I have loved my previous Haiku (BA) fans. So it was a no brainer to replace an old Haiku with what I thought was the same fan. But two things I don’t care for. The light. The big giant white “bullseye” light. Dummy me but I thought in the photos the white lite image was meant to show what it looks like when the light is on. My previous Haiku fans all have a black cap over the light and they look much nicer. This looks terrible. A beautiful fan with this obnoxious white center cap. I already paid for the install so I’m stuck trying to put a black vinyl cover over the light just so the white doesn’t scream at you. Oh and for those suggesting I buy a Haiku without the light option, those start at $1700 which is insane to me. I was already sick about paying $930 for this one. My other complaint - one short downrod. One. And it’s very short. Why not throw in a longer downrod option in the box? The one I have is way too short for my vaulted ceiling (IMO). I probably should have performed better diligence but like I say, have always loved Haiku. Lesson learned and buyer beware.

Wanted one of these Big A** fans for a while now but didn't want to spend the $$$. Bought a cheaper knock off and was not happy. Finally bit the bullet and Bought the original. Glad to say it's money well spent. Easy installation. No bouncing, no flickering lights and quiet as advertised. Would definitely buy more as other fans die out. Will recommend to others.

The light can not be changed out and it casts an orange glow all over the room. The fan is can integrate with your smart system but can not be on dual switches. We wasted money on this fan and cannot return it because we had it installed before we knew what the issues are. Now we are trying to find a place we never turn on the light to put it. I don't even think it would work in the shed because it would be too dark. We were so excited, what a disappointment.

I am very disappointed with my Haiku ceiling fans. In December 2019 I purchased two Haiku fans at Best Buy and had them installed by the store’s
technician. I spent over $1000 for what I believed was a high quality product. By early 2023 the Haiku fan was constantly beeping with a very annoying sound which made it impossible to use. There was also an issue with the wifi connectivity. I contacted the company and they send me a new module. I again hired the original technician for a fee of $100 to replace the module. However, while the beeping stopped, the wifi connectivity still did not work, even though the installer was consulting with the company’s technical department. I requested that Haiku replace the mulfunctioning wifi part but their rep said that they don’t stock it anymore. They told me that the Haiku fan works well enough without the wifi functions and that is good enough. The Haiku rep was not only unhelpful but rude to me as well. He made me go up a high ladder to dig out serial and model information knowing the specific product , which was very difficult to access, and after all that he told me that he could not help me. All in all, this was a terrible experience with both the Haiku product and service. In my experience it is a flimsy product with a premium price. I I will absolutely not deal with the company ever again .

I have 4 fans from BAF. Plus I also purchased three of the Haiku lights. Decent fans, poor technology. First fan which was purchased directly from BAF started having intermittent connection issues. Can’t control from app but sometimes can be controlled from Alexa but most times just have to use remote. I have the wall controllers as well and they also have issues. I have these fans in two homes and two different networks and Wi-Fi. They also discontinued the lights which are synced to the fan (you can see in the video). I use the Haiku app and get prompts for firmware update and to migrate to new app, was hopeful this would solve the problem but at the end it says my version of the fan is not supported. They were purchased just under 3 years ago. Tech support while responsive does take a lot of back and forth and always wants a video. If I’m buying the most expensive fan on the market, I expect it to be the best. They are the best fans on the market and it’s easy to spend $2k on a residential fan from them and there isn’t any other manufacturer that compares to them. I have workarounds for everything but still a pain.

I got 2 fans back in 2017, after the first year they start to rust and one them stop working,
Warranty department sent me a new "brain" (controller) that work for another year and then fail again. A second brain was sent and this one only lasted for 8 month. Now i'm out of warranty.
They told me that they are not suited for humid climate like florida.
Don't waste your money on this expensive fans that behave like cheap ones.

I really like this fan. You can't criticize the sound of moving air, as that's presumably why you bought the fan. The motor is not noisy. The light is very bright, but for my installation it was dimmable enough. The remote died within the 1st year, but I was still able to control it from iPhone, so no big deal. It's was 4 yrs for me, before the fan stopped spinning. I assumed it was an electronics problem,... did the firmware updates and all. The light was controllable by iPhone, and the speed indicator lights responded, but the blades wouldn't turn. I finally got up on a ladder this morning to prepare for a troubleshooting phone call, and was shocked to see 2 of the 3 blades, catastrophically cracked at the root of the blade. Turning on the fan at this point would be dangerous. I haven't actually spoken to support yet, as we keep playing phone tag. They've been responsive at least. I will update this when I see how they feel about material failure. It's a great fan, but hard to give it a great score when the cost per year ($800 fan, $500 install = $325/yr) is so high.
Update: Big Ass Fans has offered to send me a new fan. If that actually happens, and I don't doubt it because customer service has been very responsive, I will definitely give it a 5star review. As I said at the outset, "want to love it, really liked it"..... After all, manufacturing is not a perfect process and if they replace it for material failure, that shows that they really care about what they're putting out there.

I love design and don't like ceiling fans. But this fan is amazing. It's subtle (even attractive). It's utterly silent. It has amazing speed and light features. You can use the remote, phone app, or Alexa. And it is powerful or subtle - whatever you want. I never write reviews but I'm telling you, this was worth every penny spent. Plus, customer service is super friendly and responsive. My dog ate the remote and the guy helped me load it on the app and told me the remote is only $20 if I decide to replace it. Big fan of my big ass fan.

Super great fan! It is almost as powerful as my 72” fan I had there before.
Remote is really nice. App is even better.

We bought one for the kitchen, loved it so much we bought a total of 4. One in dinette area, one in kitchen, and 2 in a large family room. They have transformed the look in these areas. They are very cleverly designed, sleek, contemporary, and have an upscale look. Probably get another for the MBR.
The Whole Family
Wow!!! Love these fans. The software was great for us, the app works really well. I can’t believe there are one star review for these. I love the ability to program them. I put up 4 today in a little o er three hours, I have some experience with fans. This has to be one of the easiest I have ever put up.
Alexa works great with these too, well for us anyway.
More expensive but worth the money. We waited till they were being sold for 500. I was going to wait till Black Friday, heard they go as low as 400 at that time.
All 4 were balanced perfectly. All 4 went up smoothly. High quality compared to any fan I have installed in the past 20 years.
If there are any problems I will update my post.
Watch my video.

I bought two of these fans. One for my family room and one for my upstairs sitting room. I wanted white to blend in with my ceiling. The white might look cheap to some people because it has a glossy look to it, but I don’t mind that it isn’t wood like my previous fan. I purchased the 60” last year directly from Big Ass Fan and it was way to low for my standard ceilings. The 52” is much better without the extended pole that it comes with. I am 5”3 and I measured 20” from my ceiling to the fan light. The light is good but takes time to get use to since I’m used to the old ceiling light that had 3 bulbs. The sound is perfect. My old fans were so noisy at the lowest speed. This fan at highest speed make only a minimal sound. It really keeps my upstairs room cool which is the hottest room in the house since it is over the garage. The fan comes with a remote, but I did not like it because I just could see it getting lost. I ordered the wall unit on BAF’s website which allows me to download the app and set the fans and light on a timer and it works with Alexa and Google. I had to put a black dot on my wall unit so I can remember which buttons are for the light versus the fan as there isn’t anything to distinguish. I had my neighbor electrician to install them which took him less than an hour to do them both. It’s been 90+ degrees for the last 2 weeks and the fans have really helped me save on my AC usage.

UPDATED: Purchased April 2019, update April 2021...
OVERALL: 1.0 stars (updated)
1. $1 remote is getting flaky... Buttons need to be pressed multiple times to get them to function. For a now $750 fan, they could at least provide a better designed remote that's reliable over time.
2. I was about to rip the fan down, but decided to dig into what is making the noise. As you can see, the $0.50 injection molded parts are the culprits. They fit too closely and cause "ticking" noises every rotation. At first it was the bottom ring, then the top rings. While the ticking has gone away, the rings are there for a purpose. They help reduce the now, annoying whirling noise of the motor/bearings. Instead of putting Band-Aids on the gushing noise problem, why don't you have your engineers solve the problem at the source. This is noise reduction 101 guys. But, then you guys could just send a small roll of masking tape and ask the customer to do what I did to fix your problem.
3. Will be moving to a new house later this year... Can't wait to rip this fan off the ceiling and inspect the rings for flatness and roundness (surface plate, indicators, snap gauges). I doubt either will portray high quality injection molding qualities. Then it's Dremel time to relieve the "issues" create by the Haiku engineers. The new home of this fan will be in my new shop where a noisy fan won't be an issue. But, damn will my shop look great with a Haiku fan!
4. And, it blows my mind that this fan has increased in price over $150 since I bought it. In no way is this fan worth it. And, mind you... I have never been contacted by Haiku to address this issue. Good luck with their market hyped products. I will never buy another one of their products, and you likely shouldn't either unless you like annoying noises.

Yeah, sure it looks pretty, get over it! But, let's talk the facts about operation of a $500+ fan after using it for over a year. I wanted a fan for the bedroom that was quiet. Thought a DC motor fan would be a good way to go.
1. The remote is too small, gets lost easy and is really cheap looking and feeling. It's still working, but my initial doubts are still there whether it would last.
2. For the life of me, I cannot get the clicking sound to go away. I have moved the shroud to multiple positions without any success. I have tried reassembly of the blades - cheating their positions radially inward and outward based on the clearances. No luck again. There is a fit issue between the top shroud parts that causes them to become misaligned over days that then causes a once per rotation clicking noise. I now will never buy another fan made mostly with plastic parts for the covers and blades. The tolerances for plastics should be much better than for sheet metal, but I think they closed the gaps up to make it look prettier. And, thus you get fit issues.
3. When not clicking, there is a whirling noise form the motor on the lowest setting. Again, horrible while sleeping. This noise is coming from the motor. I don't get how this is allowable from a product development standpoint. The DC motors that I design into robotic products don't make this much noise, even with gearboxes!
4. I will give kudos for the assembly instructions and ease by which the assembly can be done. DFA is A+.
SUMMARY: This fan is a waste of money if you want a quiet fan. It's only acceptable for a room where ambient noise is constantly present. It does a good job with the moving of air minus the serious noise issue that you have when trying to sleep. I finally got sick of the sound and moved it to the spare bedroom/office now due to COVID. I thought about diving into the fan to find the root cause, but it's such a pain to be standing on a bed with your head between the blades.

I had seen and heard about BAF in industrial settings through my career, and knew that they were high quality. So far, this fan has been great in our family room.
Positives:
- Performance. This fan works very well. This is mounted in a 22x22’ addition with high ceilings, and you can feel the air from anywhere in the room. On hot days it really moves the A/C equally around the house.
- Quiet. This fan is silent in operation even when it’s pumping out a ton of air.
- Style. We bought the 6’ extension kit from the high ceiling and the entire fan looks good. We wanted it to blend in, and most folks don’t notice it’s there. The integrated light and smooth lines make a minimal impact that keeps the high ceilings looking open.
- Light. We don’t use it often, but the light is bright and easy to adjust.
Negatives:
- The wi-fi kicks on/off at random times and makes a beeping sound as it resets. It gets annoying.
- The light is focused straight down. Probably good for any table/activity underneath but wouldn’t be an effective way to light a larger room by itself.
We purchased the wall switch accessory which is intuitive and are glad we added it. It only came with the remote that has a sleeve you could put anywhere. We wanted it hard wired to avoid storing another remote.
BAF runs discount deals throughout the year. Wait to buy until one of the holidays when they offer 40% off. We bought on Black Friday for 40% off the fan and 50% off accessories (wall switch and extension rods).
Highly recommend if you want a high quality fan!

We purchased an Haiku L fan for an addition with a vaulted ceiling. After 2 months the fan ceased to function. Condensation built up around the electronics shorting out the fan. We have can lights in the room and pendant lights. None of those fixtures have been affected. The ceiling is insulated. My contractor came by to inspect and found no physical signs of condensation ANYWHERE in the room (even in the electrical fan box). There is a problem with the fan itself. My contractor will not be recommending BIG ASS fans anymore. Called technical support and they advised that the area above the down rod should be covered but it is too late. The fan is destroyed. Had that instruction been in the installation manual we would have done that. Customer support said there was nothing they could do because water damage is not covered under warranty. I understand if we had a leak in our roof but this was just condensation. They suggested we buy an outdoor fan. Really?!! I should buy another product from them? If I did I'D be the dumber Big ASS. Going with another company probably Fanimation.

This is a great looking, quiet, sleek, sexy, product. Light is bright, fan works like a charm, remote is functional, installs easily. It does what a good fan should do. Is it worth $600? For most people - probably not. The remote does everything I need it to do...fan speed, light dimmer, sleep function, etc. It's all there. I would rather have $200 taken off the fan price and do without the app. The app allows you to turn on the fan and light from your phone, as well as other functions. I don't use any of it. The remote is all I need. So, if you are someone who needs an app based fan that looks sexy spinning, go for it! If you are looking for a basic fan that just moves some air, I would look at some more cost conscious options.

I REALLY want to get a bigass fan. Based on their products being used in industrial applications, I sorta thought this would be the best of the best.
After having it for 5 months, I can't say I'd recommend the Haiku.
The fan is solid and doesn't wobble around, or make clicking noises, and while the motor has a slight high pitch electrical whine to it, you won't notice it over the absurdly loud sound of the noise the fan blades make whipping through the air. It's like a helicopter. Seriously, even at lower speeds, it's actually impressive that it can make this much noise. Perhaps it's just really effective at moving air, but I feel more compelled to turn it off, than to cool down.
The WORST thing about this fan, and what makes it a deal breaker for me, is the light. Even at the lowest setting, the light is blinding. What's the point in lighting up a room if the bulb causes so much glare that you naturally feel the need to shield your eyes. This thing has to have something to diffuse the light. Just for functionality sake, I have shoved a piece of paper around the fixture so that it doesn't blind me (pictured). I'm going to try to fabricate a few things that are a better solution, and less hobo-cheque.
Even if this was $100, I can't see myself buying another one of these to put in any other room.

Works & looks amazingly awesome , very quiet!

Expensive. Gorgeous. Silent. And worth every penny.
Listen, in a Home Depot world, I’m glad we have options like this. American designed and meticulously conceived.
The app works great. All the options are there. The little remote is great because it is in fact, little, but with raised buttons so you can FEEL where to go with your finger even if in the dark. But I use the app anyway.
When fan isn’t on it looks like a piece of art. I’m thrilled. A ceiling fan is one of the most visually dominating pieces in any room. I’m sorry I waited so long.

Careful with the BAF Haiku L-series. They're manufactured in Malaysia and BAF does not offer repair parts or service in the US. I had one and loved it until one day I noticed one blade was cracked. I took it down and called for a replacement part. I was told to package the whole thing up as they would need to "balance" the entire unit with all three blades at the service center in Kentucky. Ok, maybe $100-150 for 1 blade and labor? I boxed it all up and called to confirm shipping address. "SORRY! We don't have parts for those and we can't get individual parts from overseas. We could fix it, but we won't." The L-series from Haiku is basically a disposable product if it ever breaks. (The plastic blades are brittle.) They offered to sell me another disposable, overpriced, unserviceable fan. They're $738 on amazn site right now. I won't buy another and caution anyone else the same. They're pretty, but the company's own service policy screws the customer if one ever breaks on you.

This is my second Haiku fan, the first being the higher end Haiku model in the main living area. Based on the ease of installation and usability of the first fan, and because I wanted another smart home integrated fan, I decided to grab this model for the master bedroom. Again I was impressed with the clear instructions and procedure for installing this fan. The quality of manufacture and usability is top notch. Solid product, and I will probably get two more for the other rooms.

It wobbles! No no no no no! At $600 I expected perfection. I could overlook the all plastic construct because it looks good has cool features. But wobbling like a $60 fan with pennies on the blades. No way.
I contacted customer service. They were friendly and all. But their solution was for me to take it down, pack it up and ship it to them at my expense. They will see if they can duplicate what I sent them a video of in action.
I don’t think so.

I loved the fan at first. Easy install, great aesthetics. Was really excited with how the app allowed me to integrate the fan with my thermostats to control the temperature in my bedroom. BUT THEN....they removed those features from the app. I contacted customer support and was notified that "The haiku L-Series Fan does not support SenseMe capabilities." Lovely, advertised a feature that I bought the fan based on, and then took it away. Downright theft! Just get a decent regular fan with a remote because the smart capabilities of this fan are limited to telling alexa to turn it on and off. Big whoop!
RIP Haiku Smart Fan Dreams

This fan is amazingly quiet, attractive, sturdy, solid, hi-tech and it has Wi-Fi capability that allows me to use Alexa to regulate it, turn it on or off or set a timer. Extremely pleased with the purchase -- and the installation by Cody Malone Services, LLC. Super job by Jeremy. Terrific job.

This is a great fan, yes it is expensive but in the end, it comes down to the quality and ease of putting it up! The motor is extremely quiet and I like the remote and ease of use. I also put up two other fans that were not Haiku's in my kitchen and the install was almost impossible compared this one. In fact, my mom was so impressed she got me to order her one too, the downside is that I get to be the one that installs it...lol oh well at least they are easy to get installed and work great!
Stove
Quality control is horrible for this very expensive fan. Parts are hard plastic and I’ve returned 2 of 3 orders for broken pieces of various parts. Very disappointed and dissatisfied customer.

So far I'm liking this sleek & modern "cheap" L series fan. Since this is the "cheap" "L" series line-up, it's mostly plastic (mine is shiny/glossy white plastic)... but it does have a some nice features like LED dimmable lighting (2700K warm white by the way), remote control, high efficiency, and very quiet.
Even though it is overall very quiet, you can hear the "wind" on the higher fan levels, and it actually sounds a little like a "swooshing helicopter". Unfortunately there is still some noise to be heard on the lowest fan setting (motor and/or friction noise?) but it's not much. Also, I thought the fan was made in the USA but it appears not. They say the higher end models are made in the USA but did not say the L series fans were.
Installation was more time consuming than previous fans I installed. It wasn't hard but a little "tricky" if you've never installed a fan like this before. I highly recommend watching the installation video for the fan that you can find on youtube.
I was impressed with the balance of the fan. I cannot see any vibration or wobbling at all. Be sure to install the fan blades (or "air foils" as they call them) in the right positions because the fan comes balanced from the factory.
It comes with one wireless IR remote and a wall holder for it. Since it is an IR remote you have to point it at the fan in order for it to work.
I also got it working with Alexa. I was going to download the "Haiku Home" Android app on my phone but it had bad reviews so I checked the iOS app and it had much better reviews so I used the iOS app on my iPad and it worked very well. It seems the Android app may still need some work. Anyway, using the Haiku Home app I made an account and got the fan setup on my WiFi network so I can control it with the app. It works. I can now say "Alexa turn on the office light" or "Alexa turn on the office fan" as well as dim the light and change the fan speed - like "Alexa set the office light to 100".
So is it worth the $$$? I'm not sure yet. If I still like it like I do now in a year or two and it performs without any problems then it very well could be. For now I'm giving it 4 stars because I'm not yet sure it is worth the high price and I was disappointed that the "L" series residential fans do not seem to be made in the USA as I had originally thought.
UPDATE 2017-12-06: I did have a good experience with their support and they are sending me another remote (good), but I also discovered that the fan wasn't as quiet as I thought because it was making some audible noise (motor and/or friction noise) on the lowest fan speed (I expected "true" silence at the lowest speed). Note that although the noise is quite low, it can still be heard when the environment is very quiet. I'm keeping my rating at 4 stars at this time but I may still upgrade the rating to 4.5 or 5 stars in the future.
UPDATE 2018-01-10: Just wanted to add that the Alexa control has been very good so far - it's been very responsive and reliable, which is more than what I can saw for a lot of other Alexa controlled devices like Belkin WeMo and Philips Hue, which can fail to respond to commands too frequently.
UPDATE 2024-06-08: Still happy with this fan and sad that I'm moving and will be losing it... but I will buy several more of them for my new place if the price drops to 'within reason' so I'm watching for a good sale. Still 4 stars because of the high price... and even higher now than ever before.

I’ve been watching these fans for some time before finally pulling the trigger a couple weeks ago.
So far I’ve been extremely pleased with the fans. They are quiet, very bright, and installation for the L series was very straightforward for me. It took more time to remove the old fan than to mount the new one.
In terms of setup, what is nice is that the box arrives with pretty much everything you need to get the fan installed. The hardware, bolts, etc. are packed in a little kit labelled with what the items are so you don’t have to wonder what’s what. They even packaged a mini screwdriver. The only items NOT included are the screws that mount the bracket into your ceiling mount. I assume that’s because everyone’s ceiling bracket is different and that’s why they don’t include those screws.
From opening the box to setup I had my fans up and running in about 30 minutes. I have two fans paired to one switch and that works pretty seamlessly. I got the SENSEME wall switch + wifi capabilities and that seems to work as well, though I was slightly disappointed that the fans have to work only in tandem. You cannot control each fan individually if they are on the same control switch. There’s supposed to be a setting to detect room occupancy, but it was turning off even when I was still in the room so I have it disabled. The remote control is far more responsive than the Harbor freight fans I used to have in the room.
Light-wise, the included LED lights were plenty bright. There is a setting to adjust the dimness. With my old fans, I l needed a desk lamp in the evenings to supplement my ceiling fan. With the haiku, the whole room was pretty well illuminated (although it casts light out in a circular fashion and I have an elongated room so there are still dark spots)
App wise, they must have made a lot of improvements since the main reviewer’s comments. The Haiku App worked fine in Google and on the iPhone. Both were responsible and had decent enough features. I really like the idea of having timers to turn on / off my lights. If I do, I’ll be sure to update this review with my experiences.
One thing to note is that the L series fan is no longer made in the US. Their H series seems to be, and that’s probably where the price differences comes in $375-475 a fan vs $1200+.) Interestingly, the H series fan was much more complicated to assemble, but probably because the fan wasn’t meant for mass audiences. Because it doesn’t say anywhere on the website that I can find, there are two down rods that come with this kit for an overall fan height of 11.4 inches or 16.4 inches. I have my fan set for 11.4 and it works well for a standard 8ft ceiling. For my H series fan I accidentally purchased extension rods (which costs $95) and it turns out that was unnecessary because the H series fan comes with 3 rods and the 3rd rod was long enough for a 14’ tall ceiling. (unfortunately I didn’t measure the rod length before I mounted it.)
Overall, great fans. I’m very happy with my purchase and I’m also glad to opt for the wifi module. Only thing to consider is that you sometimes get better offers purchasing from their site directly (call up their reps). If you are buying 3 or more fans, it’s definitely worth calling up their rep for a quote.

Pros: Silent operation, stylish, excellent build quality, powerful iPhone app
Cons: Limited to black or white, limited to 52", spendy
I was familiar with the Big Ass Fans brand bc I've seen the large commercial fans at my local Costco warehouses. The Haiku L-series delivers everything a ceiling fan should with the added benefits of stylish design, excellent build quality & a fantastically intuitive and powerful iPhone app. Installation was easy bc the Haiku replaced an ugly Hampton's Bay Victorian-style ceiling fan with beaded chain pulls to change the fan speeds & lights. It's been an eyesore ever since we moved into the house; but also a low priority project.
Installation was much easier than removing the old 35 lbs. fan & only took about 30-minutes. Most of the installation time was spent assembling the lightweight Haiku components on the coffee table. The sealed motor is low profile and a combination of solid metal & hard plastic. The airfoils attach to the motor and are individually numbered. After the wiring was completed, the 15 lb Haiku assembly is slipped onto the mounting ball & the final wiring was simple.
It's worth noting that a generic/universal hardwired wall control will only turn on the Haiku fan & lights. I haven't purchased the Haiku SenseMe wall control, yet bc it's a $125 option on the Haiku website. But the Haiku wall control does control the fan speed & light brightness; as does the remote control (which comes with a wall attachment); and the iPhone app. The Haiku wall control looks pretty cool bc of the built-in "SenseMe" temperature, humidity & motion sensors. But the Haiku wall control might also be a little overkill for our household needs bc of the iPhone app.
I read a previous owner's concerns about the app. However, I have nothing but rave reviews for the iPhone app! The installation & user interface are pretty basic and, after trying both upstairs & outside, the app functions work anywhere within our wifi network. The functions include fan speed (specifically controlled from 1-7); light brightness (specifically controlled from 1-16); Woosh Mode that simulates a breeze; and an Automated Schedule to program events for any specific day of the week. In other words, you can automate fan speed & a timer for the lights to come on at specific hours.
If I get the Haiku SenseMe Wall Control, then I can also program extra bells & whistles like smart modes for temperature/humidity, a motion sensor, Nest smart thermostat, etc. However, even without the wall control, I can program the lights to turn on at anytime while at work, on vacation or simply away from the house. The app is an incredibly useful & powerful tool and feels pretty "smart" to me even without having to spend $125 on the proprietary wall control.
