APC 1000VA/600W Pro UPS Battery Backup for Office Electronics, AVR, BX1000M | Back-UPS
This unit has been solid for my home office setup so far. It kicked in instantly during a recent power blip and kept my desktop, monitor, and router running long enough to save my work and shut down cleanly. The AVR feature handles brownouts smoothly without draining the battery. Setup was plug-and-play no software fuss needed for basic use. Quiet operation, sturdy build, and reliable peace of mind. Highly recommend for anyone protecting office electronics from outages and surges. Display is clear and easy to use. Also like the mute button in the front. Power plug is convinient and sideways to allow access to other outlet on the wall.

Waste of money
The unit died within about 8 months or less. Never got to really use it. The one that was $100 less still works. Lesson learned.

A review after using 8 years
I bought the 1000va one $97 in 2017. I think it's completely malfunctional in 2025. When it's turned on now, it errors out with high pitch noise. The screenshot of the panel looks like the attached. Overall, the UPS leaves me enough time shutting down PC during a power outtage a couple of times. So far I think it's a great purchase.

Doesn't work.
Item won't power up after installing battery lead and charging for a week. They offer me solutions that don't work and want me to call product support. How about sending another unit instead of making me jump through hoops.

Power UPS with great features
I have fiber internet so I still have connectivity when the power is out as long as my modem and router have power. With this UPS I'm able to power my modem, switch, router and smart home hub for nearly three hours. I also love the displayed time feature that let's you know how long you have left on the battery.

Power backup for Security cameras and internet
I use this for Power backup for Security cameras and the internet. Wanted to know the power draw of the unit to keep the UPS going over and above the load but can't seem to find it in the data. I measured 3 watts once the battery is charged but it would have been better to measure the power with my "P3 kill a watt" for a few days as the UPS may go through cycles. With my Security cameras and the internet connected to the UPS I was able to cut the input power with no glitches in my Security cameras and the internet. In the attached picture we see the output AC waveform on top with AC input power on and on the bottom with the loss of AC power using a X10 probe voltage is 50v per division. It would be interesting to capture the transition from AC power to backup power on an oscilloscope might try it someday

A must have!
This unit has saved me while working on my professional digital art work during foul weather. It stopped me from losing power to my computer just the other day while I was mid edit in Photoshop! The other backup unit kept my internet on too! Also, since hooking my computer up to this thing my finicky but brilliant monitor no longer has a hard time turning back on! Many electronics need a perfect 120v power conditioned hookup to work correctly. My monitor used to display static fuzz frequently when plugged into the wall. No more! It works flawlessly now that it has an OCD power source! This thing is great!!!

Faulty APC BackUPS 1000 - Would not switch from battery power to mains power!!
Bought this APC BackUPS 1000 for a client's Small Form Factor PC. The UPS would not switch from battery power to mains power, when plugged into the 110V mains supply...Straight out of the box!!!
Had the unit and battery tested, and it turns out this BackUPS was faulty. The battery passed the test though and was not found to be faulty.
Had to supply client with a replacement UPS...out of pocket...as a gesture of goodwill.

VERY POORLY DESIGNED
1/ The battery takes up less than 1/3 of this box. So why did they make that box so HUGE?
2/ They have this large box with all that space on top, but somehow decided to stack 8outlets, 3 data ports and 2 coax cable connectors all on the small back panel. Not only do the plug-ins unnecessarily add to the already enormous length of that box, but the outlets are so close together than ONE power adapter covers the outlets on either side, so I can't use them!
And if I can only use 2 0f the 4 battery-backup outlets, I don't need this big a UPS!
Poorly designed indeed.
I'll be sending this back.

Don't forget to connect the battery!
Originally I thought I got a unit with a dead battery but it turns out they just ship these with the battery disconnected internally (presumably to retain battery life). You have to open up the battery compartment and connect the spade connector to the battery terminal before plugging in the unit. It's working great now, and I've tested it. It keeps my 3D printer running and printing for about 15-20 minutes after power is disconnected.

the plugs are too close together for modern power plugs
the plugs on the back of the UPS are too close together for modern power plugs. i had to plug a power bar into the UPS so the plugs in the photo for my Linksys and router could run. i could not plug both into the UPS side even though there are 4 receptacles. true most are designed this way but they are living in a past world. i have to return it.

Loose metal inside the case?! Failed after less than half a month
I received the item and immediately upon removing it from the box it sounded like there was something rattling around inside, ao I popped it open and this chunk of metal fell out, thank god I hadn't plugged in the battery yet or it may have destroyed the whole thing, or worse, caused a fire by short circuiting one of the boards. It gets 2 starts because it does seem to at least do the job once the metal was removed.
EDIT: dropped review to one star after the thing failed in the middle of the night and started screeching, no matter what I've done to try and fix it, it doesn't work.

Poor battery life after 8 months
Overall, works as advertised. Battery life is suspect. After 8 months, I get 3 of 5 bars when the power goes out. The pic taken is within 30 seconds of the power going out. The minimal load is a CentruyLink modem.

Does the job
There are a couple things that annoyed me slightly:
- The lights on the front are very bright and never turn off. They will make a dark room significantly lighter. I put a little masking tape over them and that helped a lot, but I don't understand why they would need to be so bright to begin with.
- It makes a quiet high-pitched noise, particularly when the battery is charging. The cord is quite long so I put it as far away from my desk as possible and now it's not very noticeable.
That said, when the power goes off it can keep my computer running for about 30 minutes, and by shutting it down sooner than that I'm able to use it to charge phones and such during the outage. I was pleasantly surprised by how long it lasts. So generally I'm pretty happy with it, but I do think there's room for improvement.

Works with my Playstation 5 and Xbox One X
I have my 43” 4k TV hooked up onto this and my PS5/Xbox One X. With my TV and one console running and the other in sleep mode I get 15+ mins of run time. It gets the job done enough for me to turn off the consoles and TV.

Works, BUT Misleading “Pro” product line
First of all, I received exactly what is sold here.
The “new” APC Back-UPS Pro (model BX1000M) is a far inferior product to the original version. This product is smaller and has a smaller battery which is a lower run time. I would not even consider it a “Pro” version since the device and the box it came in do not have the “Pro” label. Attached are some pictures to compare the older vs the new model. You can clearly see the difference.
I have purchased the real original APC Back-UPS Pro (model BR1000G) in 2011 and still in use as of today.
This is not a bad product, I purchased it to power my PoE switch for DVR cameras, the smaller size works for what I plan to keep the PoE switch and DVR. I’m just a bit disappointed in that I did not get as good of a product as I thought it would have been. I want to bring this misleading labeling to the attention of the manufacture and any customers that was looking for the older version.

Died after only 2+ weeks
My APC BX1000M started wailing (continuous tone) and smelling like something electrical fried. I shut down my Dell XPS 8930 desktop PC and unplugged it and the two monitors from the back of the BX1000M. The tone would not stop until I unplugged the APC UPS unit from the wall.
When I engaged APC (Schneider Electric) technical support, they wanted me to take out the battery and go through a long list of diagnostic tests.

Good capacity in a compact unit
This 1000VA model is enough capacity to keep my cable modem, Cisco router, and separate firewall/router (three devices) up on battery for about 60 minutes (despite my picture - the screen shows an estimation only). Your results will vary, but being that this unit requires only one battery, it's a great model for lower-draw equipment such as WiFi routers, modems, cordless phones, etc, but doesn't carry the cost of replacing two batteries every three years like the bigger models.
I don't use the Windows-only features, but the on-board computer allows you to mute the alarm, as well as check for previous electrical "incidents", input/output voltage, etc.
It's fairly light - again, one battery helps this - and easy to set-up.
