Very good amp. This thing pounds. I have it running with my Pioneer Elite receiver. I use the amp just for the subwoofer, and have two 12inch car subs running off this thing for my home theater and it absolutely rattles my house. Well worth the money I paid. Easy to install and use, just make sure you check your speakers ohm rating and wire correctly!

Does the job well, received unexpected open box
Bought the XLS1502 because the previous homeowner wired up outside speakers down to 2 ohms. My stereo, a sweet 20 year old Denon 3805 couldn't push the speakers loud enough to be heard over the pool pump. This does an awesome job. The audio is clear and the volume is great. I'm feeding audio from the Denon's pre-outs. The amp runs without requiring the fan coming on. I've listened to it for a solid hour and like what I hear. This is not an audiophile setup.
Where we get into problems is that the unit sent was an open box item because one side was taped with the box staples removed. The unit was physically in great shape, but it was clearly previously opened. It's not clear whether it was used or not, but I can only assume it was. The included manual had bent pages at one corner and a stain on it.

Perfect for subs
I am using the Crown XLS 1502 to power two Audiopipe (TXX-BDC-II-12) subs. These subs handle 750 watts RMS. I have the subs inside an old SVS PB2-ISD enclosure. I have the subs wired to a final impedance of 4 Ohms. Using the crown in bridge mode to put out 1550 watts at 4 Ohms to the subs which is perfect. The bass is nice and tight and very controlled. I couldn't be happier with my setup.

Wow!
This Crown XLS 1502 amp is much better sounding than I expected. I bought it to run my two passive subwoofers, but before I hooked it up to them, I hooked it up to my main speakers, a pair of hard-to-drive bookshelf speakers. And then I left it there for two months because it sounded so good! It really drives those speakers nicely! It may be slightly leaner-sounding than my Emotiva amp, but I doubt I could tell them apart in a blind test. If you have hard-to-drive speakers, you should seriously consider this amp a relatively inexpensive solution.

My Maggies LRS love the Crown 1502. I have great detail separation.
Great value, After break I have great separation and detail this is very musical (Music). Also great as a home theater amp. We stopped going to the movie theater because it sounds better at home. More than enough to power my Maggie LRS speakers. Powered goes through a Maranz receiver.

One Xls 1502 for 8x12" woofers, 10ft of ribbon drivers, & one big smile!
I have a single XLS 1502 driving two massive Carver Amazing speakers (60" ribbons & 4 x 12" woofers & 1,000W capacity EACH) & this amp drives them with effortless excellence! I'm using a Marantz receiver as a preamp source for the Crown & the sound just blows me away. Everyone I've had over has commented on the clarity, the dynamics, the life-like sound reproduction of these speakers.. & they're only as good as the amp driving them. The 1502 is a down right steal for the price!! These Carvers will suck a normal amp dry but this <10lb Crown powers them to ear piercing levels without breaking a sweat. I definitely recommend!

POWAAAH!!!!!
The more I read about the Crown XLS amps the more I became intrigued by them. The people that reviewed them everyone seemed impressed by them. Especially considering the quality of sound (how natural they are), build quality, features…oh an the crazy amounts of power they offer. Low and behold many of the reviews where spot on. So after many an hour of going back and forth testing as a home theater amp as well as a two channel (my Schiit gear) I sold my Caver Sunfires (Class AB amps BTW) to a friend and bought a second 1502 for $375 to power my front two channels along with a Little Bear to switch between my pre-amps sharing the 1502s. I’ve really been happy and impressed so much so I still plan on picking up some 1002’s for my rear channels, sub, maybe center channel and going 7.1 or 11.1 eventually with more 1002s.

Go pro or go home
I'm still waiting for the rest of this system to arrive but I did run the amp through ol RCA speakers. (Poor speakers). This is a smooth amp. Quiet, crisp, and perfect for what I needed.I will be buying the 2502 and I'll be bridging this one to a cerein Vega 15" sub later down the road. I've used Crown in pro audio PA systems, this is the first time I've run it for home audio. The price point for this starter amp is perfect. And I wouldn't recommend anything smaller for room pounding sound. Don't scimp on speaker and input cords.

5 Stars on the Crown XLS1502 and XLS2502 Works perfectly! Excellent investment! Shipped promtly!
These Crown XLS amps are absolutely fantastic! So well managed....that I bought 4 in total for my 10.3 channel Home Theater system. 2- Crown XLS 2502 for front main towers and dual center channels. 2- Crown XLS 1502 for surround towers and front wide towers. Excellent combination for the utmost Audiophile rig. Movies and music are crystal clear in detail and punch...far better than the Emotiva XPA-5(Gen 1) I used to run. These amps run extremely quiet and efficient and wads of power. Would recommend this series (XLS) Crown amps to anyone leaning towards high quality gear in their audio or audiophile system. Tony K. Awesome “CLEAN” power!
I have two 1502’s bridged running my Klipsch Forte II’s. The power, fullness and amazing midrange I knew these speakers were capable of is now realized. Whether in stereo or part of my 5.4.2 home theater, they added everything I was looking for. And at a margin of the cost I was originally looking at spending! Make sure to add “ground lift adapters” and a “power conditioner” to get rid of any buzzing. You won’t be disappointed!

Best Home Theater amps for the money
Purchased these to run my 11.2 surround for Atmos, DTX and Auro-3D surround sound formats. Currently running almost all at 1/4 - 1/3 power since they are more powerful than most of my speakers (Polks). The advantage of not having to push the amps means the fans hardly ever turn on and they stay very cool. This also means no distortion. As for a audible hiss as some state, its a lot more present in PA speakers as Ive had the previous generation of these amps in my DJ system. Main thing to consider is noise floor. The 1502s have a 6dB lower noise floor which is nearly silent on Polks. You might get a little higher on say a Klipsch with its Trizac horns and higher sensitivity but its not unbearable. I did notice it the most with my vintage LaScalas but they are 103dB sensitivity and thats a high bench mark. Another thing to like is the ability to run balanced and unbalanced inputs. I prefered the balanced since my preamp supports these and that also maintains a lower noise floor over the RCA inputs. All and All- these are phenomenal amps and if by chance you end up getting power hungry beasts like 12RTi speakers- the Crwon 2502 drive Core 2 runs them without breaking a sweat. Those things came alive! Lastly- love that they are rack mountable- see pics. I run them sealed inside with open ventilation at top, bottom and rear and have other fans moving air across all the components. You cant go wrong and would spend 3x this to match the performance
