Expensive light but worth it.

Okay this is one of those things that I wanted because I seen it in all the cool desk setup videos but never pulled the trigger. I only got it because I thought it might make it easier on my eyes during the work day. What a difference. Pretty expensive light but the remote that comes with it is very nice and easy to turn to dial in the setting for light brightness and temp.

100% worth the money!

Really love this thing! I got a bedroom with no light, this is my light! Quality is amazing and so is the color control options! Also love having the ability to dim as needed and I have noticed absolutely 0 flickering. Stability is also great, I have this on top of my 32” OLED and it’s perfectly stable! Battery life has also not been an issue so far either, I charged the thing once and it’s held that charge for probably atleast a week. The best feature would be the motion sensor, I use that to get dressed early in the morning when my room has no light. The main selling point though would be avoiding eye strain, that was a serious problem for me until I got one of these.

Great Lifhting Tool for Professionals

This started out kind of a mess as a previous person returned just the webcam accessory which is only what they sent. Thank you it’s beautiful

dww, one of many

pawning used junk as new

bought a new benq halo 2 led light bar, in the box was zero packaging other than a box full of paper towels and the items freely moving in this box.. definitely used with paper towel fuzz all over the items.

Finally worth it

Finally worth it. Bought similar ones in the past, not sure if this brand or not, but in any case this one is worth buying and keeping.

Excellent!

Perfect! I have been staring at computer displays for decades. Finally I have discovered a solution for eye strain. I am using this with an Apple 27 inch Studio monitor, the middle of which is slightly above eye level. The light bar is about ten inches higher. Despite this, the LEDs are perfectly shielded from my eyes.. The light output on my desk is bright and even, without any glare on the screen or in my eyes. I no longer need any other desk light. I love it!

Fits fine on 32'' MSI MPG 321CURX Curved OLED monitor, eye-fatigue begone!

I am so impressed with this product. I've been looking for something to address my eye fatigue and it turns out poor lighting affects it a lot. I'm so glad this thing exists.

I currently use a 4K MSI 32'' OLED MPG 321CURX monitor.

I barely notice any glare either. The asymmetry really does work. I recommend toying with the brightness and see what works for you.

I use 4000K temp during the day, and 3000 at night. You can only set 1 favorite preset unfortunately, but you can technically have "2" when you consider Auto-Dim auto sets it to 4000K and brightness based on your surroundings, which is considered a "neutral" color, optimal for work.

Then for the evening, you can set a favorite preset of 3000 for a warmer color.

It also comes with a webcam mount you can attach.

The remote is wireless and very sleek and cool.

Highly recommend anyone who works from home to get this.

Best lamp for the true office glow up

I purchased my first Ben Q a few years ago and loved it. However, this one is a true game changer. If you want to purchase something that changes the look of your entire space, look no further. I love it so much I bought a second for my home office a few weeks later. You can change the color temp and brightness and the backward facing light is amazing. I love Ben Q products and this one was not a disappointment.

Sleek, Practical Upgrade for Night Setup

This light bar has been a great addition to my 32” curved 4K monitor setup. What impressed me most is the adjustability and how well it fits without interfering with the screen.

The brightness adjustment is smooth and precise — I can fine-tune it from very subtle desk glow to bright task lighting. The adjustable color temperature is equally useful. I keep it on a warmer tone at night to match my bias lighting, and it blends perfectly without creating harsh contrast.

Fit-wise, it sits securely on top of my curved monitor without wobbling or sliding. The counterweight design balances well and doesn’t block any part of the display. No glare or reflection issues either — the asymmetric light distribution keeps illumination on the desk, not in my eyes.

Assembly was straightforward. It was essentially plug-and-play — attach the weighted mount, place it on top of the monitor, connect USB power, and it’s ready. No tools required, no complicated setup.

Overall, it feels thoughtfully engineered — clean look, stable fit, and very easy to dial in for comfort.

Good product. Clamp needs work though.

The product is excellent, and the light distribution is impeccable. It lives up to the hype. I gave it 4 stars because of the steep price and the monitor mechanism. However, once you overcome the price, it’s definitely worth it.

When installing the lightbar, I quickly noticed that it didn’t clamp onto my monitor effectively. I’ve encountered this issue before with my webcam, but as you can see in the photos, there’s an awkward bulge on the back of my monitor. This bulge makes it difficult for the clamp to attach properly. Consequently, the clamp slips and shifts its position over time, resulting in an awkward angle. Despite this, the lightbar still shines well on to my desk and avoids having reflections on my display. Looks just as intended. It looks good and works quite well even with my oddly shaped 38-inch Alienware monitor. I highly recommend it to others.

Monitor Light

Beautiful, well-made light bar for your computer monitor (or just a desk light). Remote control light options control. Looks and works fantastic. Turns on and off on its own motion and timer control.

Quality product

I’m not a programmer or gamer and don’t own high-end gear, but I bought the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 because I often work late. So far it’s been excellent: setup was simple, build quality feels premium, and it doesn’t block my webcam. The backlight is very useful for reducing eye strain, and the presence-detection works flawlessly. Highly recommended for late-night work.

Outrageously expensive but would buy again

Big fan of this item. Recently moved my computer desk into a closet and light has been a struggle. This light bar has been incredibly useful. It has two lights, one that points down, one that lights up behind your monitor. You can use each light in tandem or separately. Includes a usb-c scrolling puck style remote that is smooth and can change the light output and color for both lights, have automatic functions, save a favorite setting, among other things. The bar can sense when you're nearby and light up automatically. On top of that, includes an optional plastic piece to mount a webcam to the top of it. Love this thing.

Nice upgrade, good lighting

I purchased the ScreenBar Halo 2 for my partner after owning the previous model myself for over a year, and it continues to be one of the best upgrades for a desk setup. The build quality is excellent and the design is very clean, sitting securely on top of the monitor without taking up any actual desk space. It provides plenty of brightness, which makes a huge difference for eye strain during long hours of work.

The wireless controller is a nice touch and keeps the workspace looking minimal, though it does take a little bit of time to get used to. I sometimes find it a bit challenging to toggle between the front light and the back ambient light or to dial in the exact brightness levels, but I suspect that is more down to user error than a flaw with the hardware. Once you get the hang of the touch interface, it becomes much easier to manage.

Overall, this is a very satisfying product that feels premium and does exactly what it is supposed to do. If you want a high-quality light that doesn't clutter your desk or cause screen glare, this is a great choice. Having used one for a long time now, I can say it holds up well and remains a reliable part of my daily routine.

Very good, but pricey

Even half brightness gives more light than competitors at max. So, basically there's no other option if you need to brighten your room

Best Monitor Light Ever!

Best quality! The light can fit with a video camera on it. It can automatically turn on and off with a motion sensor and a light sensor. I love the back light, and I also have the option to turn it on or off. The adjustment of light temperature is very intricate, and it can even be suitable for professional shooting. It's worth any penny. The weight is just the right weight.

I am going to make more purchase from Benq!

A product I didn't understand I needed until I had it.

Very strong light that nearly justifies its hefty price tag.

Pros: amazing coverage: size ratio. Even at a large desk, I only need 1 to cover the entire frontal surface area.

The back does a good job of illuminating under the monitor it's on but that's about it.

Cons: the remote. While the build quality feels premium, the adjustment knob is very cumbersome when trying to achieve specific brightness. It's also annoying to adjust both lights brightness to different levels. It gets the job done but for a 200$ (after tax) light, it should be more intuitive and less cumbersome.

Love it but the price…

Ok so here is the thing I truly want to justify the amount they’re charging for this light and truly I do not know but it’s amazing you’re getting what you’re paying for in a way… still is just a light you might not need it but if you can get it you’re not gonna regret it the aesthetic that brings to your set up is amazing no doubt about it and it’s truly the best monitor light you can get that a 100%

also comparing it with the pro version the other one from benq this one the halo 2 is way brighter,

so if you have some extra cash to level up your set up, go for it I was hesitant but I kinda love it right now .

As good as it gets.

Not cheap but worth every penny. I do a lot of graphic design and photography work. The glare used to drive me crazy. No more eye strain. Easy to set up, extremely well made. I love how it has a motion sensor that turns it on and off.

Worth every penny to me. :)

Thoroughly impressed with this device. I read through all of the reviews before buying, including negative, and can say my experience has been completely positive. I love the backlighting, though I wish it projected further down behind my monitor. The front lighting is great and can easily be positioned to light up my desktop, but minimal glare on the screen itself.

The puck is brilliant. It's easy and intuitive to dial in brightness, color temperature and front/back lighting. I haven't experienced any of the touch issues on the controller that others have. It takes just a like tap to select a setting and it's easy to save a favorite setting via the <3 button via a long press. I've had no issue with it waking up when I sit down at my desk. Perhaps it's been more of a positioning issue for others? Mine lives just above my trackpad and I've yet to have it not turn on the light when I sit down at my workstation.

It does fit nicely on my 27" Apple Studio Display. I like the clamp design because it sits up there lightly, balances well, but doesn't exert much force on the screen. The build quality appears to be excellent. The light housing and puck are made from aluminum. The puck is nicely weighted and it rotates very smoothly.

Despite the cost, I feel this was a very worthwhile upgrade to my studio.

Update 11/8/25: I mistakenly thought the sensor to turn the light on was in the puck. However, that wouldn’t have made sense. The sensor is in the arm underneath the light bar, facing the user. That said, it continues to work flawlessly and I’m still very pleased.

My favorite feature has become the “favorite” button (go figure). I can adjust the lighting to whatever I’d like at the time, but can immediately revert to my preferred setting for editing photos.

Versatile monitor light

Quite versatile monitor light, love the wireless controller. I was also able to easily mount the camera using the additional attachment provided. For my use case I have been using this as an alternative to a ring light for occasional video calls.

Day 1 - The Light Won't Turn On Right Out of the Box

I had such high hopes for this BenQ Halo 2 monitor light, but it won't even turn on! After unboxing, I first charged the remote to green, as directed by the instructions. I carefully set up the light on top of my iMac, anticipating a mind blowing experience worthy of my $180. The remote was green and fully charged 1 hour later. I plugged in the power supply, and turned the switch to On underneath the remote. I pressed the Power button. The Power button blinked white several times. THE MONITOR LIGHT DID NOT TURN ON. I tried all the buttons - same thing, double white blink of the Power button and nothing else. The monitor light will not turn on, no matter what I do. Freaking incredible! BenQ's online troubleshooting manual is no help at all. I'm so glad this happened on Day 1, instead of a few months in, when I can no longer return this thing and I'd be out $180. Needless to say, this is a Day 2 return. Something that costs this much should be perfect out of the box and WORKING! I also noticed that the newly-designed clamp that keeps the light on top of the iMac is rather unstable, like the light could fall off if I nudged my desk or tilted my monitor the wrong way. The light is also centimeters closer to the right side of my screen than it is to the left side - aka it's built asymmetrical. And it's quite noticeable. That would bug the crap out of me long term. If the light were $40, it wouldn't bug as much, but $180! Come on, BenQ. Get your act together. This is unacceptable.

Best monitor light bar money can buy

Edit: After using it for a few days, I noticed some smudges on the controller screen. If you’re like me and tend to have sweaty hands, just be aware that it can leave marks.

I was very hesitant to buy this at first, but after a few years I finally went for the BenQ Halo light bar and I don’t regret it one bit. Everything about this light bar is excellent: the build quality, brightness, features, and how easy it is to install. The only downside is that the wireless controller doesn’t come with a USB-C cable for charging. It’s a small thing, but at this price point it really should have been included.

I have a 34 inch 800R curved monitor and the light bar fits perfectly. Unlike some others, it doesn’t press hard against the screen. It just lightly rests on it. I also really like that it comes with a webcam accessory. Installation is super simple. Just peel off the adhesive backing and attach it to the top of the light bar.

The wireless controller is easy to use and stays firmly in place while adjusting settings, which is a nice touch. I highly recommend upgrading to this light bar.

Well designed controls and sleek look.

A photographer friend recommended this light to me so I decided to give it a try. I’m pretty impressed by the sleek look and well designed controls.

It’s easy to install and it looks good with my current setup.

Since I just got it today I can’t tell if it helps with eye strain but hopefully it does.

Worth It!

Wow! This light has WAY more features that I thought!

The auto sensor is amazing. When you walk into the room the light comes on. The light auto adjusts to the surrounding light in the room. The puck control is high quality and feels heavy and similar to the feel of the Nest thermostat.

Just an amazing and very functional light. Now I understand why it a little more costly. Worth it!

Perfect for late-night work

I often work at night without turning on the ceiling light to avoid waking my family. Staring at a bright screen in a dark room used to hurt my eyes—especially with white apps like PowerPoint.

The ScreenBar Halo 2 made a big difference. The backlight gently lights up the background, which really eases eye strain. The front light lets me see my desk clearly without screen glare.

If you work in low light, this is totally worth it.

Robert

Great monitor and ambient light. Much needed upgrade

I have had and used the Screenbar (without the backlight) for about 6 years. Coming from that, this is a major upgrade in terms of the overall lighting this can produce, especially when studying at night. It does its job perfectly, and the wireless controller is a major upgrade as well for me. You can pretty much control everything as far brightness, color temp, motion detection, etc. The lightbar connects via usb-C and comes with a power adapter. Also comes with a webcam attachable mount which is shown in one of my pictures.

Other than the price, which is a little steep but considering how much I use my computer for work/gaming, I am still overall very happy with my purchase. The build quality is clearly very good, and it does everything I expected.

Solid Fit for 57” Samsung g9 Odyssey

The ScreenBar Halo 2 fits surprisingly well on my 57” Samsung G9 Odyssey monitor. The clamp occasionally slides due to the monitor’s curved back—wish it had a stickier grip—but it performs better than expected. Great for ultrawide or G9 users. Highly recommend!
