Super useful sharpeners. Being able to set stubby or pointy tips is great for colored pencils to keep the tips from popping apart. Bought a ton because my kids love doing art and never remember to have a sharpener

I have used sharpeners from Bostitch for many years. I trust their quality and they always work well. My young grandson is starting to enjoy drawing, taking after his artistic mother, so i am filling his artist tote with a variety of new items he can use when he is with me.
A good pencil sharpener is a basic need, and, like I mentioned, I trust the quality Bostitch name. This is a manual, plastic, pencil sharpener with easy to use ratchet technology. Great for small hands. Since he works with pencils and colored pencils, this will be perfect and compatible with both types.. Plus, blue is his favorite color. Yay!
It is durable and makes little noise when in use…and is a great value for the money spent.
I am very pleased with this sharpener and he will be, too.
Highly recommend.

Great little sharpener! Sharpens pencils smoothly, doesn’t make a mess, and is perfect for school. Highly recommend!

I purchased this pencil sharpener for $6.03 mistakenly thinking I was getting three because of how it was advertised. I also bought a single sharpener for $3.50 as I needed a total of four. It turns out I only received two sharpeners, which was disappointing. I understand it was my mistake, but the misleading advertisement and the higher price for what I thought was a multi-pack are frustrating. It also arrived late

The best pencil sharpener I every bought. It sharpens my color pencil.

Sharpens very well, but they didn’t think the design through too well. Don’t let it get too full, or it’ll be difficult to empty. It opens on its side, and the sharpener is turned away from the opening (not sure if that was deliberate for safety or if it’s just the one I got), but half the shavings got stuck behind the shaver. I took a butter knife and scraped them all out. Definitely makes it a little less convenient though…

This pencil sharpener is definitely better than the one I had previously- this is a cleaner shave getting the point where you want it, perfect sharpness desired. Has option to sharpen something bigger than a traditional pencil with button at bottom. Would really come in handy in a classroom setting.

Read closely. You only get one sharpener. Color is randomly picked. I got a red one. Works smoothly on my lip liner pencil.

This, the Bostitch Twist-N-Sharp, is the best color pencil sharpener I have ever used, and I have used plenty. I just threw away my P********** one and was on the lookout for a new one. I had no idea it would end up being a bright blue one by Bostitch. I immediately went thru my color pencils, my less expensive ones, and tried it out. I am shocked! This little sharpener is fantastic! If you are actively looking or just browsing, stop! Look or browse no more. This is what you are looking for. This is what you did not know you needed.

I purchased two Bostitch Twist N Sharp manual pencil sharpeners for my kids to use at school. They are a great size. It has 2 options for sharp or blunt pencil tips which I’ve never seen before. It sharpened perfectly! It is easy to open the side to dispose of the shavings. It works great. The metal is safely tucked inside the sharpener and can not hurt small fingers. Easy to use and does what it’s intended. Would purchase again!

UPDATE:::
I purchased these sharpeners in July to start school in August. My son typically sharpens his pencils in my classroom so it hasn’t been used often, but it is now February and THIS is what this thing does to his good, name brand pencils!!!! It’s completely warping them with just 3-4 passes. What the heck?! 5 stars are now a 1 star! This should not be happening, especially in such a short amount of time! Only giving TWO STARS for the fact it is cheap.
Original (5star) review): Honestly, one of the best pencil sharpeners I’ve ever bought my kids and super affordable! I got these July 2025, for $1.97. I purchased two and both were the red color, would’ve loved a pink and a blue one but not a huge deal.
My first grader had a little trouble using it but once i showed him he has now sharpened an entire box of Ticonderoga pencils.
Both of my kids couldn’t figure out themselves how to empty the cartridge, so i showed them. Also, the first few times opening one of them was pretty difficult. I had to use the edge of my scissors to get it open, but it’s now opening fine and closes securely.
Definitely recommend for all ages! It’s quite fun to sharpen the pencils myself!

I absolutely love this pencil sharpener. It works on the thick, big pencils and then the little ones on all different kinds, and I love that about it cause you can change the variation from the triangle to the square and it makes the pencil sharpener sharpener or better for your pencil. Look at the detail, excellent!

Bought this for my daughter and it's very easy to use. It's one of the best adjustable manual pencil sharpeners i've ever used! Having the little switch at the bottom to control whether you want a sharp point for precise writing, color lining or the blunt point for wide strokes and color filling is really helpful. Just using a few quick twists gets the job done without it eating up your entire pencil. Perfect for every age. Highly recommend

Quiet little pencil sharpener that works well.
This little sharpener gets pencil super sharp. It’s super easy to empty. My daughter loved how it looked so much that she took it to school and brought it home with a little sticker.
I also love that it has metal construction. I think that’s why it works so well.

Love it still doing it's function. Strong steady and, portable, very nice to get a grip on even for me and my grandsons hands. WORTH EVERY CENT. TOTALLY RECOMMEND

We had the pencil sharpener a few months now a doll it's been holding up well. I like that the catch where it opens up isn't flimsy and opens accidentally. I'm not really sure what the twisting feature does. The picture is misleading - you only get 1 sharpener. Easy to use. Easy to hold for adults and kids. Perfect size to fit on the pencil pouches at school.
Really delicious!!!
This is a cute product
I love how you can sharpen any time and don't have to go to the trash can every time 😊
I really recommend it.

I've tried several sharpeners including electric ones. NONE compare to this. All the others either break the lead or only produce a blunt truncated cone (see image). This one produces a needle-like point (OR you can select blunt if desired) exactly what is needed for crosswords or sudoku. At $2.24 each in a 3-pack, I put one each in our 2 office drawers and the third in the puzzle drawer. The ratchet mechanism is innovative, reducing stress on the lead allowing a perfect point every time. Highly Recommended.

It works really well, seems sturdy enough. I feel they could be smaller to fit better in pencil cases, but still I really liked them. I liked the side opening vs the ones that open fully that tend to be a little messier because they open more easily. The downside to the side opening is that when a lot of shavings get jammed in it is harder to remove. Same thing if the tip of the pencil breaks and is stuck in there.
They have a little knob to change the sharpening from sharp to flat tip that I didn't realize what it was for until later, but it's a cool function because you don't always want the tip to be too sharp, specially for coloring.
To me it was a great buy! I also have the Bostitch electric sharpener, I think it's a great brand overall.

NOTE: Read the back of the package first so you know how to properly use this sharpener. This is NOT a long point sharpener for all you shaders out there!
PROS:
1. Quickly sharpens a dull point in two or three twists.
2. Quality sharpen - doesn’t tear up the wood or shred the lead.
3. Holds a very acceptable amount of shavings before needing to be emptied.
4. No sharp corners to break off in purse or backpack.
5. Accepts any shape of standard pencil.
6. Has an adjustment switch for sharpening pencils to a broader point, such as you might want with colored pencils. Handy location on the front.
7. Reasonably priced at time of purchase (January ‘24).
CONS:
1. It’s made of plastic, including the blade housing, so it’s breakable. But it seems reasonably sturdy if not dropped onto tile flooring or concrete. I haven’t tested it.
2. No choice of color. You get whatever they send you - not a game changer for me. I received a pretty, bright pink one (see photos).
I’m very pleased with this sharpener and plan to buy a couple more to keep in different places. I own eight different types of pencil sharpeners, including an electric. I own some expensive colored pencils that I don’t want eaten / wasted by faulty sharpening, so three or four of my manual sharpeners weren’t cheap.
I’ve used this handy sharpener on my Mirado Black Warriors and several variations of Staedtler lead pencils on a daily basis and found it to quickly and efficiently sharpen them. I recommend this Bostitch Twist ‘n Sharp as a great everyday pencil sharpener that gets the job done!

I love this brand, I have the double ones as well. I love how you sharpen going in one direction and than the other (I show what I mean in a video), instead of trying to spin it all the way around..
They work wonderfully! They keep the mess inside, a little bit tiny tiny dot of color might escape here and there, so we keep them in a little bag or pencil case.
I love that it takes awhile before you have to empty it and its easy to empty too!

I used this to sharpen my daughter’s PRISMACOLOR colored pencils. After reading I found there’s an option for a sharp or blunt end, I was wondering why they weren’t sharp at first, but after I thought it was cool that you have that option. I’m not giving 5 stars because it is difficult to get the shavings out if you let it get full/ sharpen more than 5 pencils at a time. I sharpened her whole 36 count set and most of that time was spent trying to empty it out. Other than that works great and I will order for my all the kiddos after testing it.

The pencil has to be shoved against one side to force the blade to hit the barrel. As I sharpened, the pencil gets bumpy and eats at the graphite instead of the wood. When I attempt to dump trimmings, only the side near the opening empties. The other side stays put, only emptying with the assistance of a toothpick to help dislodge and pull out.
I considered donating them but ended up keeping. Okay for 1st grader learning to write and anyone with low standards for sharpeners who does not know any better.

Yes, the sharpener is very nice. I really appreciate being able to toggle between sharpness settings as well as using a ratcheting motion to sharpen the pencils.
That being said, I was more impressed with the packaging of this product than anything else. Seems like a strange thing to say but I am so happy. The sharpener itself comes in a little dome of plastic with a cardboard backing. It's safe to say we're all fairly familiar with the pain that comes from opening things packaged like this because it is incredibly difficult to separate the plastic from the cardboard and it commonly hurts to do so. Not this one! There is a little tab of plastic that sticks out and isn't glued to the cardboard which allowed me to easily lift and separate the plastic from the cardboard! I am so in awe of how this simple little bit of extra plastic saved me from a headache and painful nails. I want this on everything from now on!

Was a great deal and came early in the mail

Bought this after a move left me with no sharpener. Seemed like a good idea, but its quality was horrendous. Not only did the sharpener part spin, it wouldn't sharpen the blade when I held it. Got some amusement, but a waste of money either way.

I loved this pencil sharpener. My kids use pencils like crazy everyday for homework, and my 6 year old daughter just loves writing and drawing so it's a little extra use with her. I set out to find a sharpener that would work because all of the ones I have bought from Walmart just don't seem to work. You twist and twist and it breaks off your point, and if it doesn't then it leaves it weak enough to were it breaks once you use them. This sharpener does as its promised it uses the twist technology. You only twist it about 4 times and it is sharp and ready to use. The lead is not on there weak it is pretty sturdy. I do have to say that the first 3 times I tried it I failed. Tip kept breaking off because I'd sharpen to much. It takes some tries to get used to it from going from a regular sharpener. Once I got over that I'm so glad I purchased this. My daughter brought me her set of loner pencils that were damaged because of other sharpeners and the tips are amazing. I love the option of having a fine tip and a more dull one. Door opens on side to let out the mess without a problem. If you do need to twist the sharpener inside to clear it (like me who broke 3 tips) you simply insert your nail on top slot and twist. ( my nails are not long) Totally recommended. Only downfall is that they do send you a random color. I chose blue and got pink. Glad its for home use and not for my son to take to school.
