I recently used this wireless shotgun mic to record a recital and was really pleased with the wireless nature of the setup. It allowed me to experiment with the placement of the mic for the best balance of sound between violin and piano in the room. I was able to wear the wireless receiver on my belt and plug in headphones to listen to the sound while walking around with the mic until I found the right location. I didn’t need to have the camera with me, but I could then plug in the receiver to the camera in the back of the auditorium to directly record the sound to the camera and not have to worry about syncing audio in post.
I really like this workflow of having a wireless shotgun mic that has a built-in audio recorder for backup, and I will consider getting another wireless shotgun mic so that I can make stereo recordings.
