Short Cables
Very very short cords, 1 ft, same as the cheapo $20 ones. Should've saved $20 and got one of them, quality seems about the same

Great quality, easy to set up
I'm so happy with this purchase. I have all 720 episodes of Naruto + 11 movies all on DVD, and I've been wanting to watch them while I play on my gaming PC but my PC doesn't have a DVD disc drive. This allows me to watch Naruto while I play games or do work!! So happy! It is very very easy to set up :)

Faulty product
Brand new item and does not eject when pressing the button or via right-clicking on the CD-ROM and selecting “Eject”. Had to use the emergency eject function and trying to get a refund. Not impressed.

Perfect for my MacBook Pro!
I’ve always wanted an external DVD and CD player for my MacBook Pro, and this one was surprisingly easy to use. It didn’t require any installation of drivers, which was a huge plus. The readability was also quite fast when ripping CDs to iTunes or watching movies on DVDs.
As a tip for MacBook Pro users, I recommend using the Y cable and plugging it into a USB hub (sold separately and shown in the first photo, but it doesn’t need to be the same brand as mine). This will ensure that you have enough power, as the USB-C port that they provided you didn’t provide enough power. If you’re using the external drive, it may not appear in the utility disk or Finder. However, simply inserting a disc will make it appear as the disc’s name. To eject the drive, you can press the eject symbol in Finder or the Apple Music app (if you’re ripping a CD).

Works well with Windows 11 PC
I gave my sister a computer with a newer computer case. Newer cases do not generally have drive bays like they use to so you can use a internal cd/dvd player. Thus, we needed an external drive to play dvds and also burn data from cds/dvds to the computer and back.
This Asus model has worked perfect for all of that. It has not gotten a lot of use but has worked fine when it did. It is relatively quiet, and while not nearly as fast as something like an external ssd, it is still fairly quick. It is left unplugged on top of my sis's desk and only gets plugged in if she is using it.
It seems of good quality and is a very reasonable price. It has solved the issue on not having an internal cd/dvd drive, and sis can use it on any computer, and myself also if I need to borrow it. This portability I think makes it a better option anyway than an internal one.
So no cons. We both like it and it has worked well.

So far it works well with my Mac
On the positive side - it worked well with my mini Mac. It was straightforward - I connected it through the USB-C port, and it worked without needing to install anything. It's also very small, and I appreciate its simplicity.
On the negative side, the package was not in the best condition. The box was slightly broken, and it seemed it had been wet with some soapy substance because it showed water marks and tiny soap bubbles on the external drive. It also seemed stained from the incident. I considered returning it, but I kept it since it worked well. The last thing - because it's so small, it's flimsy. The whole structure moves when you put in or take out a disc.
One last note: When I tried to play a DVD, it had those awful region restrictions. I disabled the Apple video player as the default and started using VLC, and all my DVDs work.

Excellent DVD drive
I decided to spend a few more dollars and buy an Asus drive. I have other Asus devices and they seem to last forever. It is lightweight, fast, plug and play with awesome software.

So then I can take it anywhere
I love this drive. I can take it anywhere. It is so thin. I paid a little more for this model, but I'm glad that I did. I paid a little less for wine at a big department chain. I hooked it up and it crashed my laptop. I guess that was a blessing in disguise now I have this wonderful Asus.
