The cameras are great and the quality of the picture is clear but unfortunately I tried to sign up for a monthly membership and I was told they do not service Puerto Rico which is where I live. So i have to figure out how to have the cameras record, not just show me real time live footage.

I kicked out my Apple Home Kit and replaced it with Arlo. I'm pretty impressed with how easy it was to unbox and connect my set of three Ultras to my network, and get them up and running. The picture quality on the 4k cameras is excellent. The batteries onboard each camera are long-lasting and easy to recharge. Don't hesitate to get yourself a set of Ultras!

First, be warned that unless you subscribe to their monthly service, the whole purpose of the cameras is basically worthless and there is no tech support to help you with other issues, which there are plenty.
Yes, you can record to a local micro card but that stops recording after a few days and you need to constantly reset the cameras to get it recording again. AND just know that you cannot see any recordings on the local drive when you are outside your home WIFI. So, if you were away on vacation or just outside the home, you cannot see any recordings. Arlo claims you can adjust settings to allow for it but it also warns you that you open yourself up to hackers to can easily then access your network too.
My husband wanted to be able to access the system also on his phone, but Arlo is having "technical difficulties" that they are aware of that doesn't allow a 2nd user to access the cameras. Yeah, they are working on it (I guess)
In addition... after one chat session, I got the message that I am no longer "entitled" to chat support. and there is no phone support.
The clarity on the recordings is good, not spectacular and it will start recording about 5-8 seconds AFTER the person appears in view of the camera. Thus, I can see how easily it would be for a porch pirate to run up to the house, steal packages and leave before the Arlo ever decides to start capturing anything.
So I was left with a useless expensive equipment. Returning.

If you Look at the photo close the metal ball is rusted already. It’s been about eight months since it was installed. I think that’s cheesy I thought it was stainless steel I guess I’m an idiot I don’t know why the Chinese can’t make a decent product.

I recently purchased the 3 camera ultra package. When I received the package, the outside has a sticker that says "Arlo certified refurbished." I opened the box and all the the packaging was thrown in the box, and the cameras and packaging are all very dirty. I will be returning this item.

The cameras themselves are adequate. Night time makes them nearly useless. With rain it is a crapshoot. Unless the wind is blowing from behind the cameras water on the lenses make them absolutely useless. We have seven of these that we use to watch over our rural property. We have dedicated one camera, mounted at bumper height, immediately adjacent to the driveway specifically to record license plates. This was simply beyond the camera’s ability so that camera was relocated to watch a section of the yard where the grandkids frequently play. The cameras claim to be “off Line” about a third of the time and are often unusable because they claim to be “updating their firmware”. We paid more for this system due to the high ratings they garnered but we also use 3 other systems, all of which do their jobs better than the Arlo system. Would I buy this brand again? No. There are better cameras and systems out there for less money with, at least as subpar support if not better.

My photos are zoomed in 2x - this is in broad daylight. The cameras are plugged in, less than 10ft from the base station, and worse quality than my 3 year old 1080p Arlo. Absolutely the biggest ripoff ever. There is no way on God’s green earth these are even remotely close to 4K. My iPhone takes video that is 1000x better than this, so why is it so hard to make a security camera that actually works? Furthermore, I have one on my driveway that literally only records the last 30sec of a vehicle being there, if it catches it at all. I bought these for security, but there is no chance you could ever catch anyone doing anything worth recording. Complete trash and will be replaced with my 10yr old IP cameras that actually work.

$600 Arlo was sold as new and clearly has been used. One of the base has yellow discoloration. Very obvious when it’s next to the same parts which is whiter but not white like new
