New favorite radio, good job Baofeng. Awesome

Purchased a month ago and have it fully loaded with channels and use almost every day. No issues at all and even had some fun with it. Definitely recommend and hope more people get this radio. Good job Baofeng.

Heavy duty radio with long battery life, USB charging and at a great price

This radio is the analog only cousin to the Baofeng DM-32UV, which looks virtually identical but also includes DMR (digital radio) capabilities. It’s a capable radio that delivers decent sound, is easy to use, and is very rugged, although due to its extended battery, it’s also quite a brick reminiscent of Motorola “PacSets” that I carried in the 1980s!

Key features include 10 watts PEP output (about twice the advertised output of most handheld amateur radios), GPS receiver (useful if you want to use APRS to track or share your location and send messages between radios), NOAA weather reception and alerts, AM/FM broadcast radio reception, USB-C charging and weather/water/dust resistance. It also has a very nice color screen and isn’t too hard to program via the keypad, although it’s also easily programmed using free Chirp software.

The radio also comes with a “cage” that you can attach to your belt or a backpack, which the radio slides easily into, plus a desk charger and USB power adapter. Oddly, even though it’s programmable via Chirp, a USB interface cable wasn’t included (and the USB-C port is only for charging). Fortunately, any 2-pin Baofeng data cable, which are cheap and easy to find, will work.

One big drawback is the battery, which at 2500 mAH provides plenty of runtime, but cannot be easily swapped out as it requires loosening a flat-head screw to remove / install. Curious design choice.

Baofeng also advertises that the radio can be “easily programmed via Bluetooth” but this isn’t exactly true. You can close specific frequencies from certain Baofeng radios, but only one at a time and it’s fairly cantankerous, so I don’t ever use that capability.

All in all, this is a lot of radio for that price. It’s built like a tank and will run for a long time on a charge, and can easily survive being exposed to the elements. In addition to the included flexible antenna, it can also be attached to an external or extended antenna (note that Baofeng uses reverse SMA connectors, so be sure to order the right type).

Highly Impressed

This is a very good radio for the price. I have my ham license and am able to talk on 2, 1.25, and 70cm with no issues hitting many repeaters from my home. Programming was easy with chirp.

Great Purchase

I am so fantastically satisfied with this radio. It has been a pleasure to use, to program, to receive and transmit. It has amazing transmission and receiving qualities. It even has access to some bands that are outside of its type approval. It could be improved by adding a Bluetooth PTT switch and Bluetooth access to my Apple AirPods.

Let the buyer be aware

Be carful with this supplier, I received my UV-32 used as others had reviewed in recent reviews, the transmit worked ok but the reciever was dead as a door knob after programing with chirp for local repeaters. Returning.

BAOFENG UV32

Great radio just a little bulky but it works perfectly. Made contact on a repeater crystal clear sound. Great price. Will be buying another one soon.

Good cheap radio

Arrived well packed and in good shape. Works good so far.

The add shows 2 antenna, but mine only came with one.

The instruction book has very small print, but it is useful. Plenty of instructions online as well. Time will tell how it will hold up, but feels pretty solid.

UV32 quality and affordability

The UV 32 is a great radio great sound and gets good report on its sound when talking to others. For the money, you cannot beat the radio. I own two and will probably end up getting a few more for some family members. easy to program with the Bluetooth app or from the face of the radio. Both of my radio do 9 1/2 to 10 Watts depending on what frequency. The build of the radio and quality is solid. It feels like a Motorola radio in your hand at 1/10 of the cost. You won’t be disappointed 73’s

It's a beast yay!

It's a beast of a radio that's what I was looking for in the picture. It's next to a TidRadio H8 and a H3.

I think I need a couple more of different colors for my collection

Great radio for solid communication

Only had it for a few days. But works really well for a radio in this price point. No complaints. Charges fast via the usb jack on the battery. Stick antenna performance is not to bad. Great transmit audio and receive audio is loud and full.

Uv32 is awesome

The UV 32 is a very good radio. Great quality and made to last. I have good report on a signal from locals and the quality of the speaker is really good. I’m sure I’ll be purchasing another one and I would recommend this radio.

For the money, I'll give it 4 stars.

For the money it is a nice addition to the GO kit. I can hit 2 repeaters north and south of me, 15 to 17 miles away. Put it on a monitor; frequency error was <20 hz, TX power was 8 to 10 across both bands, TX modulation 4 khz. Receiver sensitivity .19 uV. It has 3 power settings at 4, 8, 10W. The battery lasted all day being on and keying up frequently. The air band works OK, but don't believe it is on AM. The display is unreadable in sunlight. I like the zones you can create. For the money, I'll give it 4 stars.

Slight Baofeng upgrade

I have several different models of Baofeng's. Overall I am impressed with the value they offer at their price point. Are there better radios out there? Yes. Are they exponentially more costly? Yes. Do you get exponentially better radio experience with that cost? For me, the answer is no.

Having said that, this is the best feeling Baofeng I have. The first "quality" enhancement I noticed with this radio versus others I own is ruggedness. There are subtle changes that I noticed, like the battery is secured with a screwed onto the radio instead of utilizing spring loaded latches. I feel like if the radio gets dropped, my radio battery will not shoot across the floor. There is also no belt clip, or attachment point to add one. Instead, you must use some sort of holster or pouch for this radio (one included), so there is not clip to break off. Because there is not a clip attached to the back, the speaker has been relocated from the usual front position to the back of the radio, and conversely the charging contacts are swapped to the front instead of their regular rear position. Although the screen display is decent, I feel like Baofeng missed an opportunity to upgrade the size of the screen. I would have liked a larger screen, and there is some real estate to accommodate one. The screen seems to be the same one utilized on many of my other Baofeng's. The difference is that on some of my radios the screen is oriented in a portrait position and others turned in a landscape format.

As far a performance, the battery life is good, and as always I am a fan of the USB-C charging, although there is also an included charging base. The VFO mode is easy to switch back and forth, and programming is easy using CHIRP. I believe you need to select the UV-17Pro. The GPS function provides basic location info, and GPS reception is pretty solid. Transmission is good with the provided antenna on 70cm/2m. I am fortunate to have many solid repeaters in my area, so I haven't stretched out the legs of this 10w radio. I still need to test out the 1.25m band. In my experience, the included antenna usually is not tuned well for 220. Overall I like this radio. It is heavier than most of my other radios, but to me that extra weight adds to its rugged feel. I like the security of a pouch or holster compared to a flimsy clip and with the GPS data, this is probably going to be my go to radio when heading to the woods. I keep eyeballing "better" more expensive radios, but for what I use them for and how I used them, this price point offers a lot without having to worry too much about losing or damaging it when outdoors.

Decent radio

You had one Baofeng then you had them all. If you learned how to use the uv5r you will know how to program this in in a matter of seconds. Radio is fully unlocked(Ham, GMRS) it can also transmit on 1.25m but those supplied antennas will not work. Nice color screen, battery lasts a long while, pretty loud. Decent power output for a hand held. You can program that one with chirp using 17proGps profile. GPS will show you your coordinates but thats all, no APRS. Radio has a memory banks (100 channels per bank). You can charge that radio via usb-c or wia supplied craddle. They shipped lanyard that you can't attach to anything, radio has no belt clip but came with carry pouch. This baofeng is tall comparing to H8, H3 or uv5r. Not bad for of a radio to use around camsite or while beeing outdoors.

Ham Radio

This ham radio comes with rechargeable battery with type c connector so you can charge it from a desktop charger or power bank. It also has AM and FM reception. LED flashlight. This is great in an emergency because it has a built in weather forecast system.
