Best Level 2 Charger I’ve Used – Worth Every Dollar!!!!

I just purchased the Autel MaxiCharger 80 Amp stands out immediately. The biggest difference is the power, this thing charges noticeably faster than most units out there. If you have the setup to support 80A, it’s a game changer.

The build quality is solid and feels more commercial-grade than the typical plastic chargers you see. Setup was straightforward, and the app is actually useful (not clunky like some competitors). Scheduling and tracking charging is simple.

Set up was very easy, the app process is also amazing.

And it looks good!!!

Super fast charging and a real workhorse.

I upgraded from a 50A charger to this 80a Autel unit and the difference is noticeable right away. Charging my 2026 Cadillac IQ is much faster and more consistent, especially overnight. The build quality feels solid and the install was straightforward for my electrician. Setup in the app was quick and everything connected without issues. Was able to activate and use the charger within about 20 mins. Overall it’s been reliable and does exactly what I needed it to do. When my friends come over they always ask to use it. One tip i can give is read the manual. I tried to do it without reading and kinda got stuck. But it has a breakdown which helped a bunch.

FAILED & BAD SUPPORT

Don’t buy this device it’s Jan 10, 2026.

Their Support team is awful. My charger won’t ACTIVATE.

Support is asking me for irrelevant questions such as

- gauge of electrical wire

- make and model of my vehicle

-proof of purchase See images I am a real customer.

I’ll be uninstalling it and sending back both the AUTEL Charger and AUTEL mounting pedestal. Should had gone with the charge point instead.

100% charge everyday!

Sweet charger !! ⚡️ lvl2 charging is simply a game changer. This charger truly makes EV ownership worthwhile. Great build quality. Great value and easy to setup with sleek design with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity !

(Not electrical advice) Im using some PVC conduit , 6 gauge wires, 60 amp breaker, set the charger dial to “5” and drawing 48amp’s to the vehicle.

Good until it isn't.

It's all good until it isn't. Unit worked great for 5 months than had a relay issue. I tried calling the support number only to sit on hold for over an hour. I used the app the chat with a rep only to have him reply every 2 hours. The end user experience is enough to make not recommend this product.

When it's working it's okay. It disconnects from wfi alot then you have to relink it back to the system. The app is horrible and looks like a 3rd grade put it together. No real data to see and when trying to check statuses of the charge its not correct. Personally don't buy this buy the emporium which works flawlessly and gives you complete feedback on all the data and pricing per kw so you know how much it costing to charge at home. You can also setup tables .this is junk. Recap when it's working it's okay not great.

Easy installation and configuration

The charger was very easy to set up and install for my Ford Mustang Mach e 50amp hardware wired configuration.

A must for EV owners

This has made a world of difference for us. Charges quickly, getting us from 20 to 80% (desired range) while we relax at night. Easy to use, and piece of mind for commuting car. Works well in our 2 car garage where the EV is parked on the far side, but reaches easily with no hassle plugging in.

Fast charger

The best car charger. Fast level 2 charger. Long, 25 feet charging hose.

There was only one issue that it had to be connected to the Ethernet port for the firmware update after it was installed on the outside wall. So I had to run long Ethernet cable from my router to the charger. After the firmware was updated then I was able to connect the charger to the Wi-Fi.

But this is a excellent car charger up to 50 amps. One of the features I enjoy the most is the ability to adjust and change the amps and power while the car is charging. Perfect for users on solar power. We set it to max amps during full sun, and you can adjust the amps using the app to lower as you are generating less power from the sun. The support is also excellent. Remember to keep a copy of the PIN code listed, because if you get a new phone you will need it for the app.

Detached holster with easily adjustable amperage

Because the holster is detached from main body, there is greater flexibility with the install which allowed us to run the cord under a deck to where our cars are parked. App is decent and allows changing from 50A downward to suit home wiring or charging capacity of a particular vehicle. So far we are very pleased.

Black Friday offer exceeded my expectations

I got this unit to charge my EQE at home during winter. Electrician installed in 2 hours, Setup was easy, everything works as a charm. I typically use chargepoint at the office, which has some lag after ending charge. Autel app is reliable, solid and very responsive. Amazing ROI if you are able to catch a sale, look for instant coupons.

Not everything is as it appears nor advertised. Autel Customer Service lack product knowledge!

I did like the ease of installation. I also liked the construction of the unit, plenty of space to handle 6 awg wire within the connection compartment. Connecting the app was a breeze as well. However, not everything is as it appears nor advertised. One key gripe is that the units' max charging rate is 7.4 -7.6 kw (major issue). Based on the installation hardware (70A breaker) and specifications, it should be yielding 12kw according to product specifications. Car charge rate acceptance is 19kw at level 2 according to manufacturer. I would be happy with the 12kw that they promise/advertise. Unfortunately, calling the Autel 5 times thus far has resulted in zero progress. Their support staff(though very nice) need more product training including product specifications and limitations. After speaking with 3 different people, I am no where closer to a solution accept for replacing the Autel product with a different product. The app! Simple and basic app at best. Why is it, that the app doesn't show total battery % status and how much time it takes to full. Am I missing something here? Why do I have to open the car app for that information? The only request that I may consider wishful is that the app should include a max preferred charge percentage - for those that top off at a specific percentage. I paid the $599 for Autel MaxiCharger Elite and yes I want to get what I paid for, hence my overall rating.

Charger blew up

Had the charger for 4 weeks. Installed by a licensed electrician. Blew off my wall and killed the power to my house. Costs me a lot to fix. They will not even respond to my cocnern. Take it off the wall if you have one!!! Horrible customer service

Fast Charging

I’m very happy with this Autel EV charger. It’s great quality. It’s made from a very high-quality ABS type of plastic. It’s heavy duty and it really looks good. It was very easy for my electrician to install. It comes with everything you need to attach it to the wall. It has a proprietary mounting screw. That makes it nearly impossible to steal when it’s attached to the mounting bracket on a wall. This keeps it very secure. I really like this. The LED screen on it is very bright and easy to read. It comes with a heavy duty 25 foot charging cable that is very good quality. The J1722 connector is great quality and connects right to my EV without a problem. I have this set to charge at 40 A and it does with vigor. I love that this has an app and you can monitor your car and its current level of charge from the app. It makes it very easy. Very intuitve and with plenty of flexible options that cater to your needs.

The number one reason I bought the Autel Maxicharger was its ability to lock/unlock using an RFID card. I mounted my charger on my driveway so it was open to the public and I needed a way to prevent just anyone to pull into my driveway and charge their EV, the Autel Maxicharger allowed me to use my Clipper card that I use to ride the train as an RFID card to lock/unlock my EV charger!

The Autel Maxicharger has numerous flexible options, like adjustable charge current, charge time scheduling so you can charge during the day if you have solar panels, it's a very good EV charging options, I highly recommend it!

Great charger with a horrific cable

Overall this is a good charger so I'm going to keep it.

The main issue is the wire, it really, really sucks. It's very rigid and has a lot of memory so you will feel like you are handling a very heavy version of these old fashion phone wires.

The second issue is that the "hardwire" installation isn't designed to go on top of a J-box. So the wires are visible in the 1/4" gap between the wall and the charger. I'm not sure how to do this better. It's even kinda hard to get the charger to cover the entire J-box because the mounting rack takes all the space at the center of the charger.

On the plus side, it has an Ethernet option which is great for garages where the wifi signal might be weak. I really like the option to have holster older detached from the unit. I love the RFID option as my garage might be shared in the future.

This is a new construction so I've not had a chance to connect it to the wifi yet so I don't know yet about the smart features.

So yeah, It's a decent unit, probably 4 starts if plugged in because it would resolve my hard-wiring issue.

No customer support / Update

Contacted company and they said they would respond within 24 hours, it has now been 2 weeks and not a word. The unit works fine but is missing some parts. / got a response and they shipped out a whole new unit because they did not have replacement parts. They went the extra mile to fix a small problem.

I love these Autel chargers

First, let me say that Autel sent me this unit for evaluation. Second, let me say that I already use an Autel EV charging station at home for my Chevy Bolt.

These charging stations are fantastic! They are built very well, both inside and out. These are the home version of Autel's public charging stations. They only lack the touch screen and cellular communication hardware. You can even still use RFID cards with these if you want to keep track of each user.

This is a 50 amp unit, which must be hard wired to take advantage of the full charge rate. You could easily adapt this to be a plug in unit by simply turning down the internal amp limit switch. The one I use at home is a 40 amp model, but it is on a 40 amp circuit, so I have it turned down to 32 amps max to stay pithing the 80% safety margin.

The unit is completely weather proof. Mine live's on a pedestal beside my driveway. This particular unit has the separate charge handle holster/cord hanger. They also have models where the charge handle plugs into the main unit itself when not in use, and the cord wraps around the main unit. The charge handle holster is very robust. Like the main unit, there is a metal bracket that attaches to the wall, then the holster attaches securely to that bracket.

Autel's smart phone app is wonderful. It allows you to monitor line voltage, amperage, kilowatts, kilowatt hours, and graphs of all this data. It keeps track of charging cost as well. You can change the charging amperage anywhere between 6 amps and the full 50 amps, but it will not exceed whatever you have set on the unit itself for the maximum amperage. So, if you are connecting this to a 30 amp circuit like a clothes dryer would be on, you can set the unit to a max of 24 amps (again, for the 80% safety margin), and then the app will let you change it between 6 and 24 amps at 1 amp increments. You can also set a charging schedule within the app.

I have had nothing but good experiences with these Autel charging stations, and I have dealt with many other brands. This is now the brand I recommend to most people.

Great charger with ok app

I had a chance to see the Autel product lineup at NAIAS and decided to purchase it after speaking with their team. Charger was installed 2 weeks ago and has been functioning very well. Had to take one star of for the app, which feels very raw, e especially outdated EV catalog. Overall, it's a great value for the money and seems to be very well built.

Looks good, hope it works well too.

Selection criterion: safety and manufacturer. I like the fact that the charger has passed the necessary tests and meets safety standards.

The product looks very good and the kit has everything you need to connect, except for the cable that needs to be laid from the connection point to the charger.

I have not yet been able to test this device, but the description of it and the application that works with it gives me hope that it will be conveniently simple and fast. I hope so.

After I receive permission from the apartments to install the device, I will definitely add a photo and a review about the operation of the device and the application that works with it.

At the moment, the charger is installed and I have had two sessions of charging my Tesla Model X. What I want to add:

- absolutely satisfied with the device; - I can set the current strength and it will affect the charge rate;

- I set the current strength to 46A and the charge goes at a speed of 35 ~ 40 miles / hour and it suits me;

- I want to consult about 50A and it will increase the charge rate.

So far I am not very satisfied with the application:

- it is informative, simple and very understandable, but unfortunately after two charging sessions it did not save any information at all. I'm waiting for a response from the manufacturer and later I will add a review.

A beast of a home charger - very well built

I was doing okay with a portable charger since my vehicle (Chevy Volt Gen1) has a small-ish battery to today's standards (16 kWH or so). I'm liking the Volt well enough that I can see another EV for my wife or an upgrade for me in the future. This charger seems to be ready for anything. What I really like about it for my case is that the maximum charge amps can be selected with a physical switch at the time of installation. With this switch set, the app will not let the charging amps go above the physical setting. This allows the charger to match the home wiring and breaker rating.

I was impressed from opening the box. The packaging is well done and very effective. No worries about the shipper damaging this thing. The charge cable is massive, especially compared the portable charger I was using. At my location we don't have time-of-day power rates, but being able to control when the charge happens is a big benefit if you do have TOD rates. I am an experienced DIYer with electrical and installed this myself. It was very straightforward. The instructions are adequate, but written with the assumption that the installer has some experience. It connected to my phone via Bluetooth and I had it on my wifi within just a couple of minutes. The companion phone app is well-done and has had no issues for me.

The mounting bracket is solid, the holster is very will constructed and the charge plug/handle is a very nice heavy-duty feeling rubber. The entire thing gives a lot of confidence. When plugged in I can hear the "negotiation" taking place between the car and charger. There is an audible click in the charger as the relay kicks in and shortly after the car chirps the horn to indicate charging started. Just a nice unit that's capable of delivering enough current to charge anything currently on the market.

A great Lev2 charger, make sure you notice hardwire installation

*Note – Not only does this use 240V (like a dryer outlet), but THIS version is also designed for hardwire installation, so it does NOT come with a 240V plug either. There is a space on the left side where you could install a power cord with plug and then plug it in to a 240V outlet, but just keep in mind you can’t just plug this in right away as is. Either professional electrician installation, or some previous electrical knowledge would be advisable.

This is a nice EV charger, with a useful app to provide extra information. Even though I was already using a 240V charger, this one seems to charge even faster. It is working well so far, very fast and reliable, but I will update this review if there are any issues in the future.

I just got my Autel MaxiCharger and can't wait to share this awesome product to someone who looking for an awesome car charger. Autel MaxiCharger has a very cool app and high-technology. This was easy to setup and works excellent! I like the design too and look nice on my place. When I received this, it taken time for me to see this product because there are three boxes protecting this item.

Quality built and smart charger

I was looking for an outdoor level 2 EV charger for my EV. There were a lot of options but I was trying to look for the best value one. I found Autel is easy to install and will work with my dryer outlet in the garage. The App is amazing. I can remotely control my charging and saving the electricity bill during peak hours. The app can change the charging power even work with the low amp breaker. The app is also keep upgrading with new function and giving customer better user experience.
