Hard to go wrong with bose quality sound. The sleek design is unmatched for just the sound bar alone. It provides great immersive sound for large rooms being able to control Alexa is nice from across the room. Overall, very happy with my purchase after two years of use and experience.

Not worth the money

I have loved Bose until this junk. The software keeps crashing and requires a reboot to have sound. I can’t find a TV it plays well with. The sound quality is just ok. I could not get it to just turn on with the TV or the volume to work without the Bose remote. I had to use my TV remote for channel selection and the Bose remote for volume. The subwoofer started popping at about a year. I pulled it all out and replaced it with a Roku surround system that is awesome for under 500.00. I wasted $2,000.00. On this set up. Save your sanity and stay away from this junk.

Solidly meh, disappointingly average

“Smart” speaker may be a bit of a stretch. I suppose if you define “smart” as requiring an app to operate and regularly going through your own “smart” tv’s settings to get the speaker to actually work whilst downloading “updates” for some purpose other than making the speaker function better. Sound is Bose quality, when it works after you’ve spent a good five minutes getting it to connect. O and in the app it makes you download so Bose can track and sell your data it gives you these 7 funny options on how if the sound bar and TV don’t work/function as expected you can toggle with some hope of achieving your desired effect or at least giving you this elusion. If you call customer support they’ll inform you that this “smart speaker” needs to be plugged in to an actual computer…………. So what’s the point of the app and “Smart” moniker? Honestly I’d take a “dumb” speaker that works at this point. Adding to the utter stupidity and inadequacy of this speaker. You have to be connected to the same WiFi in order for the speaker to function. Let me explain. Let’s say you’re a hard working parent who leaves early for work, your kids want to watch tv before school. They can’t, because the “dumb” speaker won’t connect and play audio from the TV unless told to by you via the app which is useless unless you’re home on your WiFi……………. I honestly expected better from Bose

Great surround sound for such a little bar. We will watch a movie and we can hear sounds to the side of us.

SOUND snobs

I admit it! We are sound snobs in this house. The regular speaker does not cut it after you hear and feel the Bose difference. I dare you to start watching transformers movie with the range of sound that you can hear during the movie and say you would go back to the regular way of life again. I was worried the price was a bit much but then I realized I didn’t need to fuss with all the other speakers for a great Quality surround sound at home. BOSE is always welcome in our home!

It took seconds to connect to my Samsung Frame tv and I didn’t need a degree from MIT to make it all work!!

Impressive. Work out of box without loading an app. Sound is very good.

But company has no business selling a scratch & dent as new. Box was clearly forked and grill is damaged.

If they want to offer a discount I'll revise rating and will keep otherwise sending back.

Completely Unacceptable

This thing is a VERY EXPENSIVE piece of crap. There are no manual controls on the device. Everything has to be done once it connects to the Smart TV. When I try to select the soundbar using settings on the TV, it connects to for appx 5 seconds and then reverts back to the TV speaker. FYI - my TV is less than a year old. Calling Bose was useless. I got passed to three different people, none of them knew more about the product than me. When I set up the return, the company won't send UPS to pick it up. They want ME to bring it to a UPS drop off. BOTTOM LINE, unless you're looking for a lot of aggravation, buy something else.

Waste of time and money

The sound bar was great when I first purchased it. However, the soundbar is stuck on a white light going from left to right. I poured hours into this problem and apparently it is stuck in update. I did the factory reset, I tried plugging the wired ethernet cable, and nothing has worked. The next step is figuring out how to do a firmware update using a computer and directly connecting into the soundbar. I bought this sound bar less than 3 months ago.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. Apparently this problem is soo well known you can find several POSSIBLE solutions to fix your problem. For me, I have not yet found the solution to this problem that works, but I have more to try.

Best soundbar ever.....THE BOSE ULTRA

I meticulously researched soundbars and ultimately chose the Bose Ultra Soundbar for its AI Dialogue Mode, enhancing vocal clarity. Pairing it with the Subwoofer 700 was a fantastic decision—worth every penny. The combination's performance is astounding. Testing it with movies like Gladiator and Top Gun 2 revealed remarkable detail, from whispers to the crackle of burning branches and exhilarating flybys, all accompanied by incredibly crisp vocals and deep, clean bass. I Setting up took less than 15 minutes and was a breeze. I strongly advise utilizing the AdaptiQ headset for an acoustic test to optimize the soundbar's performance according to your room's unique characteristics. Highly recommended!

Don’t forget ADAPTiq headset calibration! It will adjust the settings to optimize your system's sound based on your room's unique acoustics. Your room's surfaces, furniture, rugs, and other elements affect how sound is perceived within the space. During calibration, the system measures your room's characteristics and tunes the sound output of your system to match.

Piece of Junk

After spending $900 and more importantly my time, I got this piece of junk that doesn’t work., It connected with my TV (LG OLED) and worked for 30 mins and kept on disconnecting for no reasons.. Every time I have to switch off and switch on the speaker and it works again for like 30 mins before disconnecting., Tried reaching their customer service but they suck so bad that even some local products have better service than these guys., Will never buy Bose products again.,

I have always had good luck with Bose and wanted to try their newest sound bar. It was easy to set up and manage with the app. It appears to be easy to add speakers and a subwoofer to the sound bar for a more surround sound experience.

Phenomenal Sound and Easy Setup

The Bose Smart Ultra Soudbar is beautifully built and finished. Though compact, it provides phenomenal sound quality.

Let me tell you, the setup was so simple - it took a single cable to hook to the television!

There is a remote control that covers the basics, including powering the bar on and off, adjusting the volume, playing and pausing content, and selecting your input.

After I put the soundbar in position and connected to the TV with power, I downloaded the "Bose Music Control" app, which is free for iOS and Android. This app gives you control of the soundbar and puts you in charge of the Adaptiq automatic room calibration system.

I didn't explore integrating the other Bost speakers, but it appears to be possible.

There is a touch control on the top surface of the soundbar if you want to override the integrated microphone. If you leave the voice enabled, it is quick and easy to get what you want from the Bose simply by just asking. I'd say that I was impressed by the reliability of responses to my request. Apple AirPlay2 is available and Chromcast is built in. Also, you don't have to toggle to use the voice feature.

The system essentially calibrates itself to your environment quickly and accurately and has plenty of control options. When it comes to sound quality, immediately the sound is very clear and reasonably balanced. We are audiophiles (record collection, love movies, amateur music room in home) and while dialogue enhancement and bass features are both available, I didn't need to use right away. I believe this is due to the True Space feature.

It was hard to believe that such dynamic sound came from the compact soundbar, but I've had the Bose CD system for years. The spatial audio that comes from the bar is impressive. I didn't notice a significant difference in space and height of the sound, which was a concern initially after reading other reviews.

You can utilize HDMI, ARC and wireless Bluetooth connections.

Be prepared to have everything you watch feel like you're in an enhanced movie type of setting.

One of my kids was playing the game while the soundbar was on. I was absolutely and thoroughly entrenched with the effects and he was thoroughly surprised that I had interest. It was the Bose sound.

The unit comes at a reasonable price, especially considering it feels like you're on a quality soundstage.

The package was delivered to my office and I was able to carry it. It fit across the backseat of my vehicle and set-up was easy.

I put this soundbar to the test with the movie "Dune," known for its intricate sound design. The dialogue was clear from the start, and enabling the AI Dialogue Mode via the phone app was a breeze. It enhanced dialogue clarity and volume without becoming distracting. However, I'm concerned about the feature's longevity if the app is no longer supported by Bose. Including it on the remote would have been a more convenient solution.

Fantastic sound with very clear diolog

The setup was straightforward; I connected via HDMI and then downloaded the Bose Music App. From there, you simply follow the instructions on the app. Getting my Apple TV to use it fully required some additional setup. Once done, I was blown away by the sound. I knew it would have good high and mid sound, but it has decent bass as well. I connected the Bose bass module, and the sound was immersive and rich. Gaming with it creates a clear, incredible experience.

Powerful Sound, Small footprint

When I saw the announcement for this soundbar, I got excited, what a perfect compliment to my new monitor I thought...well, I was right. From the moment I powered it on, and it played a bass heavy welcome chime, I knew I'd made a good decision. The setup was easy using my smartphone and easy-to-follow prompts. After a short update, I was ready to roll, if you want to connect this to a PC, as I did, you'll have to use either the bluetooth or optical connections, the HDMI works with ARC only. It took seconds to set up using bluetooth and my phone. Less than 10 minutes after unboxing, I was enjoying rich powerful sound...without a subwoofer, and it fits on my desk at that. My office is small, but if you have a larger space, you can use the Adaptiq microphone that's included to tune the sound to your liking. If you're in the market for a new soundbar, you can't go wrong with this one.

Ummm, yeah -- this soundbar is AWESOME!

I've had different surround systems over the years and really appreciate good, immersive audio. The one thing I haven't really appreciated is the bulky reality of multiple large speakers all around the room that, while delivering great sound, can also be eyesores in the interior design. Hence the search for a higher-end soundbar that could be low profile so it blends with the decor, while still offering top-notch audio features, especially one of the modern pinnacles of sound tech, Dolby Atmos.

Bose has always been at the top of my list and this new soundbar certainly keeps the brand at the top in my book! The sound is simply amazing, and all put together in an eye-pleasing, low-profile form factor that accents other audio-video pieces, but doesn't take over with box-like "trip hazards" in a small-space, home-theater room.

Key benefits that I wanted in a soundbar and how the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar delivered:

• Immersive audio in a low-profile package: The Bose Smart Ultra really came through here. Its TrueSpace tech creates the multi-channel experience even more than others I've compared with multiple satellite speakers! I do plan on adding the Bose Base unit and may add the Bose rear speakers to this system for even more surround sound (I really like the low-profile design of the rear speakers!)

• Dolby Atmos: This tech was a must-have in my search for a soundbar, and Bose checked that box for me from the get-go!

• Super easy connection: While I am kind of a techie and don't mind more complicated set-up, especially with high-end, quality tech enhancements, I really liked that this Bose soundbar was really easy to set up and get to the reason I wanted higher-quality sound to begin with: enjoying the home theater!

• Enhanced dialogue mode: Because a lot of cinematographers are mixing sound differently these days to take advantage of the immersive sound systems available, both for cinema and home-theater environments, without a sound system with a feature like Bose's A.I. Dialogue mode, words (and story) can get lost amongst the other robust sound design of a movie or show. Dolby Atmos helps define the dialogue for sure, and Bose's A.I. Dialogue Mode helps to define voices so that the dialogue is more discernible (and I don't have to turn on the annoying subtitles)!

I definitely recommend this soundbar and will be telling more than a few friends!

Works Great with my Projector. Awesome Connectivity through bluetooth and Optical. Quick and Easy set up with bose app! Sound quality is very clear and crisp. There Also alot of bass sounds like it has a subwoofer in the room! Overall amazing experience with the bose smart sound bar!

When I opened the box I realized that it was a product with a beautiful construction made of quality materials. It's a top of the line soundbar! To set up, it's very simple, just download the app by pointing at the QR Code on the box. In just a few seconds, you will be using it. After installing the Bose app, simply select the product model. Very easy! Installation is practically plug play. Just download the app and configure your network in the app itself. There is a QRCode in the box. But this new Smart Ultra Soundbar surprised me with its sound quality. It practically fills every space in the room with quality sound. I watched some films in Dolby Atmos and was surprised by the range of sound in different directions. Amazing. If you are looking for a soundbar, you will fall in love with the sound quality. Bose's new AI technology (TrueSpace) separates instruments, dialogue and effects. It really stands out with an improvement in the dialogues and voices of the films and series I watched. I did the calibration that optimizes the acoustics of your room, adjusting the sound according to your needs. It's very simple to do. In short, I can say that this new soundbar will be surprising for its construction quality and sound delivery. Although it's not a soundbar for everyone's budget, I'm sure it's worth every penny paid.

Getting Started:

Setting up the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar is a breeze. Just plug it in, connect it to the TV, and you're good to go! I also did a software update within the Bose Music app, but I'm not sure if that's essential for getting started. Once I set the audio output to the soundbar, the magic began. The difference was immediate as the music I was playing switched from my TV speakers to the soundbar.

Sound Quality:

This is, without a doubt, one of the best soundbars I've ever heard. The A.I. Dialogue Mode is fantastic, ensuring movie dialogues are crystal clear, even during intense action sequences. The ADAPTiQ feature, which adjusts to room acoustics, adds depth and richness to the sound. While sound localization is effective, it's limited by its front-facing position. However, the soundbar shines with 5.1 or Atmos content, offering an immersive experience. I haven't tested it with a dedicated sub and rears, but I imagine that would enhance the experience even more.

Connectivity:

This soundbar is super versatile. Whether it's eARC, optical, Bluetooth, Chromecast, or Airplay, it connects seamlessly with various devices. If you've had sync issues with other soundbars, you'll be glad to know I didn't have any with this one. Here's hoping the glitch-free experience continues.

Among its features, SimpleSync is my top pick. While not unique to this model, it lets you pair Bose headphones with the soundbar instantly - perfect for when others need some quiet. ADAPTiQ, though also not exclusive, is key to get the most out of this device. The standout new feature is the A.I. Dialogue Mode. I'm usually wary of A.I. labels used for marketing, but here, it genuinely delivers.

Unbelievable Dolby Atmos Sound

I replaced my Bose Solo 15 system with this Bose Ultra. Upon unboxing it, its pretty hefty in weight, a nod to its quality. I followed the instruction and after a system update right after pairing to the Bose Music app, it took me through the step by step instructions to get the speaker ready. Immediately i tested it with 6 Underground on Netflix, and wow! The surround effects, the height effects in particular was very convincing. I had to look up to make sure i didnt have speakers up there. I have a cathedral ceiling where the highest point is 12 ft and the Bose had no problem bouncing sound that high and back down to me. Simulate side channels were very convincing as well. Watching nature documentary encoded with Atmos, really was immersive as sound was moving everywhere in the room. I also bought the Bose 700 bass module and the extra low end made my living room into an Atmos theater. I would advise to follow all the steps and go through the Adaptiq calibration procedure for the best possible sound. If you are not getting enough height effect because of high ceilings, turn the height effect to 100 in the Bose Music app. The Ai Dialog mode really does make vocal and speech more clear...toggle this on or off to hear the difference. Use HDMI eArc port from the bar to the HDMI eArc/Arc port on your Tv to get the best sound which includes Dolby Atmos. I have a 2023 Samsung Q60c Qled tv and had no connection issues whatsoever. Just make sure your hdmi eArc port is enabled in the tv settings..for newer Samsungs, set the hdmi eArc to Auto. All in all, The Bose Ultra puts out surround sound like I have never heard from a sound bar...sure its not like a discrete system with separate speakers for each channel, but with tech this good, i feel something like this is all people need these days. Highly recommend and looking forward to getting the Bose 700 surrounds to complete the system at a later date.

Replaces the Bose 900 as the top soundbar, need the bass module, complications with setup

This new Ultra Soundbar takes the place of the Bose 900 as their top-of-the-line soundbar. This soundbar is basically the Bose 900, but with the added feature of AI Dialogue mode (enabled by default). You can switch it off in the app. This software feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) to sense when people are speaking in the move and adjusts the sound to improve the clarity of the voices.

Keep in mind that this is only the soundbar. The product pictures show the soundbar, surround speakers, and bass module, but they are all sold separately. This soundbar works with the 500 and 700 bass modules. You can connect up to two bass modules. I added the 700 bass module and it makes a huge difference. I wouldn’t recommend this soundbar without the bass module.

This was a real headache to set up. Hopefully you can learn from my mishaps:

Day 1: You need to install the app to setup the soundbar. I eventually plugged everything in (AC cable is really short, and there’s no wall-mount clips) and that’s when the setup process froze. I restarted and the app gave me an error message: it was in the process of installing a software update on the soundbar.

I plug in the hdmi cable, which is the first choice for best sound quality. But after going through setup, and switching my TV sound output to hdmi, there’s no sound from the TV. I go to the TV device connector settings and it tells me that only 1 of the hdmi ports supports eARC (sound output). There’s no picture of the eARC port. Well great, I have a 75” LG Smart TV mounted to the wall. It’s not going anywhere and I can’t see which of the 5 hdmi ports is marked “eARC” for sound output. Time for trial and error.

I eventually find the correct hdmi port and it seems to be working great. I can use the TV remote to adjust the volume on the soundbar. Next, I set up Alexa on the soundbar. Unfortunately, after installing the Bose skill, the command “Alexa turn on/off the TV” no longer works. Instead, it connects/disconnects the soundbar to the TV. I eventually fix this by renaming my TV “Living Room TV.” This took all night, now it’s bedtime.

Day 2: My son wakes me up at 6:30am complaining that there’s no sound from the TV. I restart everything, still no sound. Assume the problem is the hdmi cable. I order an 8K eARC hdmi cable.

Day 3. Hdmi cable arrives, I plug it in, everything is working again. After dinner I hear my daughter crying. Go over and the TV is silent again. The Bose app has about 7 different option settings to select on the soundbar to deal with this issue. I try all 7 and none of them solve the problem. I give up on the hdmi cable and order an optical cable.

Day 4: I get the optical cable installed, everything is working, and I can turn off the TV and the sound still works when I turn it back on. Now my wife complains that the TV remote volume button doesn’t work. I go to my TV’s universal remote setting, there’s a selection for installing a “Bose Soundbar” and it gives me 4 remote options. I try them all on my TV’s “magic” remote and none of them will work with the soundbar.

Day 5: Wife doesn’t like having to use the Bose remote for the volume and the LG remote for the TV. Now it’s time to drop the optical cable and switch to Bluetooth. You need to push and hold the Bluetooth button for several seconds to get the soundbar into paring mode with the TV. The good news is that Bluetooth lets you use the TV remote to adjust the volume. Plus, now there’s no wire to worry about. The problem here is that every time I turn off the TV I need to reselect Bluetooth as the audio output. At this point, minor inconvenience, easier than unplugging the hdmi cable and restarting everything.

Day 6: We’re watching a movie and my wife says there’s no bass, what kind of speaker for this price doesn’t have bass. I order the accessory Bass module 700, which is as much as the soundbar.

Day 8: The Bass module arrives is really easy to connect to this soundbar. Plus, everything is Bluetooth (up to 33 feet) so there’s no wires. And you don’t need to reconnect it whenever you use it. It stays connected to the soundbar. The only quirk is that you need to connect it as an accessory speaker under settings, you can’t add it via the add speaker to group setting. But wow, this is a huge improvement. The room literally shakes now. You can totally feel the sound. I really think you need the bass module with this product.

The best sound bar I've ever had!

I've had several Bose sound bars, Soundtouch speakers, Bose Micro speaker, Bose Soundwave system so when I got my new tv, I got the Bose Ulra Soundbar. This soundbar is amazing! The setup through the Bose Music app took a total of maybe 30 minutes.

During the setup, you put a headband on with a sensor and with "AdaptIQ" you sit in 5 different places where you would normally sit in your room and the system, sensing your position in the room, adjusts the sound to the 5 various spots for maximum sound. It was really amazing to hear the sound from different parts of the room, especially when watching Netflix's "Formula One" series, the cars flying around the track!

For older people like my wife and I, the "AI Dialogue Mode", works well, which in the app notes,"Uses AI to sense when dialogue is occurring and automatically adjusts the tonal balance to improve the clarity spoken words with minimal impact to immersive effects." This really made a difference in being able to hear the dialogue better.

I can't say enough about this soundbar. It's by far the best I have ever had.
