A Great machine for the money

I bought this thing to be able to watch DVDs that I have that aren't from America. It said it would play any and all region DVDs. It played two DVDs from Germany the day I received it. It seems to be built pretty good, but I don't know if I would let the children operate it because the hinge isn't as sturdy as it should be since it rotates 360°. I wanted something with a large screen and this one has it. The colors are bright and it is very clear. The ad said that the speakers were loud. They definitely are. the day I opened it I was watching music DVDs and never turned it above three on the volume and it goes up to 20. At 3 to 5 you are rocking and rolling. And the speakers sound very good whether I'm playing music CDs USBS or dvds, which is another benefit as most DVD players don't play USB. It came with a 3-year warranty so I'm hoping it will Outlast that or that there won't be any problems if I do have a problem. So far I am super happy and will update if anything goes wrong or makes me change my opinion

Average kinda pricey for what your getting but it’s okay

Works well the only nick pick I have is the grayish colors of the screen and the speakers loud but it’s okay ✅ good for road trips or if you just want to out your dvds in use

I freaking love this thing! At first, I was a bit nervous for the quality and picture but honestly, I love it. Plus it gives me nostalgia. I will be in my little cave, enjoying my movies on my days off :)

Fun Purple Portable DVD Player, Larger than Life

Finally, a dedicated portable DVD player to start a DVD collection with! I had bought a couple of my favorite DVDs a weekend ago with no way to play them, and I needed a compact and portable solution. Luckily this Boifun portable DVD player was a solution (although it is much larger than expected so not exactly compact). While the resolution isn’t the best for some DVDs, I appreciate the fact that it can play any region of DVD. It appears durable and the purple color is fun (I would still take care to not drop it). Battery life appears to be long and it was nice that it came already somewhat charged. I bought this for personal use for myself but I could see how this would be a great solution for someone elderly who wants to view their DVDs on a large screen, or a small child (it can be considered child-friendly with parental supervision to avoid accidentally dropping it). I imagine it would be useful in situations where the WiFi is down, there is a power outage, camping, road trips, etc. Or if you’re just like me and you just want your own little (or not so little) system to nerd out over your DVD collection, it’s perfect for that, too. If Boifun came out with a Blu-Ray version, I’d be interested in that. Recommended.

BIOFUN was a small yet great investment for me. I don’t have a tv in every room so this DVD player fits my needs exactly. I love the fact that it is light weight and I can take it to the kitchen, bedroom and any room in the house or take it along on a trip. It is user friendly. And another important part of working with this company is their support staff. They quickly got back to me with any answers to my questions and A!WAYS with kindness and customer appreciation.

I really love this player . I did have to buy earphones separate . The lowest volume setting seems a bit loud. I like it but playing my Elvis when husband wants to sleep i have to use headphones ! but i love it !! Love to listen to all cds tooo on one player !!

Just unboxed. Perfect so far!

I should have made an unboxing video, but I didn’t realize how easy it was going to be to unbox and play.

Showing my age here. I put in a mint condition never played copy of Eddie and the Cruisers. Perfect screen resolution! Surprisingly crisp and clear!

This is not an HD version or 4K or any of that. It’s mint condition but still older resolution. And it is such good quality, it would pass as better resolution than it actually is.

I literally just unboxed it, so all is good for now. If anything goes wrong, I will update so others know.

Amazing picture and sound!

I'm a 90's kid and I ABSOLUTELY love this. Not only can I watch all my collected movie disc's, it works with my CD's I burnt from limewire too. I even tried "my bloody Valentine" and I still had the 3D glasses. I've owned plenty of DVD players in my day. You will hear the disc in the tray. This is not a default with this kind of technology! The volume goes up to 20, it's very adiquite. The volume on my burnt CD's are much louder than the Disc's my movies are on. You can hook up headphones or a speaker if the sound isn't to your liking. The button controls are simple and the cord length is at least 4 foot. The size is bigger than an average laptop. I cant express how happy I am with this purchase. I will have endless entertainment.

Travel Companion

I ordered this product because I have to wait at airports, train stations and usually it's an hour or more. This player is exactly what I need to pass the time. If I use my computer, I end up doing work, stressing over emails or watching bad news. This helps me to relax with a good movie. Also, I cruise a lot and there are never good movies when I want to stay in my cabin or just relax on the deck. This product answers all of my travel needs. It also helps me put my old DVD's to use instead of just sitting in a box in the basement.

I am delighted with my new DVD player! I am an 'Apple girl' when it comes to my tech products- but alas, none of the apple products include a disc drive. I have many DVD's,SD cards, and USB flash drives that I could no longer enjoy. This DVD player does it all! It's simple to use, the screen size is perfect; the unit is totally portable, and has a battery life of about. 6 hours and can charge when plugged in and operating. It comes with the car charger, connections for a tv, outlet for headphones so I can watch while hubby owns the tv during NFL season, and a remote. I didn't have to order any accessories. YAY!!

A great buy for homeschool

Very good product; reliable supplier

This portable DVD player has a super large screen and is very substantial. It is simple to instal and operate. The picture is very clear. I use it to play exercise DVDs but it would be great for viewing films and traveling. It worked perfectly for a few months and then stopped. I contacted the manufacturer's service department. They tried to troubleshoot by email and then replaced the unit. They were extremely responsive, courteous and answered my emails promptly. The new player works very well. I recommend this purchase.

A Great DVD Player

I needed a DVD player to watch movies in my bedroom. This is the bomb!! I ordered it around noon on a Saturday and it was delivered to my front door at 6:30AM Sunday the next day. I love it. The screen is an excellent size and the picture has true color. It is easy to operate, just put the DVD in and touch the play button. It only takes seconds to load. The sound from the 2 speakers has a great sound. This portable DVD player has given me the freedom to watch my movies anywhere even in the car if I choose to. If you’re looking for a lightweight, durable and easy to use portable DVD player this is the one for you.

My Second Boifun Because It's The Best

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen prepping food & cooking. I can put a musical DVD on my Boifun and sing along or watch a large-screen vid while chopping onions and I have as much fun as if I had good sense. I can't remember when I bought my first Boifun DVD player. But when it died a natural death, I quickly ordered my second. It's affordable, durable, and efficient and that's all I need.

Large Screen, Good Battery, Reliable Playback, Best for Indoor Use (Not in a Car)

I bought this unit for my kids to watch movies in the car while we take long roadtrips. The vehicle is a modern minivan and has minimal engine and road noise. However, even though the kids wear headphones while watching, they need to have the volume turned up almost all the way to hear.

The unit has a cheap feel to it. The screen joints feel solid and don’t easily move, which is good, but the effort it takes to overcome their stability and move the screen makes the surrounding plastic flex. When opening, closing, or adjusting the screen, I worry that the mount will break off. Also, the screen wiggles (back-and-forth) with movement of the car. I would recommend the manufacturer to reinforce the mounting points of the screen to eliminate this flexing.

The minivan has tinted windows. But on a typical sunny day, the screen is too dim. For example, on the Main Menu of a DVD, it can be difficult to see which is selected: “Play”, “Scene Selections”, “Special Features”, etc. Also, the screen is shiny, not matte, which allows for distracting reflections while the vehicle is in motion. I have to turn the brightness way up, which tends to wash-out small details in the movie. One kid creates a ‘canopy’ using a large hoodie, and watches underneath to shield the screen from daylight and reflections. (Of course, then she complains that she’s too hot, LOL.) There are also “Contrast”, “Saturation”, and “Hue” adjustments to help, but it would be nice if the screen LED’s inherently had more nits, and I would highly recommend the manufacturer to give the screen a matte coating. To complicate all this, sometimes the Setup menu forgets the settings when the power is turned off. Not every time, just on random occasion, I need to reset all the screen settings after turning the unit back on. I’ve resorted to placing a sticker on the back of the screen with the settings on it, so that I don’t need to figure-out the settings from scratch every time that happens.

The drive motor runs very quietly. The laser tracks well, there have been no complaints of skipping during the normal movement of driving.

Note that this does not play Blu-Ray DVD’s. Keep that in mind when choosing movies for a roadtrip, or else you’ll be disappointed after you’ve left home and there’s no going back.

I appreciate that it came with both a car 12VDC adapter and a home 120VAC adapter. I can have it charged at home and ready to go beforehand, which frees-up the power port in the car for use by something else. The battery lasts through two normal-length movies without needing a recharge. However, at this time, there is no way of knowing how much battery life is remaining during a movie. I highly recommend the manufacturer to update the firmware with a way for the user to monitor the battery power-remaining in real-time.

I purchased the black unit. Some of the buttons are labelled with a white silk-screen, and have a nice contrast and are easily visible. But the circular controls and jacks on the side are not labelled the same way. They have text impressed in the plastic. My one daughter is vision impaired. Without contrast, there’s no way she can read those. So I went a little crazy with a label maker and labelled the controls and jacks that will be used the most. See pics.

Music played through the built-in speakers sounds ‘tinny’. Adjusting the built-in Dynamic Range setting doesn’t help. There needs to be an equalizer to separately adjust the bass, midrange, and treble (at a minimum). Music played through headphones does sound better but still flat.

It is not used on a regular basis, only a couple times a year. Overall, it serves it’s purpose and keeps the kids out of each other’s hair on those long road trips.

Damaged screen

The first thing noted when I held the item is that the player felt like hallow plastic - very light. After charging the unit and turning the screen on, a black line was present on more than half the length of the screen. Extremely bummed and disappointed in the item. The delivery and return were extremely quick and easy.

After returning the item the Seller contacted me and shipped a new item. So far, the item is what I was hoping and expecting. The customer service from Boifun is commendable.

I love this player

This dvd player is awesome. I love the large screen (15.6"). Plus it's great. I also like the fact that it can play all dvd regions in case I accidentally buy a movie that isn't region 1. It also plays my mp3 CDs too. The added bonus which was a surprise to me, is that they offer a free 2yr extended warranty, now that makes this company an excellent choice for their products. Also their Customer Service Support is top notch. I wish all other companies had this great of support. The only other thing that would make this player even better is if they make the screen function like a tablet (touch screen). Since I have issues with my hands the remote becomes a bit of a problem. If they did that I would buy it in a heartbeat. I had a tablet/dvd player that I loved, but the player died because it was playing the DVDs upright and not flat.

Size 15.5 and clarity is great

Purple is perfect color / DVD player is easy to use and comes with charger for vehicle so movies on road trips is a bonus.

Does not play MP4 updated - UPDATED

I followed the directions in the book. I reviewed comments about converting MP4s but I am unable to get a converted MP4 to play from the USB. The sound will play but the video will not. I get a message that says video resolution is not supported. I sent an email to BOIFUN but I have not heard back yet.

It is highly likely that I will return the item.

I need a battery-operated device that would play MP4s on a merchandise display.

I received a response from BOIFUN Customer Service Team. They told me to use a different converter and it worked. I can convert the MP4 files to MPG and play them in a loop. The AVI files only played the audio. The video would not show. Please note that the resolution is reduced. I had the brighten the video but it is working.

UNFORTUNATELY, the elapsed time cannot be removed from the screen according to BOIFUN. I attached a picture. I could not find an option in the settings so I emailed them. I was told that the time could not be removed. If I was not desperate for a solution to play a video in a loop with battery power I would probably send it back. But, I am stuck in this short timeframe. I updated my 1-star review to a 3-star. Customer service was very helpful even though they respond a day later. I assume that is because they are in China.

Not as Good as it Could Be, But Big, Bright, and has Good Sound

I've connected old Rocketfish wireless headphones (see pic of base unit cable that goes into DVD player headphone jack) for home use only because base unit must plug in to household current. But no bluetooth required. Picture quality is pretty good, but, even after fiddling with all the settings, is not nearly as sharp and crystal clear as my 2005 8" Polaroid portable DVD puts out. I've only used it twice to play movies, but unit stopped playing and screen went dark today for no reason after I put a disc I'd played before in, but operation resumed when I turned the DVD player off and on again. If it happens regularly, I'll consider it a reason for return. If that was the only time I experience that, it'll be no biggie.

Wonderful, HUGE video player!

I love this BOIFUN portable DVD player!

The player itself is beautiful and is so large that it looks like a thick laptop computer. (I've attached an image with a standard 16.9-oz water bottle for comparison.) The screen can swivel a full 180° so that it faces away from the player's base. The buttons on the player itself have a fairly loud click when pressed and are very firm to the touch, but it's effortless to read the large print of the button labels. On the right side of the player's base are a USB port, an SD card drive, a headphone jack, A/V in and A/V out ports, the main DC charging port, and a game controller port.

The picture quality, though advertised as "HD," seems pretty standard. It's sharp enough for my taste and pleasant to watch, but I wouldn't call it high definition. The playback seems unaffected by shock; I've used this player twice now in the bouncy car, and it hasn't skipped at all.

The sound quality is good enough for standard viewing but has a somewhat muffled, dry sound. Potential buyers: I would not expect top-notch sound from this player. The speakers are capable of being really loud, though, which is a plus.

The remote control is straightforward to use and has relatively large buttons (for a portable DVD player remote). However, even when I point it directly at the player, there isn't always a response. I often have to "find" the right angle to point if I want the player to respond. I'm uncertain whether it's a fault of the remote control or of the player itself.

Included with the player and remote control are an AC wall adapter (for home charging) and a car adapter. Also, there is an A/V 3-in-1 cable for synchronization to a home TV or the like. The player also comes with a helpful user manual.

I gave this product four stars because I felt that the sound quality was a bit off and because the remote control was particular about its angle to the player. Besides those things, I found this player of exceptional quality and value! I hope you find this review helpful! Thanks for reading!

There is so much to say. I love the size, quality of the picture, the rotating screen and its extremely lightweight. I carry to work and it helps me with my work. I will be purchasing one for my brother.

Great option for senior entertainment

Very pleased with this purchase so far. My mother is 84 years old and is showing increased cognitive decline and memory problems. She has difficulty operating her television and can no longer use a computer. She is still living independently however, and this was my latest idea for providing her a way to access entertainment. This unit is simple to use. It is hard to see the labels on the buttons, but I remedied that but putting labels next to the buttons she will use the most for basic operation. The remote control that comes with the unit is one of the simplest I've found, however it is possible to operate the DVD player without the remote. I didn't even give my mom the remote knowing that it would confuse her. Now she can watch movies when she likes, choose what she wants to watch when she wants to watch and will also be able to access exercise videos when winter comes and it's harder for her to get exercise.

Other things I like about this player:

-Top load disc compartment with an easy slider button that pops open the lid. The lid also clicks closed nicely.

-On/off slider switch that turns the player on immediately. My mom was always having trouble with the tiny power push-button on her computer

-Large screen and surprisingly good quality picture.

-Ok sound, not the greatest, but the volume buttons work easily and for the price of the unit it's just fine.

-Haven't tested the battery yet as I will leave it plugged in.

What a terrific Boifun value by a very good and highly rated large screen portable DVD player!

I love that I have bought this large screen Boifun portable DVD PLAYER. It works excellent, excellent video quality, volume quality, remote...everything about it is great. It plays quietly which is so very nice. Easy to operate. My grandkids will love having it to watch as we travel. Also I should add that it was packaged so well. I include pictures of the packaging. Not disappointed at all.

The BOIFUN Portable DVD Player is an Exceptional product!

I received the Boifun Portable DVD Player as a Christmas present. The 15.6 High-definition TFT LED screen is larger than the screen on my laptop computer and that is a big plus. Both sound and video quality are exceptional. I have owned several portable DVD players in the last decade and this is by far the best for both price and quality of the item.
