DJI Power 2000 Failed After Only 3 Weeks

DJI Power 2000 Failed After Only 3 Weeks — Nearly 7 Weeks Dealing With Support and Still No Repair Case

I’m extremely disappointed with both my DJI Power 2000 and the customer support I’ve received from DJI.

I purchased the Power 2000 at the beginning of a 6-month trip, expecting it to be a reliable source of portable power. I spent a significant amount of hard-earned money on this unit, and it started having major problems after only about 3 weeks of use.

The problem is severe. The unit will show around 85% battery remaining and then suddenly die completely. When I plug it back in, it behaves as though the battery is at 0% and charges all the way back to 100%. I essentially have a power station that I cannot trust because I never know when it is going to shut down.

I first contacted DJI Support on August 17, 2026. Since then, I have exchanged multiple emails with support and followed the troubleshooting steps they provided, including firmware updates, slow charging, allowing the unit to rest for 24 hours, and retesting it. The problem continued.

Eventually, DJI told me to create a repair case. That created an entirely new problem.

When I select my DJI Power 2000 through DJI’s repair system, the website tells me that because of the characteristics of the product, I need to contact DJI Support for assistance and a timely replacement. The only option is “Contact Now,” which sends me right back to DJI Support.

I explained this to DJI multiple times. I refreshed the page and attempted the process again exactly as instructed. Same result.

On September 16, DJI Support stopped responding to my emails. I followed up again, clearly explaining that their own repair system would not allow me to create a case and asking them to manually create or escalate a repair/replacement case.

Still nothing.

It is now October 2, 2026. I originally contacted DJI on August 17, and after nearly 7 weeks, I STILL do not have a repair case number, return instructions, replacement, or resolution.

That is unacceptable customer service for an expensive product that failed after only a few weeks.

I bought this unit specifically because I was traveling for six months and needed something dependable. Instead, I have spent a large portion of my trip dealing with troubleshooting, emails, a repair website that sends me in circles, and unanswered follow-ups. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with an expensive Power 2000 that I cannot depend on.

I understand that electronics can occasionally fail. What is most disappointing is how DJI has handled the failure. A defective product can be repaired or replaced. Leaving a customer without a working product, without a repair case, and without even responding to their emails is a customer-service problem.

I have documentation of my correspondence with DJI Support going back to August 17 and the attempts I have made to get this resolved.

I really wanted to like the DJI Power 2000, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend spending this kind of money on one. My unit developed a serious battery/power-management problem after approximately three weeks, and nearly seven weeks after first contacting support, I still don't have a repair or replacement case.

Buyer beware: if your Power 2000 develops a problem like mine did, my experience shows that getting it repaired or replaced may be far more difficult than you would expect.

DJI, if you see this review, I am simply asking for what I have been requesting for weeks: create my repair/replacement case, provide me with a case number and shipping instructions, and resolve the problem.

Charges fast! Whisper quiet!

Superfast charging via plug so if your car camping like me, an outlet at a park pavilion will charge you from 80% to 100 in 15-20mn! Works great w solar. Charges drone batteries so quickly, I don't need to buy more batteries. Whisper quiet. I keep it next to me in the back of my suv. I've got kayak straps on it so it won't accidently fall out if I open that car door. Not so good w space heaters. Get an Ignik sleeping pad instead.

I will buy again

We used the power station at a farmers market 2 day in the row. Spent only 50% of it. Amazing capacity in such a compact box!

Complete garbage and so is the AtoZ garentee.went with DJI cause I fly DJI and was impressed with the brand but it Won't connect to the app and USB don't work correctly and gives a error, dies on its own after 9hours of idle with nothing plugged in. Should have read all the reviews as I am not the only one with these types of problems. Beware

DJI does it again!

I LOVE this power 2000! Lots of power, lots of plugs for 12v and 120v. It’s a little on the heavy side, but that’s expected for a battery this size. I have it paired with 3 of DJI’s expansion batteries so I have a small home backup system. DJI is at the top of their game and this shows, the quality is second to none!

Gray Market Hong Kong units

DJI has always been a name synonymous with quality. This power unit certainly looks great. I use it as a UPS for several devices as power can be sketchy in our area during winter storms. So far it has been great at keeping things running. The battery life is fantastic for this form factor. It charges very quickly from AC power. The DJI home app is great as well. It allows you to monitor operation remotely and change settings on the fly. The price is what captured my attention. It was a great deal at the time.

Now for the bad news. This unit is gray market from Hong Kong. My unit arrived set for 50hz power out of the box. It has an issue during the charging cycle where it trips an error code every minute or so and stops charging while displaying "err 43". I have been in contact with DJI support. They identified the unit as being a domestic model for Hong Kong markets. I initiated a support request the day I plugged this in and noted it faulting. DJI has been willing to examine it but whether or not they will warranty replace it with a new one is still up in the air.

Check the vendor selling these units before you purchase. Otherwise you can end up in warranty limbo like me. I'll update my ratings based on the outcome of my unit replacement/repairs.

**** Update 2/4/2026**** Unit was returned to DJI for examination. They have determined there is an issue and will repair or replace it with a new one. The communication from DJI has been excellent so far. This should be resolved in a couple weeks. We'll see what they decide...

***Update 2/8/2026*** Received unit back from DJI. It appears to be brand new. Did a quick firmware update and charged battery. It was able to charge at high speed to 100% with no errors. Excellent service and communication from a company you can trust. Upgrading review to 5 stars.

Non returnable & System Error

Software System error during first use in system setup. Non returnable! Quite disappointing for such an expensive item.

I have the kindle fire hd and it works …

These DJI batteries are the best!!!

I love DJI batteries. I bought the 1000 and 2000. I plugged my 70" television into the dji 2000 and it rained for 20 plus hours. I like how quiet it is, and the way it charges fast. I live in a apartment and believe this is enough to hold me incase of a emergency.

Hoss of a power backup unit

Bought straight from DJI, this unit is a hoss. It can run my cpap all night and only go down about 30% in capacity (leaving about 70% left). It can act as a head unit with 20 2k battery packs behind it to power most if not all of your house. The unit weighs about 50 pounds and has plenty of power accessories for it (check the website dji.com). Highly recommended. It also fits in the footwell of my truck (passenger side) to run gear while microcamping. Charge off the car during the day driving, rung the microcamper setup at night.

I got this as part of my microcamper project for my 2016 ram 1500 truck.

Beware the DJI Power 2000—A Dangerous Pass-Through Power Draw

EDIT -

I feel that it is only fair to update my review and add an additional star because of the excellent customer care team. They have done everything they can to help in this situation. They have also escalated the issue that I reported to the technical team. If/when they address the problem, I will update my rating.

I recently put both the DJI Power 1000 and Power 2000 through real-world tests, and what I discovered is genuinely alarming: these units can massively exceed their own charge-rate settings and your home circuit’s safe limits, creating a serious fire hazard.

________________________________________

1. Power 1000 Pass-Through Overdraw

Even with the Power 1000 set to charge at 600 W, whenever I connected my print-farm rack (which itself was drawing around 700 W), the unit behaved like a straight passthrough. I pulled 1,400 W+ from the wall—more than double the advertised setting.

2. Power 2000: Even Worse Behavior

Expecting better, I upgraded to the Power 2000. Under a 1,500 W space heater plus a 400 W secondary heater, the display shot up to 1,800 W–1,900 W (see photos), despite being advertised for 2,400 W continuous output in passthrough/boost mode. Within 60 seconds, the unit shut itself off—no graceful limiting, just an abrupt cut.

• Input reading: 1,828 W

• Output reading: 1,799 W

• Battery state: ~98 %

(Image 1: wall-meter showing 1,884 W draw; Image 2: Power 2000 display showing ~1,800 W input/output)

3. Why This Matters

A “continuous load” and should be limited to 80 % of the breaker’s capacity—that’s 12 amps or about 1,440 watts.

• Overheating & Fire Risk: Drawing 1,800–1,900 W nonstop will overheat wiring, outlets, and breakers. Insulation can melt and spark a fire long before a breaker finally trips.

• False Security: You might assume a breaker will protect you, but these units quietly allow much higher draw without immediate tripping.

4. Customer Support

I’ve reported these overdraw issues to DJI—and they’ve only grown worse with the Power 2000 firmware revision. No recall, no warning labels, just continued over-ambitious specifications.

5. Safer Alternatives

For anyone needing reliable, lower-power UPS or pass-through devices, consider proven options like the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2. It genuinely limits at its stated output, includes robust thermal and overload protection, and won’t silently overtax your home circuit. (Disclaimer: I’m not sponsored—I’m simply a concerned customer.)

I hope this helps to inform and keep you safe.

Error3 software mismatch.

Recommend getting Dji dongle with the power2000. Use computer to update power 1000 to use dongle then use dongle to update both units to matching software. Update them together by plug them together and auto update . For some reason the computer/MacBook can’t see the power 2000 to update it.
