Sturdy Story Pieces, Great Activity Booklets, but Ok’ish Stick onto Felt

As a teacher, I was really excited to purchase this set to use with my granddaughter. We sing all of these story songs regularly, so I knew it would be fun to add hands on visuals to match our songs. The set comes with the felt ‘folder’, a parent/caregiver guide and activity booklet for each story, sheets with the story pieces that you need to separate, and a sheet of the hook and loop stickers to put on the back of each piece. The pieces are sturdy and big enough for little hands, and the colors are great. The pockets inside the felt ‘folder’ are big enough to hold each story’s pieces tightly. I loved the booklets that came with the set. They contain lyrics to each song, a verbal story you can tell instead of singing a song, and activities to use that incorporate English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Art. My only complaint is that the pieces do not stick to the ‘folder’s’ felt very well. With a solid press, the pieces stay on ok’ish, but a toddler would not know to secure them well on their own. Overall, like the sturdiness of the pieces, the pockets inside the ‘folder’, and the activity guides that come with the product.

Missing pieces

This is a great product, however, we received two ‘Five Little Monkey’s Swinging in a Tree’ and did not receive a ‘Five Little Speckled Frogs’. I wish we could be the Five Little Speckled Frogs because my 2YO, 3YO, and 5YO have been enjoying singing the songs together with the felt pieces.

This product is so cute!

With some simple removal of the substantial felt pieces off the sheets and applying the velcro dot you have 4 classic nursery rhyme characters and props and their little story books. The characters stick to the fold-up board that has 4 pockets to put characters into when finished then folds in half to make a handy carrying case. I can't wait for my Grandkids to visit. They are going to love this.

Fun Felt story starters

This is something I’m hoping my 3 year old can enjoy while I go deeper in homeschooling for my kindergartener. It comes with little stickers you can attach to the cutouts, so they velcro on. I didn’t bother with that. Felt sticks well enough to itself and my experience with those type of stickers is that they pull off with use.

They are not to scale (side by side) but work well for setting the scene (background and foreground fanciness). The pockets inside technically hold it all, and the handles are well attached. But with the cutouts in the pockets inside for storage it’s pretty gappy, and not particularly secure. If you were to travel with this I would add a button closure to hold the the two halves closer, but so don’t need that for my purposes.

The stories included are familiar but not common, which I appreciate. The felt cutouts you can simply push out. Mine had some dirt smudged on the back.

I don’t know that it’s nice enough to gift, but it’s simple and sufficient enough for classroom or home use.

So cute and educational

I’m excited to teach all the old classic nursery rhymes to the kids I teach music to. The pictures on the felt characters are good quality and I like how they’re labeled so we understand what the artist intended and how to use them. Lots of options for lots of different nursery rhymes. I’m so excited to use these! Highly recommend.

Empty bowl?

This is a great activity. I love that my son plays with it after the story is over and makes up/add to the story. I gave it 4 stars because my three year old was upset that there wasn't an empty bowl. i tried to explain that he can use his imagination which he was ok with but proceeded to let me know that he didn't need to do that with the broken chair. I agree with him, it would have been simple to have included an empty bowl. I took a pic of it and printed it out, cut off the porridge and added a felt back. I also added butterflies per his request and now he said it is perfect. The three little pigs had everything he needed. We have only done the tortoise and the hare once, and have yet to do hansel and gretel, (maybe when he is older). Knowing this i would have still bought it.

Disappointed in the colors not the color I thought was coming in It showed blue and light blue

My kids love it They call them stickers but they both wanted blue which was in the picture and we did not get blue very very disappointed on that I mean a girl one when you order two really boy and girl and they send you do not think that sometimes people have two boys. Oh yes and they don't stick well to the felt travel board. When you select it it showed one being a purple board which I did not select that one and the other one being blue so I selected two on the blue and they sent me whatever colors looks like it That's my biggest disappointment and the sad part is the felts don't stick that good on the travel board.

Felt pieces are not the same as shown in the photo

The photo advertised is not what I received. The felt board is sky blue and the felt pieces look odd. The Mr. Alligator felt pieces are the only was that are the same as the ones advertised.

Great for circle time

My daycare kids are loving this during circle time! I especially love the activities and stories that come with the felt board and pieces. It is really nice that the pieces are stored right on the back and it all folds up together.

Perfect for practising numbers and rhymes!

I love this product so much! It comes with 4 story/rhyme sets that you can store, carry and play with all in one! As soon as my 4 year old niece saw it she immediately began chanting all the rhymes with the board and pieces. This will also be perfect for a kids YT channel that I run!

Disturbing face included in packaging

Just unpacked this and was wondering what story set this face belonged to, then realized what it was doing with its hand. Terrible, very disturbing for a child’s toy. Looks like people had similar experiences with this particular set. Horrifying and will never order again. Such a disgrace to the children’s toy world.

Nice set

I recommend this set for at home use or a small storytime group. I love the storage pockets for the pieces. I found the pieces are very thick and high quality so you don't have to worry about them bending, folding or tearing easily. I use these with my 3 year old son and he loves sticking the pieces on and removing them. It really adds a nice visual to our songs/stories. Highly recommend!
