The first time I used it, the battery was at 10%, and the estimate to reach 70% showed 24+ hours. It initially charged at around 4 miles per hour, and after a few hours—likely once the battery warmed up—it increased slightly to about 5 miles per hour.
If you don’t drive much and can keep the car plugged in consistently, 120V charging can be workable. However, in practical use, it’s quite slow for anything beyond light daily driving.
To get meaningful charging speed, you really need a proper 240V setup. This unit is clearly designed for that, with a NEMA 6-20 plug on a 20A circuit. On 240V, I saw charging speeds in the range of about 11–13 miles per hour, depending on voltage, battery level, and ambient temperature.
The included adapter allows it to be used with a standard 120V outlet, but that feels more like a convenience feature rather than the intended primary use. Performance on 240V is where this charger actually makes sense.
The charger itself is lightweight, the connector seats firmly with a solid connection, and the overall build quality feels durable and consistent with Dewalt’s “jobsite tough” reputation.
