has a usb c type cord . The mounting bracket was also easy to mount to the house . Facing the panel flat towards the sky was the best configuration for our area to recieve east to west sunshine. The camera definitely felt heavy and manufactured from high end parts. Definitely has a high quality. The tracking feature is flawless . I tested the tracking and it follows me when I walk by . Also the microphone feature has a voice changer low pitch deep voice . I set the camera to 60 second record per event . I installed a 32 GB sdcard for recording video and audio. At night time the infared night vision looks great I had to use the smooth function for video because 4k takes to long to load. I am definitely liking the alerts the camera sends to my phone letting me know if someone walks by or lingered. 5 star camera and not to expensive .

Awesome camera that rotates 360°

This Aosu motorized solar cam is perfect add-on to a home that already has some Aosu cameras or even by itself. It just needs some sun or even partial sunlight during the day.

The kit comes with a solar panel that lets you mount the camera in one spot and the solar panel in the best spot to get sunlight to charge the camera. Plus the camera has a slot for an SD card to save your footage locally. No monitoring bill.

Once you mount the camera and panel just use the app to add it or to the base station of the other cameras. I also have some of their 4k cameras with the built in solar panels in my system. I placed this camera above my garage for a wide view up and down my street. It has had great connections and gets fully charged.

The app makes using this with other cameras a breeze. I've used this camera for a few weeks and can say I'm satisfied with it's performance and peace of security it offers. The camera stays charged even on partially cloudy or rainy days. The app even has AI that gives you a brief on what it sees which is helpful if not down right hilarious at times. Made us laugh on several occasions.

The 360° rotation via the app is what makes this stand out. It follows you up and down the street. Rain or shine.

The quality of the captured video is pretty good. I couldn't make out car license plates. But faces show up pretty well. I love the way it tracks you in its field of view. Night vision works pretty good too. And it still tracks as well in the dark.

In conclusion this is a great camera that you can add to an existing Aosu system or keep by itself. I think having two strategically placed would make an awesome security system. All at a price hundreds of dollars cheaper than other setups.

Good quality video with easy setup

This is a quality camera, and took just minutes to set up. No batteries or wiring needed. The usb cable has a cover over it to protect from the weather. The solar panel only needs light for a few hours. The quality of the video is clear and so is the sound. It was upside down but I realized it's because it needs to be mounted upside down. You can subscribe to the recording service, or put in a card to capture locally. Also has teo way talk so you can talk to the kids ir something.

Impressive camera, decent app (except for one thing)

I have a few different Aosu cameras and I’ve being interested in narrowing down exactly what I want to use outside and inside the house.

Inside, I want something simple to place around the house when we travel but battery operated to make it easy and versatile.

Outside, I started with a couple of different fixed positioned cameras, but I decided the to give the Solarcam D1 Max 4K a try due to its exterior antennas (as opposed to being internal) and the range I want to achieve, plus it rotates. That helps eliminates the number of cameras I needed since the house is not a simple square or rectangular shape. Being solar, I don’t need to run power wires everywhere. External antennas should improve the range capabilities compared to an antenna located on an internal board (don't know if that's a correct assumption). “Good” I thought since I also wanted to place some around an outbuilding located a distance away on the property (~200 ft.).

The camera is nicely packed. With the D1, the solar is mounted separately from the antenna. That is appreciated since where I want to place the camera gets a lot of shade, it gives me options. Assembly was easy, as was the solar panel mount and the camera mount. The camera can be removed from the mount if needed. Interestingly, a LED is located on the camera’s USB cable where it connects to the solar panel and indicates charging, at least when charging for the first time via USB. Having the ability to rotate the camera and track objects is a big plus in my book.

Spotting motion works exceptionally well, tracking us as we walked by. Just estimating, but it likely tracked me for a good 50’ (estimated) of distance.

IR night vision is amazing (see attached photo), as in the motion tracking, it is probably ~50’ (estimated). Color Night Vision utilizes IR when there’s no motion, switching to white light when motion is detected.

Image quality is excellent, but I have no way of verify if it is 4K or not. I’m not too particular about resolution above High Definition, I just want to spot wildlife or a burglar.

The solar panel has maintained a 100% charge, but I suspect it might struggle when the leaves fill up the trees (I’ll move it to a better location then).

The app allows for a multitude of settings that can be changed, almost too many. Thankfully, the defaults take the leg work out setting all of them. One nice feature is a WiFi signal strength indicator to aid in placement. I’m current at a 62% signal level (Aosu recommends a minimum of 50%) which is a little low but understandable give its location on the back side of the outbuilding. But at 62%, I don’t have any connection issues.

You can view ‘Live’, ‘Events’, ‘Truesight’. TrueSight, which is an AI assisted event viewer, is not available unless you have homeCortex hub. Unfortunately, with this camera, I have not found a way to dismiss the upcharge option to use aosuProtect+, keeping me from using the local TrueSignt option. The local storage option (and TrueSight because of the homeCortex hub) with no subscription needed, was the reason I ordered the aosu equipment. I find TrueSight somewhat useful since I search events for all the cameras all at once, unlike ‘Events’. In ‘Events’, you can still search (i.e. person, pet, etc.), just not all the cameras at once (a fail in my book).

In the end, 4 stars. One star downgraded for the TrueSight problem. Aside from that, it is an impressive camera, even more so when paired with a home Cortex hub. The Solarcam D1 Max 4K ranks near to the top of my Aosu cameras (a tie for 1st or maybe a 2nd place). The Solacam D1 Max 4K a big step up for the Aosu CL7 camera I ordered. The evaluation period was over several weeks.

Easy to setup, no subscription needed, flexible placement of solar panel.

That Aosu camera line has something for every need. This is a single unit which can be added to a home base if you want to increase your coverage or use as a stand-alone unit. Note: if you are using it as a stand-alone unit, you do need to purchase a micro-SD card to record events. Alternatively, you can join the Aosu cloud subscription. With the micro-SD card, that is not necessary; however, as a stand-alone unit, if the camera is taken, the SD card goes with it. (And advantage to having a home base or using the subscription.)

The camera has a 360 view and is easily controlled using the Aosu phone app. It also tracks very well. The app is intuitive and allows you to view events, download them or delete them as appropriate. Setup is very easy. Simply turn the camera on, scan the code to connect it to the app and then connect it to your internet. After that, it just a matter of adjusting the settings in the app for your preference.

All hardware is included and is very easy to install. Once you mount the clip, the camera slips on until it clicks in place. Check the views with the app, set the default and you are done. This unit has a detached solar panel which comes with a very long cord for greater flexibility. We have been very impressed with these solar panels and their efficiency. Although 6 hours of sun is recommended, we have installed them in areas with less and they have worked well and stayed at 100% charge. The connector for the solar panel is very clever and ensures that the connection will stay tight and secure.

The pictures on these cameras are impressive, even on zoom. It could not be easier to download an event which saves right to your phone gallery. The night vision is also amazing. We have one camera installed in a pitch-black basement with just one small nightlight and the picture is very clear and sharp. It is also very easy to share the camera with family via an email from the app. Once they download the app and accept the link, they have access to any camera you share. Another great feature is the microphone. Not only does it record volume, but it allows you to talk to people as clearly as if you were on the phone. This has saved us several times with technicians on site. This is our 10th Aosu security camera, and we would not consider using any other brand.

Top notch fully wireless 4 k security camera, well built!

My pros and cons on this new outside wireless 4k security camera: Pros: Download the app first ,Its a highly versatile camera utilizing 360 degree turns if needed. The tilt up position is a bit limited due to its upper housing but tilt down position points all the way down below to the ground. The view is well defined and absolutely clear even on zoom. It has all the bells and whistles of a high end camera such as microphone, siren, light, tracking, alarm, a voice alert and calibration setting. The sensitivity is great along with being able to use a micro SD card class10 128 gb .It appears to have good battery life but place it in a southwest direction if possible for full sun light to charge the battery. Cons I don't care for the advertisements in the app along with asking to take out a cloud subscription that's a minus in my opinion. This gem is well worth the value because you get a lot of camera for the price. I would recommend! The solar panel and camera are easy to set up. It runs on a 2.4 ghz network only.

Aosu is the best

I love AOSU products. Anybody that knows me knows I'm a huge fan of their cameras. This one is unique because it has an alarm built in as well as a motion-activated spotlight. It's made with high quality, like all their other cameras, and I strongly recommend it, especially if you need to have the spotlight option. You're not going to find another one like this.

Customers Support.

I’ve had this camera for over a year now. I’ve had an issue where the camera would just act up like it’s sensing movements but it actually was not. It would connect to WiFi for a few seconds and then it would disconnect. I talked to Aosu’s customer support named Julie… she assisted me in the next few day's at a time and she helped me replace the camera after analyzing that the camera malfunctioned. She sent me a replacement and came within 2 days (3-6-26) right after she said that it was on its way. I am very happy with her support. Way to go Julie. I really appreciate your time and help. Thank you very much again.

Awesome Customer Service!

I had a small issue with one of my cameras not being able to charge. After trying all the troubleshooting suggestions, I contacted AOSU customer service & they were fantastic! They checked on my order & agreed there may be in issue with that unit & immediately shipped me replacement cameras. I could not be more impressed with Julie & her support team in handling my issue.

Does not work.

I purchased this camera with high hopes, but I am extremely disappointed. The product lasted only two weeks before it stopped working properly. It’s supposed to be solar-powered, yet it completely fails to charge in the sun. After just two weeks of use, I had to take it down and charge it with a USB cable because the solar charging is useless. This defeats the whole purpose of buying a solar camera. I would not recommend this product to anyone, as it does not deliver on its promises and is a huge inconvenience.

Exelent sevurity camera-clear video & easy set up

Here’s a good security

I am very satisfied with this security camera. The image quality is very clear, both during the day and at night, and the audio works perfectly. The installation was quick and easy, and the mobile app is very user-friendly.

I really like that it sends real-time notifications when motion is detected, which gives me peace of mind. The connection is stable, and so far I haven’t had any issues.

I definitely recommend it for home or business use. Great value for the price.

Lack of customer support

I tried returning these they wouldn’t return them. I called customer support because it was not connecting to my WiFi. No matter how many times and what they’ve told me to do, it doesn’t budge. They refuse to let return this item. If it was cheap I wouldn’t care but $200.00 plus tax is a lot of money to not care.

Everyone is struggling to get by, except you

Good overall but AI motion detector does not work at night

===== JULY 21, 2025 ===== 2 stars

Returned prior cameras and new ones were the same:

1. Zero events recorded at night (very bad AI night detection)

2. Zero events recorded during day. This was somewhat addressed by going to Detection Settings > Adjust Automatically (turn off). Then adjust manually and the events by be triggered.

3. (NEW issue) Full sun for weeks but one camera is struggling at 15% charge while recording ZERO events during the day (and shows it's charging). The other one is at 100%. Both solar panels are in full sun (while cameras are in shade to protect them). The solar panels are about 10ft apart from each other.

Keeping it at 2 stars. Should be lower but the tech is nice when it works. Too bad. Could've been a great product with better software.

===== JULY 2, 2025 ===== 2 stars

Returned the last set. New set is no different than when first set was new: detects motion during day but not at night.

Also install a 16"x16" board above both cameras to protect them from heat and rain. The last pair experienced around 85F during the day and stopped working after 3 weeks.

Bumping to 2 stars because the new set works. But longevity is questionable.

===== JUNE 28, 2025 ===== 1 star

Zero events recorded today, and it's almost 10am (see images). Plenty of neighbors have walked by. I have walked by both cameras.

===== JUNE 27, 2025 ===== 1 star

JUNK. 3 weeks later Both cameras stopped recording events. When it was brand new, it didn't record events at night (8pm to 6am) but I could live with that.

I usually get 15-20 events per day. Today, one camera had 2 and the other had 5 events. I went out to do jumping jacks in front of both and neither of them recorded the event. Then, our car drove down the driveway. Only 1 camera captured the event.

Not sure why it has regressed. Disappointed.

===== JUNE 4, 2025 ===== 4 stars

Note: I kept reading that Aosu records 24/7 on 128GB miroSD card <== this is somewhat true. It only records when it detects motion, but the AI motion detection is not 100% perfect. When motion is triggered, it usually records 30-60 seconds of video. I have 10 wyze cameras and they actually record 24/7 nonstop.

There are benefits to both. Aosu allows it to record on a microSD card with less storage and stores the video clips over a longer period of time. Wyze captures everything but you can only go back 1 to 3 weeks, depending on microSD storage size.

Great:

1. Wifi range: One camera is 30-35 ft from wifi satellite and connects every time. (Other one is 20 ft away)

2. Video quality: Can see people and vehicles (and license plate 40-50 ft away) during day

3. AI detection: Detects motion, people, vehicles ... very few false detection (plants, trees) during day

Poor:

At night: AI does not work at night apparently. There's a streetlight across the street from the cameras and that's not bright enough. I mostly see video clips from 6:30am to 7:30pm -- sunrise to sunset -- once in a while I'll see a clip at 4am due to a branch moving. Our street is less active a night but I expect to have 3-5 detections per hour. Most days, it's ZERO detections the whole night (7:30pm to 6:30am).

Always says loading doesn't work most the time

Updated review 12/30/2024

Aosu reached out to me after having issues and had me try some diagnostic steps which didn't help. After that they offered a refund or to send me 2 different style security cameras so I gave them another chance and they sent me 2 different security cameras to try and I had them in 2 days. Hooked them up and so far I haven't had any issues. If any issues arrive I will update my review. I am very pleased with their customer service though they went above and beyond, they sent 3 emails trying to contact me to resolve this issue until I finally seen the email in my spam folder.

Original Review

I suggest buying a different brand. Cameras have perfect wifi signal but always just says (loading slow switch to smooth mode) so I click switch and just says loading still and returns to same message (slow loading switch to smooth mode) i will be taking these down and sending them back for a refund. Very disappointed having wasted a cpl hrs to install all these cameras.
