Super easy to install and use

With a huge demand for video cameras and recorders, I had to wait a bit for back orders to settle before I finally got an updated video cam. The wait was rewarded with this little guy. It was super easy to install. It gets frequent use with Zoom meetings and has only failed with user error.

So disappointed. It only last 2 months. Software/graphic failed

I was glad to see AVerMedia expanding their market to US. But, what a shame. It started getting issue after just 2 months and I only use this to video chat with my parents during the weekend... so ~ 10 times usage? it starting failing the image like I showed here. So disappointed. It works fine using AVermedia RECental, but can't use it in Skype, Zoom, Line, etc... @AVerMedia please improve.

Disappointment. Oversaturated - too much blue and red. Software on Mac is junk.

I was very disappointed with this hardware.

The camera looks stylish, but that's where it ends. The slide is plastic, even though in the marketing images it is made to look like brushed aluminum. This is a very good analogy for the camera as a whole. If you don't have anything, this might be an OK stand-in - but everything about it screams it should retail for less than thirty bucks.

* The image from the camera sensor is blown-out. The hardware defaults for saturation and contrast are WAY too high causing brown hair to appear like a solid black mass atop one's head. Any pink/redness in your face shows on camera as though you have rosacea, and I have naturally olive skin so that was a surprise! Lots of details in darker colors are immediately lost because contrast is dialed up to compensate for poor quality image sensors. See image and guess which one is a built-in webcam on a 4 year old laptop. Larger image is from a cheap camera included in a 4 year old Mac, but it is truer to life than AVer Media by a mile.

Note the navy blue suit is completely blacked-out, lacking any form or detail in the image from the AVer Media cam. You cannot even see the tag. Also note that the AVer Media image shifts from normally colored to being blue/green around the edges, a sign of poor color balance and lack of effort in calibrating the image sensor.

What it does to your face, especially if you have dark brown hair or eyes is quite similar. You end up with what might as well be a flat black construction paper cut-out in the outline of your hair and bright red lips.

* So, people have said they can adjust the settings with RECCentral. I tried it on Mac, and was deeply dismayed. Aside from having to spend 10 minutes just to get the package to launch without crashing, I found no settings got contrast or saturation. Lots of silly bunny ears and things written in Chinese. It had the feel of video editing software I used 20 years ago, with text that was visibly blurry and unintuitive icons and menus.

* The camera does not turn off when you slide the shutter closed, and simply continues recording audio and the inside of the camera shutter for everyone on the other end. Beware if you think this will mute when you activate the privacy shutter!

I hope you'll only consider this as a last resort.

Great camera for starting out Streaming.

If you or someone you know is looking into Streaming, this is a great starter camera. The price is perfect, the 360 swivel is great for trying to find a nice place to set it up and the privacy filter is a much needed feature! Camera sets up easily and can connect to you favorite broadcast tools!
