We love this book! The story builds on itself as a fun,goofy tongue twister. The book came in excellent condition. We are gifting this one since we love ours so much. We have had our book for a few years now and my kids still request it for bedtime.
We all get a little chuckle out of it and have created some fun memories as each kid tries to say the tongue twister faster than the other.

I can’t believe I bought this. It’s about a donkey with three legs, one eye, that smells, listens to country music and no, it’s not about inclusivity.
There’s no message, no point, no punctuation. I didn’t know children’s books could be this bad!

Although it was still readable and quite funny I purchased a “new” book not used! This book was definitely used…cover was creased and thorn with worn edges. The edges of the inside pages were also worn. Since this was meant as a gift I was disappointed but don’t have the time left to exchange it prior to gifting it.

This book is so cute. My daughter laughed and laughed. It is a very cute book and it has a really cute song that goes with it.
Definitely worth having in your home library or classroom.

This is my favorite children's book currently, I have suggested it to all my parents friends as a Christmas gift and may even get it for my niece for Christmas, that spunky, hanky-panky, cranky, stinky-dinky, lanky, honkey-tonkey winky wonky donkey is my favorite donkey and i think he will be yours too.

I taught preschool and the kids love this book. So I bought the board book version for my daughter. I must have left a baby wipe on it by accident bc it didn’t come with the water damage. But beware that they can be warped haha obviously. This book is funny tho!

Got exactly what I ordered but they arrived in an envelope with no support on the front and back of the books to keep them from damage. As you can see the corners are wrinkled from being handled.

I have a 7 yr. old daughter with non-verbal Autism. She loves books but The Wonky Donkey is definitely her favorite. I have to read the cutest book ever at least 5 times a day to my little one. She's never wanted a book read more times than The Wonky Donkey. I just ordered The Dinky Donkey and The Grinny Granny Donkey to complete the collection. They also have Wonky Donkey's Big Surprise but it's not a board book... which I prefer. 10/10!!

Such a cute book. My five year old granddaughter loves to hear words that rhyme. Also The theme is fun and I know some people are upset they think that it makes fun of disabled people. This story actually gives you a chance to talk about how some people have disabilities. The Positive note at the end this story is the donkey is quite handsome. Use this as a tool for teaching your children that we all have differences and we learn to adapt and appreciate each other. This is a fun positive book and I give it five stars.

Love the book. Didn't love that it arrived banged up. The last two pages were stuck together so separating them ripped off the part of both pages. I'm giving it to my 2 year old as a birthday present so I'm sure it will suffer more damage at her hands. I would replace it if it were for someone else.

TL;DR:
This book is SO inappropriate, especially for little ones who are learning new words and how to speak to and about others. I am embarrassed that I bought it and regret that I supported this by spending my money on it.

I saw that cute viral video that everyone else did, of the grandma cracking up reading this to her grandchild. Wow, it's awful! Do you know why the donkey is "wonky?" Because he has only 3 legs and wears a prosthesis! Cringe. That is NOT how I want my daughter to refer to those with differences or prosthetics. Do you know why the donkey is "winky?" It's not because he is winking... it's because he only has one eye. Again, cringe. And by the way, do you know why the donkey only has one eye?? Because apparently a little bird ripped it out, as illustrated by the book. That's just creepy AF. The message is bad, and the pictures are scary. The only redeeming quality of this book is that it rhymes.
There are so many better children's books than this. Please choose one of them instead. It makes me sad that there are so many glowing reviews, and so many people that think this is ok for their kids' vocabulary.

Was so sad to find this damaged when opening the un-damaged shipping box(the other 4 books are fine). This is the 'flag-ship' book in this series and is a gift for our grand-daughters for Christmas. Hopefully, it's replacement will make it on time for gift giving. It's a delightful story that I know will have us giggling as we read together. Fingers crossed that the replacement gets here as indicated.

Love reading the same words over and over. It had helped my granddaughter to remember. She loves hearing the donkey he-haw.. it’s a great size for a 2 year and it’s easy to turn the pages.

I am a loving grandma who mailed this book to my 34-month-old grandson after seeing the video of another grandmother laughing her way through trying to read it to her grand-little. But I am furious and feel misled about this book. My grandson had a hard time going to bed tonight and woke an hour later in tears over the pictures in this book. Unbeknownst to me, this donkey has a bird pluck out his eye, has something happen to a leg or two, has big, yellow scary teeth, makes awful expressions with his face, and in general looks very strange and menacing, especially for a small impressionable child. My poor daughter and hubby have had to jump through hoops tonight to help "my baby" settle down. They’ve answered lots of questions and put a spin on the story that should not have been necessary. They have had to promise not to let him see the donkey again; have hidden the book and will attempt to return it. The rhyming silliness is cute, but I felt it's imperative to warn prospective purchasers/parents that the pictures in the book do not appear to follow the story line very well and may well cause emotional trauma. This is one ugly, scary donkey!! If your child is at all sensitive, this one is not for them. I wish I had known this before I hurt my grandchild with what I thought was a gift of love.

Bought this for my mom for her birthday to read to the grandkids. She saw the viral video of the lady reading it to her grandbaby and she just cracked up laughing! She was so happy to get this as a gift and had such a great time reading it to the kids. The rhymes are good and it's very funny!

At first I was a little skeptical of getting this book since I had read some pretty bad reviews from parents saying that it was teaching kids to make fun of people with disabilities. I guess I can see where they are coming from but it’s just a story and most kids won’t even realize what is going on. I do not believe that the author of the book had any intentions of offending anybody and was just trying to write silly rhymes. It is a witty book that both kids and adults will enjoy!

I laughed while reading this I snorted and honked at this book. I had tears in my eyes and I nearly peed my pants. If your still reading my review...BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF! Buy this book for your neighbor kiddo, buy this book for the next baby shower you’re invited to, the next birthday party you go to but do yourself a favor - write your name inside with an inscription saying “Happy Reading, for children are made readers in the laps of their parents”. *Those saying it’s bad for kids. Not really. Some kids are amputees. So is the donkey. As long as you teach your kids to not make fun of others and not rely on a book, they’ll be fine.

Bought for Christmas and the story is the one everyone's loving. This review is for two things: 1) it was shipped in a flimsy & over-sized manilla mailer without any protection. It was just tossed in there and mailed and I ended up with a brand new but damaged book. 2) Scholastic quality isn't great. I've noticed that any books published by Scholastic seem to be of cheaper, inferior quality. I'm glad this wasn't more than $5 and change.

We recently learned of this book through a hilarious Grandma reading it in a video - if you haven't watched...check it out - so funny! So excited to share this funny book with our kids, and extremely disappointed when it arrived yesterday and was all bent and folded in half stuffed in our mailbox. I would blame the mail carrier, except for nowhere on the mailer did it say DO NOT BEND. This was just sent in a basic bubble mailer, no cardboard or anything to give the book support. So instead of receiving a nice, brand new book - the book is already worn and bent and looks like it has been read numerous times.

The book is wonderful, but I am severely disappointed with the condition it came. It was bent/folded over (before shipped, because the packaging had no folds) which created a permanent divet and broke the cover photo when straightened. After waiting nearly a month for its arrival, this was pretty disappointing.. and now I’m looking for a new book to go with the gift it was intended for, because it would be embarrassing to gift this.
