What a disappointment. Im at my wits end dealing with Spreetail and ChargePoint. First Spreetail sent me a used item and charged me full price. More there was a crucial part missing. Do NOT buy from Spreetail. It's not worth the hassle. Missing was what I call a $2 part called the U-clip. See image of Chargepoint install instructions. The problem is that Spreetail doesnt have the missing part. And worse yet, neither does Chargepoint. Both are laughable claims. Spreetail continues to sell used open box stuff. So how about sending me one from that box. And Chargepoint? They sell new ones all day long. Hard to believe they could make it more difficult. At first it was a warranty claim, bc I didnt get the part. That was so cumbersome, that I simply offered to buy it. Can you believe they wouldnt let me simply buy it. Ive given them proof of purchase and photos of where the Uclip is supposed to go. and so on... All I can say is if I can get out of this circus with my money, I will not buy a Chargepoint.

Couldn’t be happier with this charger. The cord is long enough to reach any port on the car and the swivel head makes storing a breeze. Local electrician was able to come out and install in a snap. I love the automatic reminders to plug in and schedule eco charging

Great Level 2 EV charger!
Great Level 2 charger! I had ours installed on a large support beam under the carport by a professional electrician, and would highly recommend that for anyone not skilled at such things. The Chargepoint™ App is great, and it's easy to use and set to recommended charge levels. Also helps in keeping up with costs for charging, which thankfully are very low compared to filling a gas tank :-)

Easy EV Charger
This is a great EV charger for level 2 home charging with the CCS plug. As of 2025, new cars will start using the NACS plug (Tesla). Most cars come with adapters to use either plug. This charger works flawlessly with either (NACS compatibility with your own adapter). The hardwired charger is the safest option, as long as you have at least a 6AWG wire connecting to a 60AMP breaker in your electrical panel. This lets you safely select 48AMPs of power, which works out to about 11kWh. This provides the best home charging experience in my opinion.
Initial setup is easy in fast. However, wifi is required to complete installation. The charger only supports 2G wifi; it will see 5G wifi and connect to it, but give a cryptic error message and not finish setup.
Plugging in is easy and the charge cable is long to reach inside or outside most garages. The cable is sturdy, though be careful not to damage it or drag it across the ground.
The app integration works well, although it does not support multiple users in the home. Each person would have to install the app under one account (as of 2025). There are plenty of options to check charging status, and even stop charging remotely. We have the charger set up to not charge during peak hours, which our utility company charges triple the price. This schedule is easily set up in the app.
Occasionally, the power ring of the charger will turn white. This means it’s not connected to wifi, or it’s not connected to the ChargePoint cloud service. When this happens, the charger will charge more slowly. I don’t like the idea that the charger requires a cloud connection to charge at full speed. Also, there’s no physical reboot button on the unit. Sometimes the white ring can be solved by turning the unit off and on. This requires you to go to the electrical panel and flip off the breaker for 1 minute.
All-in-all, it’s a good and reliable charger, and some power companies offer rebates.

Works well after professional installation
Bought a 2025 Ford mustang Mach e and needed a charger installed at home. So far so good with the chargepoint. The hose is adequate enough to reach the car in the driveway. The app is kind of cool it tells you how much you used with each charge and the approximate cost through your energy supplier and provide a monthly sort of review with the total cost that you have spent charging.

My electrician was able to install it relatively easily. It’s nice and sleek looking with it not being big at all so it fits nicely in the nook in the front of my garage on my driveway. The app is very easy to use. It charges my car at its maximum charge rate.

Junk. Absolutely zero tech support. You will wait multiple hours. If you elect a callback, they will reach back out 6-8 hours later and,
if you’re unluckly like me, it will be at 3am.
They have known issue of the device restring itself so that it cannot be serviced.

Lousy app integration makes this a poor choice for anyone with more than 1 car.
It’s very OK as a charger and it’s expensive. The software -frankly- sucks. I bought it because it’s part of ChargePoint (already have an account and the largest network) and numerous tech reviews said it was the best charger.
It works fine charging the car, was easy to install and commission, and seems well built.
Here’s why it gets 2 stars:
It’s expensive and lacks some VERY basic functionality in the control app. How on earth do they not support more than 1 charger in the app? This is absolutely inexcusable. The average American home has 2 cars. The average EV home has 3. Do you really think these people will have one charger? It never even occurred to me that ChargePoint would do something so boneheaded dumb. I would have returned it but I didn’t realize until I went to add the second charger.
You also can’t have more than one house/location. Again, lots of potential users will want this. The only option is to create an andditional account and log in and out of the accounts each time you want to configure anything. There are no controls on the device so you need the app. Competitors all have this capability and usually at a lower price. Just dumb.
Second, it’s nice to have cord storage but the storage is atop the device and its heat sink. It gets way too hot at full power with the cord wrapped up there. I limited it to about 40A in software and that seems fine. 50A gets very hot and I generally don’t use it. When I do I pull the whole cord off the hanger because it’s too hot for my peace of mind.
Third is that it won’t enforce the schedule for bossy cars (cough - Tesla). I plugged a model 3 in during peak and the Tesla immediately overrode the soft time limit on the charger and started charging. Some other competitors allow your limits to have more teeth.
Another issue is that you can’t adjust what the system estimates your charge and cost to be. Since it’s completely wrong estimating my cars mileage that feature is both useless and frustrating, (looking at wrong data is worse than looking at no data). It has also now spontaneously started incorrectly estimating cost from my utility so 2/3 of the data is wrong.
I have a Ubiquiti UniFi network at home and should have bought their charger. I regret reading the tech reviews. I recommend buying something else unless you really like ChargePoint and will ever only have one car.

But how is the customer service?
I am writing this review 14 months after the purchase. I just went through an ordeal where my WIFI connection through the app stopped working. I called in and was walked through quite a bit of steps to try and fix things. Keep in mind the charger still worked when I plugged it in for immediate charging, I just couldn't schedule a charge for later. Anyway, they walked through everything and still not connecting.
They sent out a replacement device. I swapped them out and still no connection to the app. I returned the old one even though it changed nothing. Then we worked through next steps. Eventually, maybe 3 or 4 days later I got an email with additional steps to take. It worked with the next level steps and now I'm back in business. I provided the quality follow up so their help guys will tell you to try those steps before they have you replace the whole unit. But otherwise awesome. The customer service its spot on. Yes it is outsourced, but it must be a small group of contracted folks because I got the same guy I had when I called in with install questions 14 months prior. A bit of an accent, but I was able to converse, I would say in an effective manner. Any time I asked for clarification or to repeat something, no problem. Great patience dealing with me and my frustrations from the CS representative (I delt with). I recommend the seller and the product.

App is meh and Wifi issues
We had an electrician set up the line and connect the EVSE. He appeared to stumble a little in getting everything connected correctly, but I didn't watch him the entire time. Once he had power running to this thing, I fired up the ChargePoint app (not the installer app - not sure what that is, but I read that I could just set up the charger with the normal app so that's where I started).
Connecting to the device was simple during the set up process. Important!!!! The app will ask you what the breaker amp is during the set up and you only get one chance at this. There is no way to change this value afterwards. That value will determine how much juice will be your max out when using that charger. For that reason, this charger loses 1 star. I've read that you have to call ChargePoint in order to change that value. What a hassle.
During the set up process, the wifi connection was pretty stable and I thought I was out of the woods of having wifi issues, unfortunately, the other reviewers are correct. This unit has really poor wireless connection. We run a Deco Mesh network at our house (the one with 3+ nodes that share the same wifi name and spread the signal across all the nodes). I have never had any wifi issues anywhere (even when outside near the sidewalk - 50 ft away from the house). As soon as the set up process completed, the wireless light indicated that the wifi would blip in and out. I was able to watch it happen in real time on the app. I eventually got it to remain stable, but it did take some work, hence another star has been taken.
The app itself is also just meh. It's clunky and lacks polish. Accessing the device and setting up the cost per kWh is cumbersome. The only thing I use it for is to see how much juice my car is pulling when it's charging. Otherwise, it's just another app on my phone. My car does most of all the other fancy stuff so I don't need it through the app.
The last thing worth noting is on my car, this charger doesn't lock when it reaches the charge limit. My last charger would lock onto the car and would not release when the charging limit is met. It was a nice safety feature, not sure why this one doesn't do that. I have to manually lock it.
For the price, the whole ecosystem is not impressive. Had I known, I probably would not have purchased.

Nice and Easy device.
Product performs as advertised. After running a new 220 Volt line into my garage directly into the Chargepoint (Hardwired) it was an incredibly easy installation. I downloaded the app over WiFi and was immediately able to charge. With the app you can set a charge schedule. So if you plug it into your car when you get home after work it won't charge until the set time, ie. 10pm - 3am. I have the Ford Mustang Mach E and it works perfectly. I get about 110 miles per 4 hours of charge. As a side note tho for all people with the Ford Mustang Mach E. You don't have to purchase anything else. The charger that the car comes with has a plug for 220. If you run a cable just run it to the 220 outlet and you can charge it that way. I didn't realize that until after I'd already made the purchase. It's up to you though.

Pricy but had great reviews.
I did a deep dive before purchasing any Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. I landed on the ChargePoint HomeFlex after researching as much as I could and, besides the price, it seemed to have everything I needed in a J1772. My electrician had no trouble installing it (it's a hardwired unit) a few days ago and it does what it needs to do when I need it. I particularly like the long thick cord and the handy holder. I chose outdoors because it met my needs and I have subsequently purchased and installed a cover for it to protect it from the weather. Only trouble I had is finding the PIN to link it to my phone. That has yet to be resolved.

No Issues with Tesla
I was thrilled to see an option for NACS so that no adapter is needed for Teslas. You can press the button on the handle to open the car charging port as well. The installation must have been easy enough, because my electrician didn't even bother reading the instructions. He also wouldn't download the chargepoint app to set the Amps (only electricians can do) . Thankfully it was installed on 60Amp breakers and functions perfectly even without that last step. Using it has been easy and smooth.

meh. it works
It works as expected. 60A breaker -> 48A output. Getting the desired KW.
I did not read the directions properly and initially set breaker amps to 50A (and was getting 40A output) but my breaker amperage is 60 so I had to remove the charger from the account and re-add it so it would run the setup and allow me to select 60A.

Top Tier Charger
I currently lease a Kia EV6 GT and primarily charge for free at work. Lately our Level 2 chargers are occupied or we are being courteous and charging for only a few hours to allow others a chance to charge. These work chargers are also Chargepoint. I was already familiar with the brand and app when I decided I wanted this charger for my home use.
After a lengthy electrical installation project (our garage and home did not have 200amp service and our garage is detached), we finally got this all setup and functioning in July 2024. The setup through the app was easy and quick. You will need to know what the amperage is of the breaker that powers this circuit is. In our case it was a 50 amp breaker so the charger maxes out at 40 amp (10% safety margin). I went with the hardwired version for a marginally better safety record/less point of failure.
The unit itself is incredibly sturdy, well built. The charge cord is thick, basically commercial quality. Length is not an issue for our setup.
What really sells this unit is the app. It is so easy to use and allows you to connect to your utility plan, in my case ComEd Hourly Pricing. Basically our price of electricity various based on market demand. Mostly always being cheapest during the early morning hours. The app seems to accurately capture the variable price and associated taxes/fees. It displays this in the screenshots shown with a cost for that session, how long it lasted, and how many kWs were added. Setting up the schedule is super simple and as long as you are plugged in, you can start at anytime via the app.
I haven’t had a single issue with it. I did buy it on sale and recommend this unit wholeheartedly.
It charges my EV6 at about 9.6kW at 40amp. About 32 miles per hour of range.

Simple DIY install
I’m an amateur electrician and like to diy. I did pull a permit before doing this. Initially I was going to do conduit and 6 awg THHN wire (10 awg ground). But, the local stores only had 100’ spools and cost got a little crazy.
With 6-2 NM-B (Romex), 3/4” wire staples (get the ones that say 6-2), a 50 amp breaker, 1” nm-b connector (panel), and a 3/4” nm-b connector (charge point rear mounting point) I was set.
6-2 romex is limited to 55 amps and continuous chargers delayed it to 80% so you’re limited to 40 amp charging. That’s roughly 30 miles/hour according to the manual.
You’ll want some way to cut the sheath/strip wires (I used a a box cutter.. box stores don’t sell tools for the larger wire). Having a drill/impact driver to cut holes in your joists (look up before you do it, there’s rules). I used a 7/8” spade drill bit to cut the holes. Beyond that I did cut some drywall; a dry wall saw gave me plenty of room to work in.
Beyond that the manual is great. Software is easy to use and works with my electrical company for cheaper scheduled charging.

Had 2 installations, neither worked for my Tesla model 3
The first one i purchased, I had installed by a licensed electrician. When turned on it dispensed power for an hour or two then blinked green constantly. 90 minutes with tech support determined it was in a “boot-up loop” and asked me to return it. I ordered the NACS handle for the Tesla on the 2nd unit and replaced the defective unit. This time it would boot and connect to the app, but would not recognized if it was connected to the Tesla, another round with support; this one goes back too. I am livid and exhausted with messing with it. I ordered the Tesla brand charger and gave up on these working .

Caution on 60 amp and up hardwire
Overall great product. Packaging and instructions are good and overall build quality is good as well. There are several options as to what amperage circuit that you can wire the unit in at for different charge rates. 60 A will give you 37 miles per hour of charging and going up to 70 only gives you one more mile per hour of charging. and going to 80A does not increase any. The max draw is 48A so I went with the 60A circuit which provides some protection when drawing the max charge rate. A 60A circuit generally should be 4 AWG copper wire (aluminum is not allowed in these units - connector contacts are copper) but the terminals only allow for up to 6 AWG shown on attached photo. I was able to run 4 AWG CU THHN but it took a lot of work to get it in the terminal block. I am getting the full 48A charge and no temperature issues on the feeder wire. Also my feed run is less than four feet and run in 3/4” conduit.

Lifesaver for non Tesla EVs
Accidentally bought the bullet and got an EV. Did not get a Tesla, there’s not much room in them, but that opened the very small door of charging stations available to non Tesla EVs. For a daily driver of 70 miles you absolutely need at least a level 2 charger. Unfortunately these are few and far between if you don’t have a Tesla. I mean really I found myself parking a mile from work just to charge, and absolutely nothing near home. And no I don’t like on a farm or in the boondocks. ChargePoint seemed to get the best reviews, though not the cheapest, but I did get $100 off when I bought it and had some money in credit from returns. Now comes the installation. Phew what an ordeal. My electric company didn’t have anyone in the area. Ok I have an Ioniq 5 so Hyundai gave me a quote of $2500. Okay sure, luckily I remembered the finance department when I got the car, he gave me a card for someone in that area. Luckily he was able to do it, took 6 weeks to get it scheduled and put in, but he did a fantastic job and now my charging went from 0.6 kWh to 13 kWh. App is easy though it’s not always charging at 13, I can’t change the setting so I will be making my first call to tech support. But it does exactly what you want, you can set a schedule and a reminder. Thanks ChargePoint

Scheduling and power throttling handy in Southern California
The ChargePoint level 2 is a good match with both my EV and Southern California Edison (SCE). Electricity can be expensive here (28 cent/kW-hr at lowest times) partly because of the delivery costs of transporting through wildfire country. Scheduling and charge rate throttling with the ChargePoint are valuable features.
I chose a hardwiring ... one less connection that might fail some day. The electrician installed a 50 amp service, which derates to 40 amp maximum EV charging. Thus far my driving/charging habits haven't needed the fastest rates. Using the app I back down to 15 amps daytime to make full use of solar.
In the first five months of operation I have seen two glitches: One time the charger refused to charge or respond to the app. The troubleshooting list failed until the last item: cycling the circuit breaker. The second time the scheduling software missed the scheduled cutoff time.
<<addendum>> At month 10 the WiFi gave out entirely. No WiFi signals detected. Customer service helped run through the checklist, confirmed the unit was bad, and sent out a replacement promptly. Eighteen months later the replacement has again gone bad with the same symptoms: No Wifi signal detected even after cyling power for both short and extended periods of time. Another replacement is on its way. In the meantime, the unit will still charge my car.

Very simple set-up
I decided to go with the Chargepoint charger because of the prior reviews. I was not disappointed when it came to the app set-up. It was very simple, especially when following the videos I watched prior. My set-up is somewhat different than most. I wanted to have a retractable system from my center garage ceiling as I didn't want to deal with cords laying on the ground or winding up every time I unhook the connector. I ran my 240v directly from the panel up the back wall and into the attic above the garage back down to where the garage door opener is. I used pvc bushings for a clean drywall pass through. I have a tool balancer and spare EV docking station on order and will hook those up when they arrive. For now, the bungee works.
I was very disappointed as I discovered the ground clamping connector on the unit was defective and did not engage. All after spending the time to mount and finalize the wire length. I am waiting for the replacement.
Assuming the next one will be OK, this looks to a good unit.
Update: I uninstalled the charger to prepare it for return and the ground clamp that was not clamping finally released and engaged. I re-installed the charger and it works like a champ!
