useless.

I dislike negative reviews. IT flickers horribly and messes with lightburn or any video I make. basically useless. I cannot make this work: 50hz 60hz, different resolutions. more light less light, white surface, tried USB 2 and 3, I tried on the laptop(i9 with 32GB ram) and desktop(32core, 265GB ram). Windows camera app, vlc with the anti flicker on. even tried on my other laptop with Ubuntu. nope.

Good small 16MP camera

What you get:

• a camera module that identifies itself over USB as "ID 0c40:0292 ELMCU Arducam-219-8MP-HDR"

• 3ft USB-A cable

The camera is indeed plug and play. For me it worked fine with VLC on a Mac in 1920x1080. With qv4l2 on Linux it would only preview in 640x480 but with some custom software I was able to persuade it to do 16MP 4656x3496/10fps as documented, despite it naming itself over USB as 8MP. Using the v4l2 API I was able to control pretty much everything I wanted. The form factor of this camera is ideal for compact situations such as monitoring a 3D printer.

The camera is mounted in a black metal case that can pivot 360˚. The base has a threaded 1/4in hole as well as slots for screws. Since it's autofocus, the lens is non-interchangeable. The autofocus is fairly reliable and you can turn it off in software if you want to avoid it wandering.

Great for Lightburn

I bought this camera for Lightburn. It doesn't come with a case, but the image makes that clear. I just whipped one up with my 3D printer, and presto!

It has great image quality, and it's plug-and-play.

Crappy camera that's always out-of-focus

The focus, autofocus, and white balance on this camera sucks. Especially at moderate to short distances. For some reason autofocus consistently focuses on the lower left portion of the image. The attached images with the instructions are taken from 7" and 12" and had a custom white balancing applied. The memory stick is with the default white balancing on the same background.

Crappy camera that's always out-of-focus

Does not focus evenly throughout the entire image. The following images are taken ~7" and 12" and portions of the instruction are out of focus along with the white balance.

Indoor pictures are absolutely impossible even in normal daylight and an external lighting source!

The above picture was captured in broad daylight next to a window with an additional light source next to the bottle. This camera was completely unable to capture the image and its ability to focus was next to none! Total waste of money! I'll be returning it ASAP!
